  I have a Satellite L650. I got it for a little less than 6 months and the other day, I turned on the computer to find the webcam pop up message saying "Web camera initialization failed etc... "I have also noticed that the microphone in too no longer works.

  I uninstalled it and re installed the driver, and it still does not.

  I was wondering if there is anyone who can help or has had the same problem?

  Have you installed the correct Satellite L650 webcam driver?
  What operating system you are using?

  If you have already reinstalled the driver for the webcam I advise to use CCleaner tool. It is a very nice freeware tool that can check your registry for the old registry keys and delete. If this cleaning software nice s to improve performance a bit and solve problems. Just use Google to find this program.

  I am facing a problem with the webcam in my Toshiba Satellite P750-114. The laptop is less than two months the webcam was working fine, then all of a sudden it stopped working. The error message is "Web camera initialization failed. Please check your device and restart the application or computer. The Microphone works well, since it is linked to the web camera device. The operating system is Windows 7 64 bit. It seems that the operating system does not see that there is a webcam more. I tried the following things:

  1. I uninstalled the web camera driver, downloaded the latest driver from Toshiba Web site (the link is http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/supportMyProduct.do?service=UK) and installed, but it did not work.
  2 - I have restored the original for the laptop settings, but still the webcam does not work.

  I assume that you want to use Skype or some other messenger, right?
  For this application, you must not start application pre-installed Webcam. You can even disable the start-up.

  Can you please check if cam is recognized and listed correctly in the Device Manager and check if some messenger recognizes cam.

  It is not easy to say what the problem is there but what you can try is to remove the Camera Assistant software system and after restarting the laptop installed the last driver of the webcam, you can find for your laptop model on the Toshiba download page

  Is the webcam or any device marked with visible yellow exclamation point in Device Manager?

  Otherwise, the webcam module is defective and must be replaced.

  I have a new Satellite A660 with camera web inbuiilt, but there is no software of Toshiba (as stated in the manual) to run the web camera, nor face recognition software.

  I have not checked anything else yet, but not in the programs directory and nowhere in the start menu.
