  You already did a great job of troubleshooting - exactly what I would have recommended here if you had not already tried.  Play well!  Here is one that you did not and I would start one you tried (because I feel that it is perhaps the root of the problem.

  Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt, right click command prompt and click Run as administrator (you can skip this step if you are using the disk).

  If you use the drive, cd to C:\Windows\System32. Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.  Try to put all the corrupt files here so that we can see if they can be repaired with good copies of the installation disc (unless there are too many).

  While in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run.  She might want to plan itself to run at the next reboot (but I don't think that will happen if launched from the disk).   If so, answer Yes and restart to run the program.  It will scan and attempt to resolve any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and remove especially as a potential cause.  I know you tried this before, but we'll try again by using a slightly different command and see if it works this time.

  I hope this helps.  If this isn't the case, then we should try to reinstall the system (backup first) as only option short taking in a computer repair shop. But we'll see what happens with the first above.

  Well, when the scrween does not at all (even in text mode which allows a recovery) then it is most often a problem with the cable bwteeen the motherboard and screen, most often following it is a failure of the screen (which requires generally a matter of co-location as cracked screen) and from time to time, it is the motherboard. Probably time to contact Acer support to see on a repair.

  Hi all.

  My old Toshiba Satellite M35X-S149 had a dead hard drive. I took it for repair, but they said it could not be repaired and they could not recover the information about it.

  I think to be auctioned on eBay for parts only. I wonder if all the data that might be on the hard drive can be hacked somehow. I doubt if there is anything that it doesn't matter who would be able to do anything with anyway, but I would like the opinion of someone who knows more about this kind of thing than me.

  Why you n t remove the HARD drive before you sell the laptop? I would never sell a HARD drive on eBay because some people try to restore the data. If I have a HARD drive that I don't need more, I use it as HARD drive external or I trash because cheap hard drives these days, you get can 500 GB for about 50 Euros.

  Finally, and especially if the HARD drive is really bad, nobody seems so just remove and sell your laptop without HARD drive. ;)

  I agree with sanremo, your model is designed for the American market, so I don't know if you can find a driver in Russian but look on this posted sanremo m Web site.

  In the worst cases, you should choose an English language pilot, but this shouldn't be a problem.

  When I try to boot my laptop all I get is the blue power light coming on and the fan starts (4 or 5 seconds) and then nothing. The problem started the other day when I had to use the recovery disk, after using the recovery disc the laptop has great for about 5 hours. and then frozen.

  I stopped him and since then the most I could get is the laptop boot, blue power light turns on, fan starts and once or twice the hard drive (HD) indicator light turns on and starts to load. He got to the Welcome screen and then everything stops. The screen goes black and the indicator light HD stops, which means that the HD does not.   Sounds bad... I hope this isn't a hardware problem, but to be honest, it looks like a hardware problem.

  But first try this;
  Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery. Wait about 30 minutes and then reconnect the two parts. Then try turning on the laptop computer.

  If the laptop don't feed after of short workaround then you are a lucky man.
  If the portable fuel then you had some bad luck and the laptop should be repaired ;(

  Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

  Unplug all external devices.

  Try to start in safe mode. If you can start in safe mode, and then do a system restore to restore the computer to an earlier point in time.

  Change the recovery settings to disable automatic reboot, if you are able to boot up to the desktop computer:

  1.	Right-click my computerand then click Properties.
  2.	Click the Advanced tab.
  3.	Under Startup and recovery, click settings to open the Startup and recovery dialog box.
  4.	Clear the automatically restart check box, and then click OK many times necessary.
  5.	Restart your computer so that the settings take effect.

  Now, when you are going to close and a fatal error occurs, you will see at least and it won't cause an automatic restart.

  Please reply back with the error message you get because it helps us to resolve the error.

  A small question. Received a Satalite Pro. The power turns on but nothing else.
  I tried the HARD drive in my m200 Portege and its XP Pro running. The Satalite Pro has 1 > 512 MB ram stick inside.

  The overall condition is good and I'm tempted to spend a few shillings to try to bring back to life or we are talking about a major surgery.
  My knowledge is fundamental will have to spend to get fixed.

  Well, in my opinion you should first check the RAM modules.
  The faulty RAM memory would prevent the laptop to boot.
  The RAM modules are the first parts that need to be checked.

  But if the modules are ok, then part of the material such as the CPU or the motherboard could be defective.

  I am experiancing a problem with my Satellite Pro S500 - 11 c where close unexpectedly, it crashes and the fan runs at full speed. Discount to zero is my only option and this resulted in the windows having to retrieve a few times so I'm fearing one requiring a major reconstruction after a deadlock of the future. Until now this issue has occurred only when you use a wireless USB mobile of 3G or internet teathering via USB with my iphone 3G. Using another USB port did not help.

  If someone has encountered this problem and have a fix? No help from Toshiba?

  Try to remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
  Wait a while (> 2 hours) and then reconnect the two parts.
  If the laptop still not, will fuel even using a good power adapter and the battery in good condition, the problem could be related to the problem RAM or the motherboard.

  You should also try to delete one (or two modules if you have some spare parts) module of RAM and should try to turn on the laptop.
