reasonable time to repair

DV4-1220us my daughter is in a store that has high reputations, including a + BBB score. I took this shop because there is no warrity on his cell phone.  Today the store called and told us that the cooling fan is stuck and had to be replaced.  In addition, thermal plate must be replaced as well.  The quote, they gave us includes the work of 2 hours.

Several friends told me that they do not have bleieve it take over an hour to do this work.  I'm NOT able to find out what is a reasonable working time for these replacements on DV4-1220us.  Anyone has any info on what can be verified?

Thank you

Lee

I want you to know that I found a very convincing video in YouTube in which a tech began early on, stripped to the motherboard (taking all the way) replaced the motherboard and put it back together to turn on the laptop, total length less than 48 minutes.  The technology was not rushed in the video and he took the time to show us this and that, as he explained.

The way I see it, if fan and themeral cooling plate is screwed to the motherboard, it must be done within the time directed by the video...  I hope that the tech will charge me an hour, no not two cited.

I would be grateful for any info on Toshiba political about guaranteed repair times. Their service company licensed in Poland kept my A300 for 3 weeks and keeps telling me to wait a few more days.

Y at - it any policy of Toshiba set only if they are not able to repair the computer within a given time they refund or Exchange the device in a new?

Thanks in advance for your comments. Pawel, Poland

    Hi pavo22,

Unfortunately, I think that there is no policy that defines the guaranteed repair time. It also depends on the availability of spare parts Toshiba. Maybe your authorized service provider is still waiting for a new card of mother or any other room

I don t know it, but if you would call and ask them friendly, they can tell you why it takes a little more time as usual. Explain the situation that they have the laptop already 3 weeks and you need it immediately. From my own experience, I can say that the technicians are friendly and do his best

Hey, I totally understand you. Everyone want that the own laptop will be repaired in a day or two but the exception proves the rule ;)

  • Time of repair and status

I sent my TX for repair on 9 October.  As web status is not updated, I tried the cat and the voice of support.  They tell me it was received on 15 October and I should have this return in 7 to 10 days.  Since this time, cat support told me that voice should be able to give me some detailed info.  Voice support say they can tell me nothing buthe date of receipt and that it must be returned "in the coming days."  Is it possible to know what happened to my camera?

  • All VM to restart without reason time Saturdays

    Hey guys

I have an IBM x 3650 M2 server running VMware vSphere 4 4.1 ESXi hypervisor.

I run 5 X vm (all the Server 2008 - DC + TS + Exchange + SQL 3CX) on this subject and he had thankfully been browsing until recently.

I had a hard drive go in all about raid 5 weeks ago. Who replaced by IBM and the RAID set rebuilt ok. Everything was stable.

It was time for me to run a few updates, so 3 weeks (on Friday) I upgraded Exchange 2010 SP3 with rollup 6. Also, I installed the latest version of 2 X Application on the TS gateway and installed the latest updates of windows on the 3CX server.

The 3CX Server disliked updates and after restarting, the NIC would not connect. A few reboots, then it was OK.

I got everything done around 06:00 this morning. Everything worked well, Went to sleep and woke up to a notification indicating that the virtual machine has restarted at 14:45 this Saturday in the afternoon.

I checked the IBM host and which had not restarted, no errors in the logs.

I checked the VMware Console, just had a restart notification in events. I checked the VM logs from the data store and he just said that the virtual machine is restarted.

Everything seemed ok, so I just a random reboot.

However, next Saturday at 14:45 exactly the same thing happened, at the same time correct!

I waited a week and enough course at 14:45 the same thing Saturday.

I am at a loss as to what is the cause. I couldn't find all the scheduled tasks that might make and if it was material I thought that the IBM host must be rebooted.

It's more complicated. Someone has seen something like this before? Do you guys think might happen?

    Kind regards

    Aaron

So, I finally solved the problem of restarting!

One of the batteries died in the ups this week while we needed to replace it. We decided not to put a new UPS, since then no restart! If the former ups must have been a bit unstable and cause the host to reboot. So weird it was the exact same every week.

    I can now sleep easier!

  • I do a repair system EACH time disc that I perform an Image backup system?

I do one every time system repair disc I perform an Image backup system?

    (Win7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1)

    Thank you.

    Craig, AMTELCO

P.S. I really did a lot of digging before asking. While I picked up some useful tips in the case, I do simply not the connection.

The Windows repair CD is designed to put you in an environment where you can perform these functions:

    • Perform a system restore.
    • Perform a restore of the Image.
    • Open a command prompt.
    • Repair the boot environment.

All these functions are independent of service packs or updates. It is, therefore, no need to update your repair CD. Also note that an installation of Windows 7 DVD can be used as a Windows repair DVD. Again once he doesn't have any need to update.

  • Frustrated by process of Motorola for repair... address to ship to?

My son's droid does not work properly, it will be:

Reboot your system with its own and sometimes will enter a reboot loop again and again

Sometimes reboot to a bootload black screen

sometimes reboot and finally turns on but have no service

Change the date to January 1969

We did restore factory a couple of times removed the battery to help it get reset the countless times.

Other times it may work for a day or two at a time without any problem... anyway, it is under warranty, but try to get a RMA # (which I finally) was almost impossible.  Called motorola and hear talk about the motorola (online) troubleshooting tool, but decide to simply talk to someone.  Someone gets on the line and said that calls are saved so that they could remember... I decide to just use the online troubleshooting tool and make the presentation of online repair.  I'm going through all online deal and on the last step when I press on continue he always comes up with a message saying "sorry your device is not recognized in our system."  So I call back the next day and get the same story while giving them my phone number and they would call me back as soon as they could, so I did.  I'M STILL WAITING AS THE CALLBACK.  So I'm doing the live chat and the person of motorola decided that needs phone sent... Then, he sends me an email with directions to send it in... HOWEVER, the email directs me to the online troubleshooting tool!  Already tried.  Called again and got someone on the phone within a reasonable time, but the phone call took 36 minutes.  He has submitted Everything to me and gave me my RMA and sent an email with instructions and, probably, the address where to ship it... Apparently he didn't send it or get my email wrong because I'm still waiting to get it... so

Does anybody know what address (through motorola) to ship the droid to repair?

    You're going to love technology!

    Thank you

    Darren

I agree with the other post 2 but 1 thing to keep in mind is (I discovered) If your droid is over a period of thirty days, then they will have to send for a unit "certified like new" refurbished for me it worked well enough it took 2-3 days and the phone I got works as well as a new and something else is if you come back to a refurbished phone , you will need to keep your battery and extend as well as your original droid microSD card the renovated does not include these items, why I'm not sure but it worked well and is really not that big of a problem at least I didn't think so good luckwith he...

  • Bad sectors on the hard drive; help to isolate or repair

Hello, recently I discovered that my windows get to slump that closely mimics a gel at a random time. After a lot of research on this topic, I did several diagnostic tests on my laptop and finally reduced to my hard drive.
The problem is evident for the following reasons:
    • When I tried to run chkdsk/r/f, which is always translated by he stuck to "step 4: check the data in the file" around 70%.
    • When the slowdown occurs, the resource monitor from Task Manager for the disk activity showed 1 KB/s (not sure if this is suspicious)
    • Tried various hard drive diagnostic tools. WinDLG gets blocked for a certain sector, but has never even if I waited for 6 h +. SeaTools for DOS has reported that the hard drive failed the tests. Dell diagnostic tool also pointed out the hard drive, is not the test of confidence in some sectors. Toshiba Diagnostics tool did not work as I could not highlight the readers so he could test.
Formally, this means that I have bad sectors on the hard drive and I want to know if there are solutions to 'fix' or isolate him rather than replace the hard drive. The hard drive is only a year old and I would like to get as much time as I can with the drive without having to spend on a new.
In addition, I also came to this post here which seems to reflect the same situation:
However, there are a few parts where I am confused and does not really apply to my situation (for example, meanwhile his stage 5, for me its stage 4). Thanks in advance for any help.

CHKDSK does not indicate a failing hard drive, it indicates problems with the filesystem (NTFS.sys) hard disk.  I like to repeat because that may indicate more out of trouble (if you get several times CHKDSK repair things, then something else is the cause).

    That's what I'm looking for:
"Windows has made corrections to the file system."
    Know me mistakes.

DO NOT use the drivers from the resource CD.  They are overwhelmed when you get them.  Go to the Dell support site and download the latest versions here.

Unfortunately, unless your highly qualified with a soldering iron on small electric parts, then there is no replacement of the part.  Also unfortunately, there is no test for a motherboard problem, so we have to everything else on the rule.

If it passes all the tests, it indicates that it passed all tests.  All these tests are software - they can not physically 'see' a hardware problem, but can deduct that it based on the results of the tests.

I suggest you a few additional tests before start thinking that it's the mobo.  They are Prime95 test and tests stress CPU at this link: http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html

I also suggest another facility 'clean' - just to be sure.  Here's what I propose for a clean install:
    [quote]
For testing purposes, it is best to install Windows "clean".
It is, basically, install the way that Microsoft intended (with the drivers from Windows Update).
This procedure is for Windows 7, Vista is similar (but has 2 service packs)

You will need your installation/recovery DVD (s) before you start.  Once you wipe the hard drive, there is no going back!

1 back up all your data.
It will wipe everything off of your hard drive, so what you want to keep should be backed up elsewhere.

[b] [u] NOTES: [/ b] [/ u] If this is due to an infection, remember to analyze the data with current antivirus to another system to locate and remove malware.

    2. connect the system to the internet (if the system shows then disconnect from the Internet, do).

    3. use one of these free utilities to wipe the hard drive:
    DBAN (http://www.dban.org/download)
    KillDisk (http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm).
This will remove also any partition system - then the intallation/recovery recovery DVD are essential!

    4. install Windows by booting from the installation/recovery DVD - [b] [u] DO NOT change any settings! [/ u] [/ b]

5 visit Windows Update and get all updates

6 visit Windows Update and download the Service Pack 1 (normally under important updates).  Read these notes for installing SP1: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2505743

7 visit Windows Update and get any other available updates

    8. check device for all unknown/disabled devices Manager - if there are unknown disabled devices, secure them with the latest drivers from the website of the manufacturer of the device (not the PC manufacturer)

9 download, install and update a free antivirus, so it does not get infected during the test (http://www.carrona.org/freeav.html).

[u] if problems persist [/ u], the problem is probably with your hardware.

  • Disk error backup external hard Time machine

    Hello
While that hurry to catch a flight, I accidentally disconnected my external hard drive (which I use for time machine backups) before ejecting.  Now the House, the time machine backup does not recognize my external hard drive.  I went into disk utility to try to repair the disk.  Here's what he said:

Verify and repair volume 'Time Machine' Repair file system. File system check exit code is updated 8. support partition for the volume as requires it. Error: disk utility can't repair the disk. Back to the top as many files as possible, reformat the drive and restore your backed up files.

I could really use some help as to how I should proceed.  Any advice?

I think you need to clear this backup disk, and while you are this and do a full backup (which takes all afternoon to all night) you will be working without a net. If you do in idle time, and after checking your boot disk, the risk of catastrophic failure while the backup is low. Start now and in the future, you will have a backup.

If you have a different backup disk, add it and Time Machine will create a new independent backup on it, and then Time Machine alternate disks automatically.

  • No backups to my Time Machine...

I changed provider from BT to Virgin Media internet services since July 5 and since then my Time Machine did not have all the backups as it usually does in a reasonable time.

I tried to change the USB ports on the capsule in order to get this to work but my MacBook Pro (early 2011 edition) comes up with information that he cannot find the Time Machine on the network.

I'm at my wits end that l have tried everything in the book without success.

Can someone please give me some advice in order to solve the problem?

I changed the internet provider from BT to Virgin Media since July 5

Could you please provide the number of brand and model of the modem, modem/router or gateway device that you are using at the moment?

  • Time capsule starts only after the last update

My Time Capsule (A1409, 2 TB) is do not restart after having applied the most recent update. Has worked for years in my small locker in the basement connected to my local network. Fan seems to be working (vibrations of feeling) which connection to the power source, but the LED shows NO color. HW-Reset either doesn't help not. Probably from power supply? As the machine is not under warranty, what are my options (all) to retrieve the data on it?

Other options apart from opening and get the HD out and connect it to a USB box to retrieve the data?

What is the best way to transfer the existing backups to a new capsule so that (ideally) my 4 existing Mac can pickup their backup where they went before?

Thanks for any input / advice / tips.

Bonus question: any practice of best approaches on the Capsule of backup for the future (for example via a connected USB drive)?

I intend to buy a new (although my NAS (QNAP) would support Time Machine backups, I don't plan to use it, not even for a double-backup-strategy).

    Probably from power supply?

Vibration isn't the hard drive running... the fan... feeding is very well... the jury has no... was triggered by the update of the firmware, it would have happened soon anyway.

What are my options (all) to retrieve the data on it?

You MUST open the TC... There is no way to access the data except in order to open it... However, you can repair the TC using this method.

    s/Apple-time-capsule-repair/GEN4-a1409-issues https://sites.google.com/site/lapastenague/a-deconstruction-of-routers-and-modem

It sounds gross... but has a long history in the world of Apple as a faulty weld is not a new problem.

What is the best way to transfer the existing backups to a new capsule so that (ideally) my 4 existing Mac can pickup their backup where they went before?

We recommend that you do NOT. It is often not successful and it is better to keep an archive on a USB drive for a few months and once you have a decent amount of history to put the USB back to other uses.

You can copy the sparsebundle to each computer... Apple has a set of instructions--small as usual.

    Backups transfer TM...

    Doco Apple. http://support.Apple.com/kb/ht5097

    Pondini doco http://pondini.org/TM/18.html

Any practice of best approaches on the Capsule of backup for the future (for example via a connected USB drive)?

A TC has only a function of archive built in. Whenever you press on archive it backs up the entire TC on USB... not possible for incremental backup.

You can work around this by using Carbon Copy Cloner... which can save almost anything to almost anywhere... However, it is extremely slow more wireless when the backup drive is plugged into the USB TC rather than on the computer... To copy all packages to TC on computer... computer to TC... TC on the USB drive.

On ethernet, it is full duplex and should work ok... but it is always faster to plug the drive into the Mac and so you travel go simple package.

I intend to buy a new (although my NAS (QNAP) would support Time Machine backups, I don't plan to use it, not even for a double-backup-strategy).

I would certainly use the QNAP but with Carbon Copy Cloner rather than Time Machine. It is much more reliable and flexible... Although it lacks the possibility of several version of TM.

A dual strategy of backup using TM and CCC is well worth... make clones bootable from all your computers on USB auto powered 2.5 "drives suitable size for each computer.

Any ideas if it can be fixed or if it's as I read elsewhere dead now?

He died... the fact that the main witness turns off is unusual in this model.

It is common to the next... A1409 (gen4)

What happens in the Gen3 is normally a few deaths on the Board... or a bunch of capacitors is low...

    See s/apple-time-capsule-repair/new-issue-with-a1355-gen-3-tc https://sites.google.com/site/lapastenague/a-deconstruction-of-routers-and-modem

If yours is a very fine introduces Gen3 just before Gen 4, it is possible that the same fix on the Gen 4 could work.

    s/Apple-time-capsule-repair/GEN4-a1409-issues https://sites.google.com/site/lapastenague/a-deconstruction-of-routers-and-modem

I found early Gen4 may fail as Gen3 but must admit that I am yet to see the Gen3 with welding problems.

I doubt repair is worth it. The Gen3 is now about 6 years... give or take... This is way beyond the standard lifetime of a TC.

If you want to play, I'm happy to help you... but I would not spend money on it.

  • Where can I repair my Satellite M305-S4848

    Hello

I live in Turkey and I need to fix my computer.
Where can I teach my warranty time and repair of offices in Turkey.

When I entered my serial number and part, I saw Product Registration part. What is it?

    Thanks for helping me.

    Hello

If I understand correctly, you want to know where is the service center in Turkey. It's Istanbul, Burhaniye Mah. NESET Bey Sok 7. Product registration is to register your laptop, as I know, to extend the warranty for 1 more year.

  • My 'light' stays off even if it is properly connected. Finished my time machine?

My 'light' stays off even if it is properly connected. How can I solve this problem?

Unfortunately, Apple does not provide repairs or even for the time Capsule repair parts.  If the Capsule is still under warranty, Apple will replace the device for you. Or, if you have AppleCare implemented one of your Mac and the Capsule is less than 3 years, Apple will also replace the device for you.

There are 5 different versions of the time Capsule, so if your device is not covered by warranty or the AppleCare, whether or not repairs might be possible will depend on what model you have and how old the device that can be.

You have the "tower" version of time Capsule-shaped, or the old version 'flat' or 'square '?

If you have the old version of flat, square, look on the bottom of the unit for the model number. It starts with an "A" followed four digits.

  • Time Machine is unable to finish his first full backup

I am running OS X Lion 10.7.5 on my Mac Mini in 2011.  I recently had Melrose Mac increase its 16 MB RAM and HD sound internal to a 2 TB drive and they have cloned my original data and restored on the new drive.

Then, I partitioned the drive and installed El Capitan, Yosemite, and Snow Leopard on each of these partitions.  Who are all the Mac OS X extended (journaled).  Each partition correctly starts and runs.

Then, I took my LaCie 2 Bay drive, with 1 t readers in each Bay, wiped and set up as 'Fast' while it will be seen as a 2 t drive and chose this drive for Time Machine in Leo.  This disc is also Mac OS X extended (journaled).

About halfway through the first backup (350 GB), I get the following message from Time Machine; now it happens more quickly:

And here it is recreated Time Machine in system preferences:

I followed the instructions several times using repair in the disk on the primary drive of LaCie and its partitin utility, but it does not report errors.  Then the first Time Machine backup will fail again about half way through.

I've been reviewing Pondini suggestions, but they do not cover this specific message and they do not seem to find the problem.

    Any thoughts?

Moderators, please move this to the subheading appropriate; as Mac OS X Lion/Time Machine and remove this message.  Thank you.
