Re: Small screen on my Satellite C850

My cat stepped on the keyboard and I now have a small screen that I could not return to normal,

If I click on "optimize" it will bring to the top of the screen to normal size, but I then 2 boxes on the place of "minimize".

What buttons I push to reverse what is the cat?

For me, it's quite understandable what's wrong with your laptop.
Can you please post the model laptop, Os name and possibly a picture what it looks like?

Is the display OK resolution?

  • Blue screen after upgrading to Win 8.1 - Satellite C850 - 17G

    A year ago, I bought a Satellite C850 - 17 G (PSKCCE) with Windows 7 pre-installed. For a small fee, I upgraded to Win 8. Worked well.

In November 2013, I wanted to do the free update to Win8.1. There I estimated at 2.5 months and a lot of reading on the forums to complete the upgrade to 8.1 Win. Everything worked fine for about 3 weeks.

Can I get some updated windows up-to-date pressed, restarted the laptop and it ended the history of success.
Blue screen and I had this option was to force back to the factory settings.
So here I am again with Windows 7.

On the Toshiba site, I see now that my model of laptop, Satellite C850 with part No. PSKCCE is not a model of support for the update 8.1 Win. Can someone tell me why?

It will support in the future?

    > On the Toshiba site, I see now that my model of laptop, Satellite C850 with part No. PSKCCE is not a model of support for the update 8.1 Win

Hmm, I guess you're wrong because on the Toshiba UE driver page I could find drivers Windows 8.1 for the Satellite C850 PSKCCE

BSOD issues are really bothersome, because this can happen due to hardware malfunction or also due to problems of system or driver.
Same 3rd party software could affect systems

That's why it very difficult to say what might cause this problem without checks unique pieces, the pilot, and the reporting system.

  • Screen bezel for Satellite Pro C850 - 1 M 7 needed

Someone at - it helps me find a bezel replacement screen for a Satellite Pro C850 - 1 M 7 please?

eBay gives just generic and I can't find anything on this site or the other.
    Thank you very much

Laptop parts are not available for sale. No laptop manufacturers etc. Toshiba page you will not find anything.
Or, you can try to order by a Toshiba service provider or some independent stores. Usually the Googling around you should be able to find it for Satellite Pro or maybe some Satellite C850. The parts must be the same.

I don't know where you want to live, and it is not easy to help looking for a direct link to order.

  • Satellite C850 - blue screen at startup

My elderly father has a Toshiba Satellite C850-1MC laptop - (Intel Pentium B960 2.2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB, 15.6 "HD LED, DVDRW, Intel HD, Webcam, Bluetooth, Windows 8 64-bit).

When he started the laptop the initial screen appears for a short time, then goes to a blue screen showing only the mouse pointer (no error code appears).

If on the initial screen he quickly presses a button brings you to the screen of welcome for a very short period and then go to the bluescreen as above.

Anyone got any ideas how to sort?
    Thanks in advance

I don't know what the problem is and why this happens but if possible recovering your laptop and set it back to factory settings. Please test once more and send feedback.

It can be assumed that the problem may be, but the best test you can do is to put the laptop to factory settings again. Recovery image has been tested and if there is not some hardware problem everything should work properly again.

  • White screen on startup of the satellite C850

I bought a Toshiba Satellite C850 PSCBWA-05E001 so 18 months out of warranty now.
I bought it for a few friends, I gave him to who are in the Philippines, so it is difficult for me to check and repair. My friends lack the funds to get it checked if any help would be appreciated.

Some days he started to initiate a white screen. You can see the mouse, but that's all. They are unable to get the computer display anything. I read on several forums that it could be a video cable however I got them to hooked to an external monitor to work through the laptop's VGA output & restarted the laptop & the external monitor goes to white screen which are also seems to exclude a faulty video cable as this would affect the monitor to the laptop only I think.

I'm concerned that does not the video card is a graphics chip of integregrated I guess that means to replace the whole motherboard I guess.

Very disappointed for my friends since the machine is just out of warranty.
    Someone at - it ideas?

    > I am afraid that does not the video card is a graphics chip of integregrated I guess that means to replace the whole motherboard I guess.

Yes, I have fear of the motherboard must be replaced in case of malfunction of the graphics card of m.
It would be the worst cases because the new motherboard is very expensive and in most cases it s not worth buying a new motherboard if isn t valid warranty more.

I have no many solutions for you; It looks like a hardware problem and to resolve this problem, replace the defective part. But of course, it of a just a question of money :(

  • Satellite C850-1MC - repair screen tips

concerning replacing a cracked for the Toshiba Satelittle C850 1MC screen, I watched a series of videos, they're all generic principles on the replacement of the screen, which does not seem very difficult.

    I have basic experience in replacement parts, but never on a laptop, and I just want to make sure I get the right replacement for laptop screen;

There are various screen C850 replacements, everything will work for the 1MC? or do I need to get a specific screen for this notebook? for example, the C850D - 1 H 8 15.6 "LED display, which is a 40-pin connector, which would agree?

Basically, the screens are interchangeable on the satellite series, as long as it's the right size?

    Thank you

Generally all speakign display modules for Satellite C850 models should be compatible with your Satellite C850-1MC.

Satellite C850-1MC belongs to the PSCBWE series and the cell phone was equipped with a color TFT 15.6 LCD screen display "supporting the resolution of 1366 x 768 pix.

The screen mentioned for Satellite C850D - 1 H 8 must be compatible, even though the series is different

  • Sleep and charge utility does not work on Satellite C850-B763.

I have Toshiba Satellite C850-B763 unique language of windows 8.

When I try to run the sleep and cool service I get the message "unable to get hardware information.

After clicking ok, I got the sleep and Charge Control Panel, but boxes are disabled and the battery bar works very well.

    Can you please help?

First you should check if s for computer laptop USB port support the Sleep & Charge feature.
USB ports support load & sleep are marked with a small sign of flash.

Here a nice Youtube clip on "Sleep and Charge" feuture

In the case of the laptop supports this feature, you should take the next step and must check if sleep & support is enabled in the BIOS.
To access the BIOS, press F2 during the turn on/off the unit.
Note: the device should be turned off (hybrid closed must be disabled)

  • WIFI and BT do not work on Satellite C850-F12S

My friend has a portable Satellite C850-F12S who wouldn't start so he asked me to fix it.
I used a Windows 7 disc retail and product key as his cell phone to reinstall windows.

I downloaded the Atheros wireless, intel drivers and realtek, but none of them want to install. I have the seam of Ant to get the wifi or bluetooth, too much work.

When I enter the serial number in this site it is said that it is bluetooth and wifi but the drivers wont install and when I go to "network and sharing", "change adapter settings" it only shows the ethernet adapter nothing else. I tried pressing fn + f12 and the wireless led turns amber, but still nothing.

I ran out of ideas. Could someone help me fix it please?
    Thanks in advance

I can't read this specification for laptop (too small), but so deep is the product key, which means that this laptop model was offered with the original version of Windows preinstalled.
Before that you're wasting your time trying to fix something I recommend you install the original version of OS which includes all necessary drivers, tools and utilities.

I just hope that your friend have created recovery (DVD or USB) media because after your Windows disk recovery facility installation HARD does not work.

Ask your friend if there a recovery media and use it for the installation of the OS.

  • Satellite C850-1LK does not turn

    Hi people,

I'm trying to get a Satellite C850-1LK to turn on without success. When I connect the PSU it show initially an orange light indicating the power supply is connected. After a while of"charge" that the light has now turned white. Press and hold the power button has no effect. Laptop is no sign of life.

Hard drive sits, memory is sitting, the connections of the battery seems fine.

I remove the CMOS battery and left aside for 10 minutes. This has had an effect. When put back in place and power supply plugged in, the power main light and wifi light. Initial start-up turn on screen showing the logo of Tosihiba, but then I get a message, very briefly, that

    RTC battery is low *.
    Press on [F2 | to set Date/time.]

Only, which is for I would say a half a second, then the laptop stops just as if he lost power. Power supply light always on through. To duplicate that again, the CMOS battery must be removed again.

My question is, what is the cause. I do believe that it is the power supply. The battery itself has expired or is this a problem with the motherboard. Battery CMOS itself would be a problem?

Thanks for any advice that could be made.

    Usually the message
    + * Battery RTC is low * +.
    Support on [F2 | to set Date/time. +]
would seem, in the case where the RTC battery is empty.

But the case is that the RTC battery attached would always when the adapter is connected to the laptop, the main battery is connected and if the laptop is turned on.

In addition the laptop could be powered even if the RTC battery would be empty.
This is why I agree with Timox: I put t think its RTC battery problem.

I'm not quite sure of the memory of Mr. in many cases, the defective memory bars could prevent Notepad to start. I think that the modules of memory should be checked also.

In the worst cases, it might be possible that your motherboard or the part of the mother board as EPROM module is defective. But this should be verified by specialists.

After reading your ad, it is not easy to say what the problem is. The configuration of your laptop is not known for us, but maybe some third-party programs or service may be responsible for this.

It will be interesting to check out the minidump file and know what is the problem.

Try to start your computer in safe mode and let us know if the problem persists. If this is not the case, try to avoid software conflicts by preventing startup and loading non-Microsoft services.
