Re: Satellite L450 - 11G - new HARD drive & you want advice

Hello

I'm looking for a new drive hard preference more than a _1tb_ with a price range of _around £100_ and hope for some advice on the subject, I found one I like, but didn't know if it would be compatible, I verified that it is the right size (_3.5 _ "") and I just wanted to ask if it works thanks a lot.

Hello

You need * 2,5 * SATA HDD and NOT 3.5
I think the 3.5 did not fit into the HARD drive Bay.

Welcome them

  • How to install Windows without recovery disc - Satellite A660 with new HARD drive

    Hey,.

Portable 500 GB HDD of my friend Toshiba Satellite A660 seems to have died.
I tied him to my laptop on a sata dock and runs a data recovery program because nothing has been saved. The recovery takes forever, however, and she really needs his computer to work.

Because the hard disk may be damaged in any case, I am considering buying a new hard drive and install in the Toshiba.

How can I do this without a recovery disk, though?
The old drive was a partition recovery on it, I think, but this seems useless with a new drive.
Operating system is Windows 7 64 bit home edition.

The product key is on the bottom of the laptop.
I live in Turkey and so I don't think there is a Toshiba store is close.
There are individual computer stores, so I'm confident, I can buy a new internal hard drive (I could find the sata dock here), but he must know what to do to install the software, etc.

    Thank you!
    Chris

    > How can I do this without a recovery disk, though?

You either have the recovery disk or you are going to install the system using the Microsoft Windows disk.
The necessary drivers are in internet on Toshiba UE page.

The recovery disc can also be ordered here:

  • Satellite L500 Support, new hard drive

    Hey,.

So basically a few weeks a power surge overloaded my hard drive,

Unfortunately I lost my receipt so I could not ask for warranty and has to go to a repair shop.

If the repairs were fine, no drama.

But basically, rather before where I'm sure I had vista installed, they have installed Windows 7,

But the problem is that I've lost just some of the features, like built-in webcam Center, so I can't use my webcam and my habit of usb ports seem to work. As I plugged in a usb mouse and I don't even recognize it, it is not even appear in the Device Manager.

Is there something I can do? I don't know if restoring the factory settings will work, because I have a completely new hard drive.

    Hi mate

The webcam software can be downloaded from the page of European driver of Toshiba.
If install you this software, then you will get back the features of webcam.
In addition, the webcam software does not depend on the model of laptop. I could install the Win 7 webcam software out for L500 on my Satellite A210.
So please check it should work.

Generally, the USB port should be recognized automatically without having to install additional drivers. The driver is part of the Windows 7 operating system.

But you should also try to install the Intel chipset utility.
It should allow for the USB ports also works.

  • Satellite Pro 2100 - new HARD drive is not booting

    Hello
I wanted to update my SP2100 with a WD1200BEVE. (120 GB of WD).

Copy of disk via USB + speakers worked, but after changing the disc nine does not start: the laptop hangs up with blinking cursor.
Already checked that the partition is active and even a new installation from a CD of XP has the same result! The BIOS seems to accept the drive (if not installing via CD should have failed) so where is the problem?

    Any tips?

    Hi Kannengiesser,

Which is really strange that you can t start up disk even it s recognized in BIOS correctly...

You have the Toshiba Recovery disk? If so, you can try this disc factory settings. If it works, it was just an installation problem.

But I couldn't imagine also that the new HARD drive is not working properly last week I had a similar problem. Made a HARD drive upgrade, but a few days later Windows didn't start because the HARD drive had a bad sector, now I'm waiting for a replacement drive.

  • Satellite C660 needs new HARD drive - Windows 7

    Hello

My C660 needs a new hard drive. It came with Windows 7 Home premium pre-installed, and I would like to get back to that.

If I go to Microsoft to download windows 7 with my product key, it gives an error. I contacted the support Ms. I don't remember what they said, but they could not help, perhaps because it was a version of installed manufacturer?

So if I get a new hard drive, how can I go back to my previous operating system, Windows 7 Home Premium?

    Help please?

You can have the previous operating system (recovery image) If you install it using a recovery (DVD or USB) media.
I assume that you did not create this media recovery in the past, the right?

If you always use your laptop and pre-installed OS try please create this media using pre-installed recovery media utility. More info on what you can read in the document of the user manuals.

  • New hard drive, you had to install OS but laptop has no CD drive.

I have a new hard drive with no OS and my laptop is not a CD player. I intend to buy the operating system, but I need to know how I can install it once I get it, given my laptop has no CD drive. The operating system can be purchased at the USB format?

Also, if it's important, I bought my laptop in New Zealand and will buy the operating system to the United States because I now live here. Is how important it?

    Thank you in advance!

Yes, that's what I say.  Your permit remains valid.

If there is no problem at all with activation because of a geographic restriction can call the number identified by slui 4 will allow you to resolve, but I don't know that there will be problems.  I know you were already resigned to having to pay for Windows, but this is generally only a problem for some countries and I don't think that Kiwis are included in this group.

What [precise] version of Windows 7 is identified on the label that has your product key?  If it's normal Home Premium, Pro, Ultimate, then there is nothing more far I helpful to add the link I gave you.

In the link that I gave you, the procedure for the use of the download MS DVD/USB tool is described.  André illustrations above show you the procedure it will take you through.

I give you a point of control of this thread to see if you have any questions, leave on a trip in the morning, so will not be able to check again after approximately 8 hours from now [16:08 CEST].

  • Satellite M30X-165: new HARD drive does not work

Hi, I want to replace the old hard drive, HITACHI 80 GB in my Satellite M30X 165. I bought SEAGATE Momentus 5400.3 120GB but it seems that it may not be recognized by the BIOS. Anyone know what to do or what types of discs can be used in this notebook? Thanks for help.

    Hello

Sometimes a bios update has solved many issues about installing new hardware.

BUT Please note: the Bios has a limitation of size of HARD drive support. Not all sizes are supported. I guess that the 120 GB are too big and therefore you can not use it!

You must switch to a smaller size. Check with a 80 or 100 GB HARD drive

Someone else has had this problem when changing drives, drive is too big and two disks must be of the same size? My OS is the smallest disk. I put the old drive to 120 GB in computer and everything works fine. Thank you

Running Windows 7 with 4 GB of RAM

    Hi simirob,

    > The computer see the drive on the list of devices but cannot see under computer or use it.
Yes, because you must create a partition and format everything first before you can use and it s listed under computer.

Here's a very nice guide how to use the Windows disk management feature to create the partition, format the drive, etc.

    Hello

As far as I know the laptop is equipped with an ATA-100 IDE / ATA-6 HARD drive controller.
In this case, you will need to use the 2.5 IDE HARD drive.

I know with certainty that this notebook would support 80 GB HDD, but generally a larger HARD drive should also be possible because the controller is able to manage the 48-bit LBA.
The 48-bit LBA can handle hard drives of more than 120GB.

In my opinion, you can try a 120 GB and also 160 GB HARD drive should be possible.

  • Satellite S1900 - need new HARD drive connector

Hello! I have a big problem. I have my good old Toshiba Satellite S1900 but my little brother (when I in a holiday) lost my laptop HARD drive connector.

Please tell me someone where I buy this connector?

You can ask your local ASP for this connector.
Or you look on eBay, perhaps you can also find a second hand HDD connector.

On the Toshiba site, you can search an ASP:

  • Satellite L500-01U - new hard drive with 1 TB

I recently bought a second Satellite L500-01U cheap enough without a hard drive. I'm looking at hard disks to put in it (I want to at least 750 GB 1 TB would be preferable) and saw a 1 TB WD, however he said that it is 12.5 mm in height that is larger than normal.

I wonder, is it fit into the hard drive from a Toshiba Satellite L500-01U PSLS9A-01U012 Bay?

In fact, I have no idea how big the hard drive and caddy and stuff is normally.

    Hey,.

According to the specifications that it looks like this by Satellite L500 supports 9.5 mm hard drives only then the WD drive with 12.5 mm will probably not good.

I checked the other brands of HARD drive and Samsung has a 1 TB 2.5 HDD with 9.5 mm height only. He model s HN-M101MBB and I found this on [Amazon.co.uk. | http://www.Amazon.co.uk/Samsung-HN-M101MBB-1000GB-SATA-inches/DP/B0053YLTBC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1310322519&SR=8-1]

I hope that helps! :) Samsung Spinpoint M8 1000 GB, SATA II (HN-M101MBB)

  • I upgraded my computer, the new operating system on a new hard drive. Want to get my favorites on Firefox off my old drive, but can't find the file.

I upgraded my computer, adding a second hard disk for a new operating system and kept the old drive as a data disc. I assumed that I could install Firefox on the new disk and import my favorites from the old installation of Mozilla on the old disk. I can't find the files on the old drive with my favorites. They're still here, or when I reinstalled Firefox, I lost everything even if it was on another drive? I can't find the backup on the old disk files and want to restore my old favorites. Is it possible to do this?

You must find your profile folder in the old drive, the way in which must be:

    1. First display the hidden files and folders:

    2. Then go to:
      • < old drive >: \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles \Users\ < username >
    3. Enter in your profile, and then enter the folder bookmarkbackups .
    4. Copy the latest file from json (backup of bookmarks)
    5. Then restore from them:

You may have installed on a computer at a given time, if you simply replace the drive because the old one fails then you can install it on your new drive on the same computer.

  • Satellite M70 - 394 - what HARD drive I can install?

I have a Satellite M70-394 (PSM70E) that I would like to upgrade the hard drive.

Can you tell me what hard drive I'm able to install, such as what type of interface?
Do you also know if I can run windows 7?
and can you tell me if I installed a larger hard drive and a new operating system will be my original toshiba product recovery disk work.
then where in my drive hard is my factory set windows xp so I can remove and install the new operating system

    Hello

I m not a Satellite M70 owner but as far as I know this laptop comes with SATA drives. But you can check yourself if you remove the HARD drive and then you can see which interface it is.
If you have a SATA interface, you can buy each HARD drive you want. On interface SATA there is no capacity limit.

Normally you can install Windows 7 but it s not released yet. Theoretically, it should work but I'll wait until it's official market.

With a new HARD disk, you use the Toshiba recovery disc too. Why not? It s not dependent on the HARD drive you have so just boot make up and follow the instructions on the screen.

If you have any other questions, please let us know. :)
