Recovery CD does not retrieve Satellite C660-1WN

I ordered a set of 2 CD from Toshiba Recovery and they received yesterday in order to correct this laptop Windows depression...

The problem at the beginning upward is that Windows 7 is not implemented, more that does not show the drive in the BIOS (the fact DVD player) and after the boot sequence the following message appears: Reboot and select proper boot device or insert media root in the selected boot device someone suggested the drive is broken or the cables to the same loose or lose.

The owner said, that the error appeared after McAfee offered to "remove 15 errors found on the disk." The laptop has never been opened.

What recovery CD 1 the sequence start starts the recovery but initially shows two pop-ups that indicate that the hard drive is not found.

First error message - ERROR: IOCTL_DISK_GET_LENGTH_INFO. \PHYSICALDRIVE0 the device is not ready.

Second error message says something like - there is no access on disk 0 # or the RAID configuration is not correct!

After agreeing two messages, the guest turns the error that appears also in this thread...

I fooled with the tips in this thread...

Verify the information of partition, the partition for the the DVD (volume 1) is active and mounted and - apparently - the hard disk (volume 0) shows that there is no label, where Fs holds no information Type is listed as removable, size is 0 bytes and status without media.

I then tried to assign the letter F on the hard drive which has not had a letter attributed to himself and who has been reported as a success, but after another reboot and trying to run the recovery cd, even for the first method distributed everywhere with the drive not showing...

If I understand your posting right, THAT HDD is troublemaker, so I think you should get it again or another HARD drive, set the BIOS to the default settings and try reinstalling the recovery image.

If possible, do this and post the results.

    Hi dimation,

It is difficult to say what is the reason of this but made is either it s a laptop problem itself or the recovery disc (e.g. scratches) causes this problem.

In my opinion the best way to check this using a Microsoft Windows disk. If the installation completed successfully, you need a new recovery disk. As a result, you can ask a service provider authorized in your country! :)

Well - here I answer to my own problem in case someone else has the same problem.  The second disk files recovery finally finished loading after 20 hours of waiting!  I spoke to two different technicians to support HP on the phone and neither one of them told me that it could take a long time to load the files!  One of them had me arrested and again after about 40 minutes of waiting.  I found it totally by accident after having frustrated and leaving it just stay there all night. Amazing!  The rest of the restore procedure went well after that - I think.  I'm always load all other software, files and updates, 2 days later.  The hard drive on this dog only lasted a year.

    Help, please!

    Hello

Assuming that it's just a problem with the recovery media, here's another solution, you can try.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( this must be the version exact same origin supplied with your laptop ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

You need to start using the CD - no existing OS - and install it to clean.

  • the system recovery media does not support this computer

I have a HP G7-1365DX and the hard drive (750 GB) is a failure.  I did a recovery file on a USB key from the recovery partition and then replaced the hard drive with a 120 GB SSD.  When I tried to reinstall the USB system, I get the message "the system recovery media does not support this computer."  Is it because the hard drive was replaced by a SSD?  How to restore the system if the recovery disk does not work?

    Hello

You are right about the source of this problem - HP recovery media often has problems of restoring the operating system on a smaller disk in quality than appeared on.

There are a few options available.

    1. if the 750 GB drive is still able to operate, use your recovery media to perform a factory reset and then use software (or Windows 7 own imaging utility) for this clone of your SSD.

2 create your own recovery media to use to run the installation - it would be my personal preference.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

I have load to start computer press F12, and it starts on the DVD. It says "Loading RAMDISK Image", after which I am told by Toshiba customer service there should be options to clean up the hard drive or restore Windows XP.

    Thank you.

    Hello

The recovery procedure is not difficult.
Just try to boot from the recovery CD or DVD and follow the Guide on the screen line.

Your problem is very strange. You have created all the partitions on the HARD drive?
I put really t know why your recovery CD doesn't work properly, but I think you should try to completely format the disk (also partitions), then try to boot from the recovery CD.

Don't forget that the laptop is in the boot mode. (don t mix the standby or hibernation mode)

  • Recovery disks does not not for the Satellite L350

    I have a Toshiba Satellite L350, I bought a few years ago

Originally it was a laptop Vista Home premium and I opted for the Toshiba windows 7 upgrade and its been pretty much without problem.

But recently something went a bit weird and things were not only works well (he would not always disconnect you and never seemed to stop correctly) and various other applications does not work properly.

After a few uninstalls, reinstall, scans and patches from Microsoft has done nothing that I decided to take the plunge and use the recovery disc.

I bought a Toshiba when I am the machine initially and had made one myself, before you upgrade windows 7 and a new after.
I still have the windows 7 upgrade DVD so I can apply after if I had to start back on vista.

The only other big change has had an upgrade of RAM 4 GB - I still the original of the RAM, if I need it, but before that there is no hardware problem not reported and chkdsk was also very good.
So for me it was the o/s that was the problem.

I tried now all recovery discs and they all have the same problem of reports that imagex cannot decompress the second frame of the file because it is corrupted to block 90 I n t have this real message at your fingertips
    but can be updated later.

I can t see that I m something wrong, like everything I do is to put the dvd in the drive and reboot the laptop with the F12 key to boot from the recovery DVD and follow the screen controls on.
You use reports from such that previously or I am doing something stupid?

    Thank you

It's very strange that al recovery discs show the same error message. As far as I know when you start recovery image installation that the HARD drive will be formatted, new partitions created, recovery image copied to the second partition of HARD drive and as the last step is the installation of recovery image.
    > I bought a Toshiba when I am the machine initially and had made one myself before the upgrade to windows 7...
Have you tested the two of them in the past?

In General, all you do is right. In my opinion, the problem may be recovery image itself or perhaps HDD has some defect in certain areas.
If you can get the second HARD drive somewhere Exchange it, value default BIOS settings and test the installation of recovery again.

Hmm... for me, it seems that the laptop does not start from the disc (DVD), but it attempts to boot from the HARD drive...

In any case, have you tried to boot from another disk; for example, Win XP, Linux Live CD?
To do this, and check if it is possible... If Yes, format the HARD drive and try to boot from the recovery again disc!
