Recognition of password

I have a ThinkPad R40-2897-93ü.  I fixed the DC power connector and then turn the computer back together, when I turn it on I get a message from 0176 ereror (the computer has been tampered with).  The power icon - the password is displayed.  When I enter the password used for more than a year, it is no longer recognized, and I have no way to get into the bios.  Is repairing the DC connector considered tampering and thaere a way to fix the problem that someone may have also known.

Thanks for the help!

Have you swapped the DC-In cable completely or tried to fix something yourself?

  • Satellite A300 - issue Downgrade from Vista to XP

    Hi all...
    IM intending to get rid of my windows Vista SP2 (32 bit) and XP SP3 (32 bit). My laptop is: [Satellite A300 - 1 G 5 | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=EU&com.broadvis ion.session.new = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 1055589].

Now, I studied the topic before posting. When the first time I tried to install XP laptop does not recognize the CD of the OS and I failed. Later, I found a topic suggesting through the BIOS and change the HHD of ACHI to compatibility mode, so I did and it works but I have not installed yet. I have a few question reclassification process.

    1. once I have install the XP, can I put the AHCI mode? gives me a better performance (I really don't know what is ACHI!)
    2. this void my warranty?
    3. If I had a problem, the XP installation failed for some reason any and no OS on my laptop, will still be able to use the recovery DVDs to restore my laptop?
    4. now, the issue of the pilots. Here: [list of drivers Vista | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU] and here: [list of Drivers XP | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU], the question as follows:

    (A) some drivers exist in the list of drivers Vista but does NOT exist in XP driver list; as: DVD player, facial recognition, supervisor password, driver of the SRT, tiles for the mobility and WPS Library Center. What should I do?

    (B) is there a specific order to install drivers? as a driver for a device must exist before a driver to avoid conflicts or overwrite files?

    (C) there are several drivers for the same device, how to choose one? example: the Wireless Lan Driver has several companies (Realtek Semiconductor Corporation, Atheros and Intel); which I will use?

    5. is it true that Vista is better than XP mobility? will (consumption and the heat of power management) XP my laptop do suffer from heat because the laptop is already packed with vista? I mean, they tried what OS fits perfectly on the machine, unless Toshiba push just Vista people because Microsoft needs that... lol

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Hope that my questions are clear, I had something else to ask, its a matter of opinion. are there advantages of Vista on XP? I use my laptop for some games and make some 3Ds MAX, which both require a lot of RAM, Vista eats up to 1 GB of my RAM, so that XP barely fill half a GB of RAM, that is my main concern when I decided to go for XP. I'd like to hear your opinions and experience life...

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

In my opinion there is no great reason to change to Windows XP Home edition OS. Optimize Vista can also run well and stable on your laptop. I was very skeptical on Vista but now after a year of use I can work very well with it. Soon we will again have Win7 and it should work much better than Vista.

My point of view is in a hurry and do not always return to comfortable. Of course, you can do what you want and your decision is quite legitimate. I imagine that you will get better performance under Windows XP Home edition for all activities, that you do every day.

I must also say that you did the right thing to pick up some info before you start the installation of Windows XP Home edition. On this forum, you can find a lot of interesting and useful discussions.

    Back to your questions:
    1 n ° best performance, you'll have under ACHI.

    # 2 you can install what you want.

3 Yes, but only the DVD. F8 option no longer works and the image on the second partition will be useless.

    4
At the drivers, tools and utilities are not the same for Vista new and old WXP. Install available stuff. It is not enough.
B - generally YES. If you need help with this let know us.
C you know what WLAN card is in your laptop. Check Device Manager under Vista.

5 I didn't noticed any difference. Toshiba installs Windows XP Home edition for years and has good experience with this. You can use great Toshiba power saver tool in Windows XP Home edition and optimise energy consumption, cooling method and performance. In Vista, you can do the same.

    Good bye

    > Can someone direct me to a link of support for the implementation in passwords in BIOS?
If you want to set the password in the BIOS you will need to access the BIOS by pressing the F2 key immediately after that the laptop has been powered.

There is a 3rd tab security.
There you can set the BIOS password. You would need to put everything first and then you must confirm the password once more to

This s the password of BIOS nonsense has nothing to do with the reorganization of face.

I have a HPdv6 3250us notebook computer with Windows 7 and I just read http://h20331.www2.hp.com/hpsub/downloads/Face_Recognition-_Tech_Spotlight.pdf on software for facial recognition, which can be used to connect to Web sites instead of a password. Your HP dv6-3250us doesn't have / are delivered with a facial recognition software installed.

  • Face recognition software is not working properly

    Hello & help

Just bought my wife the Tosh Satellite C660D. She wants to use facial recognition software, but the stupid camera will not recognize her beautiful face, it will also not recognize my ugly face.
Any ideas or comments would be appreciated.

The typical problem of s for this software.

I tested several times and realized that in most cases it works well, but often, when the background light is not very good, or you're not in the right position, it will not recognize the owner of the laptop.
What you can do is to test and test again.

In any case, my advice to you is to use a standard connection with password.

  • How to use face recognition tool?

I bought a new Toshiba notebook, getting on ok with it.
Anyone is able to help me with my question is this, to use face recognition how I do it.

What I need to download something? I got the impression that he was already implemented.

All this is very simple. You want to protect your laptop with the face recognition tool. So it may happen that for some reason your face will be not recognized correctly but your laptop must always be protected.

In this case, you can enter Vista using password. This password must be initially created for your ACCOUNT of USER of VISTA. Later when you create account in face recognition tool this password must be the same. On this way the software makes control and compares password on behalf of law.

Can you imagine what will happen if a friend you create an account in the recognition of faces, and you don't know anything about. How you will be able to enter again in Vista?

So with this mechanism of self-control all kinds of misconduct will be prevented successfully.

    Get you it now? ;)

  • Satellite A100 is locked because of the fingerprint BIOS & user password

    Hi all

I have my A100 to my work, recognition of the TouchChip fingerprint a year ago. On initial installation, I recorded my fingerprint of the windows interface.
Six months ago I had to reinstall windows XP due to infection by the virus that is not repairable. I have installed Windows XP Home edition and downloaded all the drivers and additional software from Toshiba's site.

I him didn't record again my fingerprints, and I have NOT activated the TouchChip software this time. My problem was only an annoying message at the time the sign that said «you have not saved your fingerprint again...» "and that's it.
After a 2 week out of town trip (My A100 was locked in my office, and powered OFF - no connection to the sector) at first start, software TouchChip is back from the dead!

Screen 'TouchChip Bios Extension' appeared after plugging, and my finger is required to load WXP!
When connecting user WXP dialogue the additional message "you have not saved your fingerprint again... is always here, but I cannot start the machine without my fingerprint." After some digging later in PowerProtector (?) I found an option that says 'enable or disable the use of fingerprints for system and user password BIOS' or something like that.

I turn this off, and the machine asked to reboot. It was the last time I saw the office.
After reboot, the system asks password. BUT I DID NOT PUT ANY SYSTEM OR USER PASSWORD!
    Is this possible?
    I did something wrong?
    What is the solution?
I'm locked out; I don't know why and how the BIOS is locked with a password (so I can't unlock it).
    Please someone help.

    Best regards, Georgios

I don't know what exactly A100 computer laptop you have, but it seems that the laptop came with the Vista operating system preinstalled.

You have installed XP and drivers XP only from the Toshiba page.
But from my understanding, the BIOS should be updated too! The Satellite A100 series supports a special XP BIOS version. If the BIOS was not updated the laptop might not run correctly.

I don't know if it could have a negative influence on the fingerprint, but nothing is impossible!
However, the fact is that the BIOS asks for the password. If you don't know this, you need to remove the other... and this can be done by a service provider authorized in your country.

Request assistance from technicians and explain the whole story! Maybe they will remove the password for free!

    Bye and good luck

  • Facial recognition on Qosmio x 300 may not register well as audit success

    Hello

Just got my computer laptop-Qosmx300-13W. Had problems with the fingerprint reader in that it would not even go. Uninstalled and installed the latest version of Toshiba download page... s everything works now.

The problem now is with facial recognition. I can access the registry page, register successfully and the face is successfully verified. a new form appears. It has my username (but not name, said only: '-') and my computer name. Initially, there are two additional fields, "Password" and "Confirm password". The confirmation password field appears for a split second, then disappears. So, you can enter a password, but not a password for confirmation.

The OK button has a blue box around it. Using the software as it was of the recovery partition, when I click on 'ok' it gives me an error indicating that the confirmation password is not correct. I tried the update of the drivers\software from the download from Toshiba site today but I still see the same behavior that only now is worse in the sense that when I click on 'ok' as opposed to a message telling me the password is incorrect, I get on a string error access violation. More information can be provided if required please do not hesitate to ask.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Experience of Toshiba's not going too well I'm afraid: two s has neither worked on the box... then again it is common with most businesses so hope still it can be solved.

Thanks in advance (ps. I prefer to be contacted by email, [email protected] if it appeal to you can moderators let this address here, I understand that leaving the addresses may lead to get spam in my Inbox, that's a risk I'm willing to take. (Thank you).

Here's an update for someone else who could have this problem.

Seems the facial recognition is in conflict with the extra finger print scanner another question... it seems that facial recognition does not work when my user account is a single administrator account...

After posting my initial post, I went and created a test account. I then tried the registration process for the admin account and all crossed only instead of passwords requested that my fingerprints (I have the fingerprint reader enabled). Once who has been entered, everything is ok. However at the time wherever I deleted the test registration face recognition account began to play up again. That said the account that has already been registered works very well.

My advice to anyone else in this situation is to create a test windows account. Try to record again. If successful removal of the test account and you're done.

  • Recognition of fingerprints TSQL

We have a Tecra M5 with software running (TSQL) fingerprint recognition. This is setup on our area and connects using the manual password or fingerprint scan. However, when you try and log off the machine or shut down, you get a message that TSQL fails and a Windows dialog box "End now". If you select 'End now' again, sometimes it fails to stop the program and may take several attempts, often resulting it takes several minutes to close the PC, which is very frustrating. The number of TSQL software version is 5.4.0 build 2688, I can't find any reference to this day on the Toshiba web site.

    Hello

It's really not easy to say what is happening here. I have no possibility to test it on a field, but I have tested this tool in only two cases: login to the OS and login on a web page (checking emails). I really don? t know if Toshiba tested it with all possible situations or in your case can be certain? specific? problem.

This error message occurs just when you want to disconnect the domain, or in other situations too?

If you can't find any update on the download page, I assume that Toshiba didn't? t find functionality problems at all. Perhaps something will be in short time.

    Hello

The password (keyboard input) is the backup solution when you can not log of face recognition using the webcam.

If you use the recoganization to face for the first time that the practice is very useful.
First of all, you will be asked to move your neck slightly to the left and to the right.
Then, you will be asked to move your neck slightly up and down.
After that, you can click once more to practice or click to start the capture an image.

First adjust the position of your face so that it fits in the face in the form of framework
(back-button will be inactive at the moment.

Once your face has been correctly positioned, the recording will start. See the red dot for recording in the upper left.
Start moving your neck very slightly to the left and to the right as the guide, it shows to you. Now your neck up and down. You need to repeat the movement of your neck left and right and up and down several times... Just look at the guide...

Registration to complete, after having repeatedly moved your neck left, right, up and down. Click the button for the test of authentication.
    There are two possible outcomes:

-If the authentication (or updated) fails, click on and register again
-If the authentication or updated is successful, click on and create an account

Choose your Windows user name, the full name, the destination of Login, password
And re-enter the password fields and then click.
Return to the management screen. The registered account name will be displayed. Clicking on it will cause the image of your face to be displayed to the left. Click close to close the software (.. and come back at the beginning of the presentation...)

To update your profile of face recognition choose and highlite your username
    and click on update.
To update your registration with practitioner just click Next and the guide will start.
If you choose to ignore the recognition will start without practicing.

Check these steps and your face recogonisation should work fine
