• PC laptop Envy 17: Envy 17 laptop PC fingerprint reader works only after the start

  The fingerprint on my Envy 17 reader reads only a fingerprint the first time that I connect once the system is booted (after shutdown or restart). From time to time, it will read once the system is locked, but that is extremely rare. I put the system in place using my MSN account and also configured SimplePass with default settings. SimplePass version is 8.00.57.

  I looked on several other issues in the forum and did not find something like this. Other issues reported when related to player doesn't work do not, for example. I found a few link in some messages describing such tasks that go back to a previous version of SimplePass.

  I don't know if it is related to my problem or not, but I noticed that the drive light sometimes flashes a sequence once the system is running. It seems that when the light flashes, it will not be read. It stops flashing when I placed my finger on the reader. (I think that the typical sequence is 3 flashes, pause, 1 flash. This cycle repeats.) This isn't always for that well, and I have found no correlation between the flashes and the measures taken after the initial logon.

  I made the fingerprint reader driver, rather than later.

  I uninstalled SimplePass (after update to the last with no luck) and the drive works fine now. I use RoboForm for my password management and it supports using the fingerprint so I'm covered there. I guess it should be renamed "SimplyNoPass."

Read the error message: "the fingerprint reader is not connected" so I followed the suggestion given in the forum. The new error message says I have need a program for IT is no program in the computer... I have not all system disks... none came with the computer. I'm not computer... help!

  My internal card reader is not recognized by Windows 7.  I have uninstalled and installed the drivers of many times without effect.  When I installed the drivers from the website of manufacturers or automatically by Windows, it is not recognized.  After installing it manually through the Device Manager, it is now recognized, but returns the error: this device cannot start. (Code 10).  This device worked perfectly with Vista, Win 7 Beta and Win 7 RC.  The USB port on the card reader works, but not the card reader itself.  Can I use an external card reader and read the card.  The driver is: 6.1.7100.30093 by Realtek.

  I solved the problem.  I have checked the connections to the motherboard and swapped USB1 and USB2 connections.  When I reconnected it everything the computer would not start.  I disconnected the connections usb case before and tried and it worked.  It seems that one of the two connections business is bad and the card reader to stop working at the origin.

  You should be able to register your fingerprint using the latest security HP Client Manager software.

  Simplepass uninstall and restart the computer before installing the software MSC.

  We need a little more information to help you with your problem.  Did you successfully download the installation package and install, or do you mean that the number of downloaded files, and you cannot install it to start?

  If it has been installed, it did not affect a large number of your icons which aren't actually PDFs on the Adobe Reader icon?  That's why you get the error message "set associations".  I have included a link below to help the program associations and programs by default.

  If it is installed, can you try a known PDF file and see if it opens?  You can also completely uninstall Adobe reader and reinstall and see if that solves your problem.  Please let us know if you have any other questions.  Thank you. Shane

  My HP Deskjet 722C now works!  I spent several hours trying different things only to find out it was the cable use to connect the printer to our new computer.  He is there not a lot of info on the package of cable but if you watched closely he said it worked only with Win XP, me and Vista.  Who would have thought that the cable wasn't working with some BONE... me!  Once we went and bought a new cable ($40, Ouch!), we were running a few minutes.  I don't know that a cheaper cable is available online.

  I wanted to post this in the hope of saving someone money, time and frustration on the other.
