Read a resistance of the diode by vs NI USB multimeter

Hello

I read a resistance of the diode at some entrances to supply voltage

and I found that

to 0.2 V

the value of resistance by NI USB-6212: 200 ohms

the value of resistance of meter: 2 kohm

0.5 v

the value of resistance by NI USB-6212: 500 ohm

the value of resistance of the multimeter: 5 kohm.

Could you please let me know why the values are different by 10 times?

Thank you.

No - we can't measure the resistance in this way.

To measure resistance, you normally spend a current known and then measure the voltage. A DMM will be repeated by generating a little known current and measuring the internal tension. If you provide an external voltage thus, DMM internal resistance measurement will not work.

For the LabVIEW - The USB-6212 can measure the tension. If you want to measure resistance, while the unit is plugged, you need to know/measure current (for example through a shunt resistance) and the tension and then do R = V / I for the resistance. I don't know what the argument of type 6212 if you try to perform a measure of 'resistance', as it is not a source of internal current.

Oh, I thought that this all seemed familiar - here's a similar thread: https://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/daqmx-resistance-measurement-6251/td-p/3267084

I have a problem with a PXI-2530 switch card work in matrix mode 4 X 32. I need to determine the resistance of the pairs of specific relay within the matrix. I have a PXI-4130 and a PXI-4071 in the same chassis, so I take measures 4-wire in a configuration like this...

Resistance symbols represent relays in the switch. Here is a representation of matrix-style switch routes I use. (This should look more like the interface of soft face before switch)

With this measure I'm mesure.0873 ohms. I can have the same resistance as the first example except getting a very different measure.

It gets even more interesting. If I had to take 4 pairs of wires, I use here, there are 16 possible configurations. I took each of these measures, and half of them gave me environ.25 ohms while the other half gave me environ.09 ohms. I tried this on a 2nd chassis and got the same result. My data are in the attached sheet. (My examples above are rows 1 & 5.)

Taking the measure of how we are, all these measures should be substantially the same. I have a current source constant, (I even tried a crimp in instead of the 4130 and got the same result.) and the meter is high impedance.    If I had a pattern for the PXI-2530, I could do a little more analysis to know why I get various measures. Is there some diodes clamp on the lines or columns in the matrix? Something external must act solange this circuit. If I can find out what that is, I could determine my resistance to relay to a quantifiable level of uncertainty.

  • 9234 sensor back to resistance of the chassis

My question is about the NI 9234 module and terminal return (HAVE) resistance to the chassis. On the side of the module, the diagram shows a 50 Ohm resistor to the chassis. However, when measured using a multimeter, the resistance is much higher (order 500 kohm.) I hope someone might be able to explain this discrepancy. My only thought is that, based on the data sheet, there are current limiting diodes present between performance and 50 Ohm resistance that may have an impact on the measurement. I don't understand how it would be possible, however. Any help is appreciated.

Watch back to back diodes in series with the 50 ohm. They are probably affecting your measure if your DMM does not exceed the voltage of conduction of them (don't know what the specs are on the diodes).

  • Problem reading SD card after the mode reader 'sleep' Portege R500 SP1

    Hi all

I still have the problem, that my new Portege R500 with Vista SP1 does nor react when reading / writing on a SD card. This only happens when the SD card is inserted and I wake the R500 from his sleep. All read or written in the SD card will lock the PC and the R500 must be turned off hard. I tried this with different SD cards with always the same result. The R500 was freshly installed from the recovery DVD and even installing from a DVD SP1 Microsoft at any time has the same exact behavior. All the drivers are up to date, Bios 1.60. I also tried to remove the entry in Device Manager and reinstalled.

I found on the Microsoft site a patch, that describes exactly this issue: [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936825 | http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936825]. But this patch cannot be installed under Vista SP1. Microsoft says that it is already included in the Vista SP1. But it still does not.

Any other idea? Or what I have to live with it?

    Best regards
    Stefan

    Hello Stefan

I can imagine that this problem is quite annoying for you, but otherwise, you can disconnect SD card when you have no more need. I can't imagine that it must be inserted at all times.

I can imagine there are a few conflicts between the patches from Microsoft and Toshiba driver but such bugs should be fixed by some Toshiba updates or hotfixes Microsoft. What to say? I'm afraid at the moment that you must live with it.

By the way: post please exactly the model of mobile number and give some info on the SDCard (capacity). Perhaps someone with the same model laptop and the same card can test and view the results.

  • I try to start the old T2150CDT - error message "not found reading drive C of the sector.

    Hello

I came by one of them and trying to fire, but I get the message, "sector not found reading drive C". I get this message just after windows 98 logo appears.

Problem is that I am limited in what I can do, because I don't have a floppy drive and back does not recognize the CD drive (missing drivers); Although I can hear it when starting upwards.

So I out the HARD drive and pasted the installation windows 98 inside files. then tried to reinstall, but I still have the message of "sector not found reading drive C". The drive is too large (it's about 2.1 GB.)

Install the right drivers for the CD Rom would allow me to install from a CD?

    It works usually
    Thank you
    John

As far as I know the error message; "Sector not found reading drive C" appears because of these three reasons:
    -physical HARD drive failure
    -corrupted HARD drive file system
    -Bad RAM

In the first case, you should try to format the whole HARD drive and should try to install the new OS.
If it will not help, chances are that HARD drive is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.

  • Need help for reading in parallel on the same interface and writing XNET

Hello. I need help to configure CAN interface to write and read from the same interface.

    I use NI PXI-8513/2. I use CAN1 as interface.

My had TO send status messages CAN every 100ms. I have to read in order to return akntoowlege to keep DUT CAN interface happy and not make mistakes.

So, I want to open Strim Session and readall frames in the loop. At the same time, I need to be able to write in a frame HAD at the time...

I only need to read one picture at a time too, but since I know the ID, I can pull it from the stream.

What I'm confusing all is how to put in place the same CAN1 interface to be able to write and read in parallel.

I think I would get errors that interface is already in use.

Since I'm new to CAN, I was read and write only when necessary. But, sometimes I was getting errors on my messages. Sometimes I get message, sometimes miss me. But, when I run CAN test criminal as sniffer he sends and written every time. I was told it's because it recognizes all messages.

I opened to suggestions of how best to implement the interface.

I guess I can use CAN2 and separator to work around this problem, but I would use an interface if possible.

    Thank you

    Hi Rus,

The XNET hadrware takes care of most of the low level of detials for you. The reading and writing of the circuits are both connected to the bus at any time. When you write to the hardware it will try to put a frame on the bus at the first opportunity he can. If the frame loses arbitration material re - will attempt to send the frame up is successful. Reception equipment monitor activity on the bus, regardless of what it conveys. The material received will usually throw a framework that was sent by communication equipment, but there is an Echo property pass to circumvent this behavior too.

Take a look at the example of the expedition: MAY-> NI - XNET-> Sessions-> multiple Sessions Intro-> CAN even exit entry framework Port unique Point.vi. Keep in mind that this example you will need to use a second CAN interface to recognize frames, it transmits. I would recoment against the example CAN output Frame Single Point which would mimic your ECU if you choose a type of cyclic frame running this example.

  • PC laptop Envy 17: Envy 17 laptop PC fingerprint reader works only after the start

The fingerprint on my Envy 17 reader reads only a fingerprint the first time that I connect once the system is booted (after shutdown or restart). From time to time, it will read once the system is locked, but that is extremely rare. I put the system in place using my MSN account and also configured SimplePass with default settings. SimplePass version is 8.00.57.

I looked on several other issues in the forum and did not find something like this. Other issues reported when related to player doesn't work do not, for example. I found a few link in some messages describing such tasks that go back to a previous version of SimplePass.

I don't know if it is related to my problem or not, but I noticed that the drive light sometimes flashes a sequence once the system is running. It seems that when the light flashes, it will not be read. It stops flashing when I placed my finger on the reader. (I think that the typical sequence is 3 flashes, pause, 1 flash. This cycle repeats.) This isn't always for that well, and I have found no correlation between the flashes and the measures taken after the initial logon.

I made the fingerprint reader driver, rather than later.

I uninstalled SimplePass (after update to the last with no luck) and the drive works fine now. I use RoboForm for my password management and it supports using the fingerprint so I'm covered there. I guess it should be renamed "SimplyNoPass."

  • VISA read lose characters beyond the end of the output string

    Hello

I wrote a VI to take a string of output data of an ardunio Uno and analysand. I use the vi read Visa to enter the output channel of the unit. In the end I will connect a device that actually gives the value in this type of format string: (#80212164,2289,2292,2296,2300,2328,2289,2297,2290,2300,2308,2292,2295,2298,2289,22,24,0 *).

So after a large number of loops, the program starts to drop the last characters of the string that it generates. If the string of Visa Read output reads something like (#80212164,2289,2292,2296,2300,2328,2289,2297,2290,2300,2308,2292,2295,2298,2289,22,24,). The only way to solve this problem, once it has occurred must completely close labview (completely). Once I open again and start the program running, all is well in the world.

Has anyone had this problem? I tried to debug it in different ways and the only weird symptom I have other Visa Read function lose a few characters of the string is the fact that by looking at the bytes to the Port after I read visa, is that she starts showing five bytes instead of zero.

my last attempt at resolving this issue is attached.

Note: The Ardunio outputs a string of this format every 2 seconds with the values being incrimental on a specified range. (80212164,2289,2292,2296,2300,2328,2289,2297,2290,2300,2308,2292,2295,2298,2289,22,24,0 # *)

You can configure the * your character of termination if your Arduino does not send the carriage return or line feed.  Use the configure a Serial Port to ensure that your settings are correct.  You can also use this VI to increase your timeout so that you no longer need your waiting.

  • VISA do not read serial data in the right order

    Hi all

I'm working on a project, when I need sample data at point A, it passes these (zigbee) wireless data to point B and here rs232 connection to the laptop.

I'm using labview 2011 to view sampled data, but I have a little problem, data are not entered into labview in the right order and this is quite crucial in my application. I have attached some photos and my vi to describe the problem in detail.

Data are packaged in the following form: AS:number1:number2:...:number49:\r - where is the beginning, followed by the values of the sample character separated by: and the last is followed by a return at the end of the cart package.

When I view the data in different terminals (PuTTY, tera term ect.) then the data is in the correct order.

To make the most obvious problem, I place the sampling to count an integer of 16-bit instead of the real samling

The png sample of teraterm is how it is supposed to look like. The vi_sample.png is the string of labview, which is false, I've highlighted a few errors in the visample. When using the VI, I noticed that all the data is collected, but not in the right order.

The missing Subvi is a few small VI that reads the input rs232 string and control the various indicators of this.

I hope that you are able to help me with my problem.

    Concerning

    Tommy

In the structure of case where read you the serial port you are adding at the beginning of the string rather than allow the addition. In other words, you build the answer backwards.

Your method of reading is contradictory. You have configured the VISA session to stop playing when he sees a carriage return, but you do not actually. You have configured it so tell some bytes are on the serial port. Maybe it's not the set of bytes, since you have no delay between writing and reading, so you can be is only half of the message. If you use the method of termination, then reading VISA should have great value wired to the bytes to be read. Then, when VISA Read see the stop character, it will stop automatically. If you use the bytes available, then you need a mini loop to keep reading until you see the end of the response. Choose one or the other - don't try to play both ways.

  • TCP Read and Write at the same time

    Hello everyone,

I have a question about parallelism in TCP connections.

I know that it is possible to read and write on the same connection ID.

So, if you ReadTCP and WriteTCP block each other, if you use the same TCP connection ID?

Or to request more precise if I run two while loops, in parallel, with one end by calling WriteTCP and the other called ReadTCP.

one of the delay of loops (or block) will be the other if both loops call their VI TCP at the same time right?

The system is Windows 7 and Labview 2012.

    Kind regards

    Sebastian

They are perfectly parallel.  Just write in one and read it from the other.  There is no conflict.

See My TCP articles for more details.
