Re: update frozen HP

I have a small question. I have a HP J4680 AIO printer running on a Macmini Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I don't get updates from HP and I was wondering if there is a HP Update Software available on a Mac. . Someone on this forum has tried to help me and now tells me that this is very probably a Mac problem. He did direct me to a site where I update my software, but it does not do it automatically. If I have to do it manually, this site would go?

Erna

If you are using Snow Leopard or Lion and you have the HP software before Snow Leopard (either from a CD not marked as compatible with 10.6 or you recently upgraded to Snow Leopard or Lion and had the software HP on your Mac before you upgrade - even if you made a standard from the old software uninstaller or installed new software on top of it) , you must uninstall the software by using the "scrubber":

Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard / click Uninstall HP
Click on continue
Highlight your device in the left pane
Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard at the same time as you click on uninstall< this="" is="" the="" scrubber="" option,="" there="" is="" no="" button="" labeled="">
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall all hp software. (At this point, if you continue, all HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click on continue and let it finish

Restart your Mac

Now reset the printing system:

-Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
-Right (control) click inside the box that lists your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - This will remove ALL your printers!
-Select the sign + to add again. Search for the printer, select it, and wait until the button 'Add' becomes available. Until it clicks.

  • My phone is lock and does not start after you install an update to Windows.

    After you have installed the Windows Vista Home Premium on my laptop, I am unable to start my laptop properly.

    Boots systems and load normally until the display of connection where instead of the login screen, I show the screen updated frozen on "Installing part 3/3 (0%) update." The laptop stays on this screen, with the cursor froze with a loading icon, for about half a minute until the screen shuts off and reboots the system, put the system in a loop, I can't on.

    I tried: turning off on and powered. using advanced boot options to open the system to all types of 'Safe Mode' and leaving the laptop for some time before trying to turn on the system again. All these things have not worked and the system remains in the lock down.

    I wonder if it is a common problem after the latest Vista updates or if it is more specific to my laptop. Whatever it is, any kind of feedback and advice would be most appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hi there calsparks!

    Thank you for bringing your question on the calendar of freezing and trolling since the update to iOS 10 on your iPhone for Apple Support communities.  I rely on the calendar to keep my life organized, so I'm happy to help you resolve this issue today.

    Looks like you did a few good troubleshooting by force to leave the app, force to restart the iPhone and deleting and reinstalling the application calendar.  At this stage my next recommendation would be to backup your iPhone, then erase and restore your iPhone as a new device, then test calendar to see if it behaves correctly, and then restore your backup.

  • Update of Firefox seems to be frozen. The mouse does not work on Firefox at all.

    I updated Firefox when it was asked to do. Now, when loading, the mouse doesn't on Firefox at all. I've seen suggestions to go in the Options or help, but frankly, it's impossible because the screen seems to be totally frozen. The only thing I can do is to open the Task Manager and close the program.

    I will note that once or twice, it seems to work very slowly. For example, I would like to click on something and about a minute or later, he would answer a little bit, but again, the mouse never seemed not at all working again.

    Do a clean reinstall and remove the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a new copy of Firefox.

    Download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.

    Uninstall your current version of Firefox, if possible, the settings in the software security and cleaning of the Windows registry.

    • Do NOT remove the data personal when you uninstall your current version of Firefox, because all profile files will be deleted and you will also lose your personal data such as bookmarks and passwords from other versions of Firefox profiles.

    Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

    Your bookmarks and other profile data is stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a uninstall and (re) install, but make sure that 'delete personal data' is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

    If you keep problems also create a new profile.

    Ugggh.  I have a 27-inch iMac late 2011 and the hard drive was updated with a new SSD.  The integrated cd/dvd had to be taken out.  I then bought a thought of superdrive, it should work.  It's frozen on my iMac!  Gee, who could have possibly guessed that would happen?  I tried all kinds of silly workarounds, I found on the internet, but still it will not register the stack of DVDs and other discs I have.

    If you're like me and upgraded your iMac that came with a cd/dvd drive internal... so he has to come out to give way to the fusion or the SSD drive, do NOT buy the apple superdrive.  It will work with your computer!

    Think I'll get a laptop samsung...

    Ironic, isn't it? Own Apple SuperDrive will not work with Apple computers. Shame you don't check here first that we would have warned you. Return Apple overpriced and buy a nice third-party player for a third of the price. I love the LG units. You can consider a loading plate because they are more reliable, and you can use these pesky disc when you get one.

  • Frozen at configuring updates: stage 3 of 3

    When I went to close last night, he said he would install updates before shutting down. unfortunatally, it took all night and still is to do. I had to close down and on every turn on it only for sticks to this screen but no progress, he is frozen on this screen.  I contacted the support HP who sent me a link to microsoft... problem is when I got my laptop for Christmas, he came with a boot disk.  Can someone advise me? It's a laptop hp 550, with vista home basics, and there will be no Ctrl + alt + delete either.

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If the above does not work, try to make a Bootable ERD to do a Startup Repair:
    As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.
    As your grave in the category above, download the ISO on the provided link and do a repair of the disc.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
    Hello
    1. which version of the Windows operating system is installed on your computer?
    2. What is the error message or an exact error code?
    First of all, I would say you reboot the computer and check if that helps. If restarting the computer did not work, then try the following and check if it helps.
    Method 1:
    Start in safe mode and put the computer in a clean boot state, and check if that helps.
    How to solve the problem by running the clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note: once you have completed troubleshooting, perform the steps in the step 7: to reset the computer as usual.
    Note: the steps apply to Windows 7 and Windows Vista
    Method 2:
    Perform the system restore and restore the computer to a point when the computer was working fine and check if it helps.
    In Windows 7 system restore:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/products/features/system-restore
    In Windows Vista system restore:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/products/features/system-restore
    Note: If you are unable to boot to the desktop, it would be better to complete the restore of the Windows environment recovery system and check if it helps.
    What are the system recovery options in Windows 7?
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-are-the-system-recovery-options-in-Windows-7
    Method 3:
    Try the steps in the following Microsoft article and check if it helps.
    The problems with the installation of the updates:
    Windows Vista: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Troubleshoot-problems-with-installing-updates
    Windows 7: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Troubleshoot-problems-with-installing-updates
    And also check the error before installing the Windows updates.
    Hope the information is helpful; If the problem persists, please respond to us with the error code or error message.
    If there are updates failed, then try to download and install the stand-alone package with updates from the Microsoft Download Center.
    a. to download updates from the Microsoft Download Center
