Re: Satellite U940 guard itself light and electric drain

I love the quick start of this laptop and my understanding always was that the power button (or physically closing computer) is all I have to do to put to sleep.

I know that sleeping computers can always use a bit of battery, but more often I think otherwise, that the computer is not REALLY asleep. The screen may be dark, but the LEDs near the touchpad will turn upward and slight pressure of the button (or any key) immediately shows that he was not really sleep.

I worry because sometimes it seems that it must be for hours - at the bottom of the computer will be hot. I tried to unplug the unit to see if it will make a difference, but sometimes it just means that he will be drained the battery.

Any tips? Much appreciated!

Generally speaking, you're right. By default, after closing the laptop lid must be on standby mode.
In any case, check please supply for some power plan options and make sure the option when I close the lid is set to sleep option.

Also test option sleep when you click Power.

  • Satellite A300 - no power light and won't turn on

    Hello:

My satellite A300 fell off my office. It has been disconnected.
A few hours later, I tried to turn it on, but does not work when I plug the ac cable lights that turn on normally.
Ive opened to check if there is nothing broken, but it seems all good.
    What can I do?

My battery is dead, so I can't do anything with it.

on the virtual path that is not easy to say what the problem is here, but if there is no reaction and led DC is not on I assume that there is a problem with the power of electronic power supply on the motherboard.

Visually, everything can be OK, but some connectors are probably damaged.
Repair (Exchange motherboard) is quite expensive, so I think you should sell it on eBay and get any other machine.

Satellite A300's beautiful machine, and you can get another A300 used on eBay for about 100-150 Euros.

  • PC Health Monitor and battery cover Satellite U940

    Hello

    I have a Satellite U940 on Windows 8.1.

My question is if there is a relationship between the wear of the battery and the laptop on toshiba PC health monitor health.

For now my wear and tear on the battery is at 50% of the full capcacity according to BatteryBar
However, on the health monitor, it says that the health of my battery is good (full Green).

I can only go out about 1.5 to 2 hours in the life of my laptop and just ask for help and information on the issue of whether I should buy a new battery or is at - it something wrong with my reading of the battery.

    Thanks for reading this.

    > Now my wear and tear on the battery is at 50% of the full capcacity according to BatteryBar
However, on the health monitor, it says that the health of my battery is good (full Green).

The health of the battery shows you the State of health of the battery and not the State of battery charge.

    > I can't get about 1.5 to 2 hours of life out of my laptop
Battery working time depends on the use of the laptop. What does that mean?
Well, run the heavy performance software (games, video editing software, etc.), using the brightness of the light display or DVD movie playback would drain the battery quickly.

1,5 - 2 hours of battery time is not bad. But of course; sooner or later each battery must be replaced. It s just a matter of time.

  • Satellite U940-11 t - don't light - white LED (not flashing)

    Hi guys,.

Yesterday, I opened my computer (Toshiba Satellite U940-11 t) to check the fan and clean.
Today when I try to turn on my computer, it works as expected.

Firstly, the launch of motherboard fan then stop.
Second, the prior LED (power & CPU) are white, without blinking.
My computer seems to be turned on but screen doest work... I can hear the fan going slowly...

I tried to turn it off, remove the battery in and out of the charger, then hold the power button / stop 30 seconds then turn it back on but I does not work...

I'm going crazy, I was so proud to do it quickly and on common sense... but locomotives mistaken.

    What can I do?
That doesn't mean this white two LEDS no flicker?

I guess that the motherboard or a part of the motherboard (electronic power supply, CPU, etc.) likely to be affected...
Sorry, but that's all I could say on this issue.

My computer guard restarting itself over and over after windows xp screens. He did the same when I try to put it in safe mode. Is it that I can do to get at least pass this screen?

    Kheta salvation,

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. You receive an error message?
    3. When was the last time it was working fine?

Start the computer by using the option disable automatic system error reboot and check if you receive the error message, and post back with the details.

    1. Restart the computer.
    2. As the computer restarts, press the F8 key repeatedly until you see the Windows Advanced Options screen.
    3. Use the arrow keys to select disable automatic system error reboot and press ENTER.

If you do not receive the windows logon screen, then refer to the article below and try the steps mentioned.

Windows XP logon screen does not appear and the computer continuously restarts

  • Satellite U940 - Random BSOD after replacing HARD drive

    Good day ladies and gentlemen!

I was wondering if I can win some lights here - as I google myself in a bunch of flange on the issue, I have!

I am a famous computer technician (modest too) and more recently, a client of mine introduced me to a ultrabook Satellite U940 - lovingly with the SSD / HDD Raid 0 configuration running our beloved Windows 8.

All things according to their entire course - Hitachi hard drive failed (as google tells me is to be expected).

So, I replace the hard drive by a great little number Western Digital, cloned from Hitachi, sector by sector, and after a significant cajoling with bcdedit and bootrec amount, I could so he could begin our good liked Windows 8.

However, since then, I have random BSOD, cold boots failed and all sorts of errors.

I ran all the regular patches - SFC/scannow, chkdsk/r, Windows 8 repair facilities, etc., but it is still volatile jolly.

Things seem not to be as they were with this Satellite little ol '-before any repair, the peripheral device manager showed two "RAID 0' in the category of hard drives, and since then it shows the individual SSD and the WD HARD drive."

I've updated the driver for the Intel Rapid Storage at latest on the Toshiba site, but nothing helps - alas!
The weird part is that if I do a reboot on this little beauty, she starts without any problems, but a start cold after a power off is a completely different question - dummy - spit crashing, dumping, in general!

If there is a troubleshooting there champion who can destroy my help in this situation, I'd be very impressed and never have if they could provide assistance in this regard.

Unfortunately Microsoft - are we are all end by using these products of ever-so-pretty Appl?

    Hello

I read in some discussions here in this forum only after replacing the disk SSD or HARD drive, the RAID configuration is lost and must be rebuilt on a device Windows 8.

But this can be done very easily, and this can be corrected by an authorized Toshiba because this procedure requires special tools and utilities.

Unfortunately, it seems to me that you will need to contact the ASP in your country to get this problem resolved :(

  • Satellite U940 - backlight on the keyboard in Linux

In addition to Windows 8, I installed Linux Mint 14 cinnamon on my Satellite U940-101 (now I have a sort of dual boot by activating the UEFI option in Bios power switch). Everything works fine, except for the lighting of the keyboard under Linux.

According to other forums, the only possibility to activate the backlight is to disable ACPI in the Bios. The problem is that in the Bios of the U940-101 (Bios Version 1.20), there is no option, at least I'm not and there is also that no Bios update available yet.
Does anyone know how to activate the backlight of the keyboard in these circumstances?

    Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, keyboard backlight is controlled by the specific tool of Toshiba and it is designed for Windows operating system only, so I put t think that the BIOS update will or can help you with this.

  • Satellite L40 - does not start and the screen is completely blank

    Hey guys,.

A good friend of mine has a laptop Toshiba Satellite L40, who died recently, and she has not been able to find the warranty documents yet, so I wanted to ask if maybe you could help.

Basically, what's happened is that one day she was using the computer and not have noticed that it was not plugged in to charge, and before completely lost all power, the computer went into automatic hibernation mode.
It plugged into the charger, the lights indicated that he was in charge. A few hours later she was trying to turn on, but nothing. the computer itself gives off a sound very low, as if turned on, but the screen is completely blank. She said that it's almost like she couldn't make the thing out of hibernation mode. He continues to give sound and some indicators remain lit until the battery is running out of charge.
She has Windows XP is installed on the computer.

Perhaps someone could help as to what is happening here? 1 million thanks!

    ME

    Hello

Weird, but have you tried to remove the adaptor AC/DC and battery? Wait one hour and then reconnect the adapter AC/DC and battery. Maybe the laptop restarts.

If this isn't the case, I think that you need assistance from an authorized service provider. It seems to be a hardware problem and the laptop should be checked by a technician from Notepad to determine the cause of this problem.
On the Toshiba site, you can search the nearest ASP:

    Good luck!

  • Satellite U940 Windows 10 update, very slow start to the top

    Hello

It looks after upgrade to win10, the SSD is not used to quickly boot up the laptop.
How can this problem be solved?

In tools, defragment disc, it shows all of my partitions as SSD drive so I can't defragment.
Why are they displayed as SSD? I think that the basic motivation is a 500 gb HHD and only a 32 GB SSD is included.

Also in the management of the computer disk SSD drive shows only 11.22 GB of capacity and is not used (all 11.22 GB free)

Help, please. I want to get the quick start of the win8.1 and at the same time be able to defragment my HARD drive.
