Re: Satellite A350 - Mute button, read DVDs, break do not work

They used to work, but I do not know when they stop working. I search with Google and someone said if you can re - install the added value package, you have to solve the problem, but it has not worked for me. Stupid Toshiba tech asked me to go to their center of told and told him that this is the best idea I have ever head. It'll take just 1 hour to get there.

Can someone help me with this? I know it is a software problem probably I chagned something...

Thank you

Hello

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago and the relocation of the value-added package could solve the problem.
I removed the old VAP and restarted the laptop. Then I used CCleaner to clean the registry of Windows and some files and system files and I rebooted again. Then I installed the new VFR from the Toshiba page.
Maybe you should try it too! ;)

In addition, it would be interesting to know if you are running the factory settings, or if you have installed your own version of Windows

    Hello

To be honest I m a bit confused.
You are not able to boot from THE disks; Windows disk, disk recovery, disk Linux?

If it of the case, then it means that your CD/DVD drive is faulty.
Why? Because the CD/DVD drive is recognized and controlled by the BIOS when booting from CD or DVD.

When the Windows operating system has started, the CD/DVD drive must use the Microsoft common driver which is part of the Windows operating system.
This means that you n t need to install ALL the drivers in order to get the job of CD/DVD.

If you can boot from any disk, but if the CD/DVD drive is not recognized by MY computer, then I recommend this:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/270008/en-us

Before you remove the upper and lower registry filters, remove the CD/DVD drive in Device Manager and then go into the registry and remove the filters. Restart the unit.

  • Satellite A60-772: SD - R6112 DVD - RW is not working properly

    Hello

I bought a Satellite A60 772 in September of last year. His Player DVD - RW SD - R6112 worked well upward until March 2005, some time; However, I only used to burn CD - R and CD - RW. Then all about March, I used it maybe twice to burn on DVD - RW using the RecordNow! supplied software.

There is no problem - so - but shortly after the player refuses to detect even the CD - RW and DVD - RW. I can now use only of the CD - R with it (have not checked with DVD-R). Since then, I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and even reinstalled once the operating system (e.g. Windows XP Home Edition). I also updated the BIOS about a month ago. Still nothing.

-Someone - had a similar problem? And if you also have an idea how to solve this problem?

    Hello

If there is the same situation after the recovery process, I assume that there is some malfunction of the equipment. All that you have done is just. I think the warranty is still valid and the best solution is to contact the Service of your country partner and let check the drive.

Maybe the reader must be exchanged.

Hello everyone.  This is my first post on this forum.

I have a Pavilion dv7.  Since the beginning (Vista) the QL Mute button wouldn't change to orange when the speakers muted.  I've upgraded to Windows 7 and it still doesn't work.  At one point HP automatically suggested an update of a certain type.  Installed and the button worked.  My hard drive crashed and I just installed a new updated one, day of Vista to W7 once again, done all updates offered.

But the same problem is back!

Does anyone know what I need to update to make it work?

    Thanks DP - K,.

I solved it by installing ' HP full support ", ran the" Tune up"and by installing recommended drivers."  The problem has been fixed, but there was no mention of the QLB' in one of the names of driver updated!

Sorry, I don't have to try your solution, I'm sure this would have worked too.

    Thanks again for your response.

A couple of weeks, I installed Vista on my laptop, to find every time that I burned a DVD movie, it would not properly play in my DVD player. So I thought it was a problem of Vista compatibility. So I reinstalled Windows XP to find this film now jumping when burned under Windows XP.

I was told to change my media, so I still have no chance of jumps always.

This is were I get confused, I was beginning to think that I have a problem with my DVD - RW, but if I burn to a DVD + RW Games movies fine burning on CD - R for music high etc all play very well it just seem to be my I can not burn to DVD - R. Now, I have been using this media for so long, I forgot how long it was to tell the truth.

: D I put t want your money it's better that you will be buying a new drive ;)

Hmm, maybe there is something wrong with the lens of the drive.
If the lens is unable to correctly calibrate the reader cannot read or write media.

Try to gently clean the lens maybe it helps.

I have tried both DVD + RW is simply not found and the CD - RW try to write, but then the operation cannot have place towards the end of the process it says it cannot be completed.

    Any advice?
Drives running on my desktop drives are very good.

    Hi Rebecca

In most cases, these CD/DVD burning issues are related to mediums is not compatible.
You should know that not all of the CDs or DVDs of different manufacturers are compatible and supported
I would recommend so test different CD and DVD.

What burning software do you use?
I use the program Nero Burning Rom. It of great and supports many useful features. This software tested the CD/DVD drive and controls and sets the best burning speed.
Sometimes it s useful to run these tests to ensure the best combustion parameters.

But you question might be linked to the failure of hardware too.
Sometimes the reader cannot process a CD or a DVD because the lens can not calibrate correctly. In this case, the disk must be replaced :(

So finally I recommend that you check the different CD & DVD, and if the problem persists, contact the ASP in your country for a control.

    Bye and good luck

    Hello

I suggest, that it can not ONLY play .avi files. Am I wrong?
In this case, you need additional codecs.
This has nothing to do with the DVD drivers or firmware.
Check the internet for the codec. I'm sure you will find a lot of info if you want to google a bit.

    Begging you a lot
    Michael Borger

In my view BIOS update will not change.
I assume that the reader has worked in the past with the same BIOS version
It is a drive hardware problem or some registry keys are corrupt.

I think that it s a hardware malfunction may be a matter of lenses.
    But try this;
Remove the drive from Device Manager and shut the laptop computer. After restarting again the operating system should recognize the drive again. Then you can check the functionality.

Otherwise, you can remove the disk from the laptop, and then start the laptop without the drive. Then stop the laptop, put the drive in the notebook and start over.
    The firmware should again loads.

But if these procedures help t, I don t see it differently as for replace the drive

  • Satellite P25-S520 - DVD player does not work properly

Difficulty of DVD player or buy the external drive

My DVD player does not work properly, in fact it can never work properly. Recently, I tried to back up my PC on a DVD using Norton 360. Norton did not recognize that the DVD was present. Then I tried to write a text file on a DVD and was a failure. DVD + R and DVD-R media were found to be (Maxwell 16 X).

I could have probably lived with this however, I received a copy of Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 10 on a CD and my Toshiba would not recognize it. I tried the CD in my laptop nearby and it was recognized.

An attempt to update the driver has also fails.

I was able to copy a CD of music last night so that at least works properly.

Does anyone know how can I fix? The important part is to be able to load my new program.

Research on some forums I found that other people have had problems with the Pioneer drive. If the drive can't be fixed, I'm not adverse to buying an external DVD drive. Unfortunately, where I live there is no brick and mortar stores selling external drives and I prefer to avoid the hassle of getting a drive online and discovering that it does not work with my Toshiba. Can someone suggest an external USB drive that will read and write CD and DVD and is certain to be compatible with my Toshiba?

Any external USB CD/DVD drive will be compatible with your laptop.

However, you won't be able to boot from CD (run recovery for example) If you are using an external drive.

So, your best option would be to replace the internal drive with a Toshiba drive designed for the laptop. Call an ASP and request a quote.

  • Satellite A200 - 23P - mechanic of DVD - rom does not

I'm sorry for my English in advance this topic! -Thank you

I have a very big problem with my engraver of DVD (RM).
    I bought SAT A200 - 23P three weeks ago.
The Win VISTA operating system has been installed. DVD - rom worked well.

If I have installed Win XP to the second partition on my HARD drive (to install the disk with driver for sata drive in nlite) and installed all the drivers and utilities for Toshiba laptop, I found that my DVD-rom is not working while I press eject button.

Mechanic of DVD is not responding to eject in XP and not even in the BIOS!
It is interesting, mechanic DVD is the detection in BIOS, detects in XP, XP operating system votes - mechanic to the DVD works properly - its fable.

However, if I have installed XP on the second partition, Win Vista does not load :(
I don't have a second chance for second selection (Vista and XP).
I now have XP only, even if Vista is on the first partition - I didn't delete it.

Do you think that the DVD-rom is HW or SW problem?
I think that, given that the DVD-rom does not in the BIOS - HW error.

But is very strange, if I install XP from mechanic to the DVD and then close is, DVD - rom does not...:)

If I manually open and insert the CD, the DVD does not (diode led no blink, just if I turn off the computer, led blinked once).

    PLS help me someone-

    Thank you!

    Hi Michal

Your question is very strange, I mean the number of CD/DVD drive

The fact is that the readers of CD/DVD eject function functions should any operating system has been installed on your laptop. It has nothing to do with your software on the HARD drive.

So I wonder why the eject button works with Vista and not XP preinstalled OS?  :|

My only plausible explanation is that sometimes there is a bad connection between the laptop and the drive. However the problem could be related to the hardware problem too

As you see it s not easy to say what's wrong exactly, we can only speculate.

Now some details about your installation of OS double.

You cannot choose between Windows XP and Vista because Vista boot manager was obliterated during the installation of Win XP.
This happened to me also. I installed Win XP on my Satellite and could not start Vista.

The solution was simple; I used another original DVD of Vista (from my friend) and booted from this DVD. Vista has renewed the Boot Manager, and then I was able to boot Vista.

Then I downloaded the tool called Easy BCD.
This tool can change the Vista Boot Manager settings. I've edited and inserted a new Windwos XP OS entry.

    That s it!

  • I have a computer running VISTA. The CD-ROM/DVD-rom does not work and can not read the CD of the program that I placed in it.

It won't read a DVD.  It will not read ANY CD or DVD.  I tried 12 different CD/DVD.  This isn't an upgrade to Vista; the computer came "made for Vista" with Vista installed on it.  I had added Nero.  I removed Nero.  I did all the updates. I have not released the driver and reinstalled.  He claims to have the latest driver software, but it won't work.  The computer can see the CD/DVD, but he calls it a 'CDROM '.  It is not the case.  It is a DVD/Cd-RW with Labelflash.

I did everything suggested that past discussions.  I ran FIXIT program that claims that the drive works properly.  It is not the case.
