Recovery disk vs System Image disc

What is the difference between a disc 'Image of the system' and a set of recovery discs?

Hello

Recovery disks will return the exact conditions, he was at the time of purchase - IE you will have to apply all the updates of Windows, install the programs and files personnel etc. of your machine.

An image of the system will return the machine to the exact conditions, he was at the time the Image was created.

Kind regards

    Hi mate,

The Toshiba recovery disc creator can create the Toshiba Recovery disk and that s all!

If you want to burn the other CD or DVD, you can use other software such as Nero or CD Burner XP. The last one is a free and really nice. It has many functions and is very low. Check it!

Perform a hard disk on a disk image backup external drive using Macrium reflect free, not the trial version, for best results.

Hello, my hard drive gave me a couple of days, and I was wondering if I put a new drive hard non-toshiba in my satellite pro L10 would work the recovery disc again correctly or it will have to be the exact same hard drive that the laptop came with?

    Thank you

    Hello

If the BIOS will recognize the new HARD drive, I see no reason why the recovery CD should not be run
But before you start the installation from the recovery CD, you need to format the HARD drive. You can use the original Windows XP CD for formatting the HARD drive!

Unfortunately, I have to disappoint you. It is not possible.

You can order the new silver recovery disk:

  • The recovery disk is sensitive to the size of the hard drive?

    Hello

I just bought my new laptop Satellite.

I have owned one of these puppies before and so I know that the Toshiba recovery disc is a ghost image.

What I did is erased the hard drive clean because it's a piece of the circuit city showroom and t couldn't trust what was out there.

I put Ubuntu on the laptop. I want to put Vista on a VM.

As you can imagine, the virtual machine would have much less space than the actual size of the hard drive (200 GB) but of course, large enough to accommodate the installation of vista and all the goodies of Toshiba.

With this all said, the image will be cough, hanging and allows me not to install during installation of the ghost due to the different size image in space? So say the laptops hard drive space, it is 200 GB, but I only allocated 50 GB virtual hard disk.

Now I don't have a version of the class my program of schools Microsoft vista legitimate business, but I would use the home premium came with the laptop and use that Toshiba had provided me.

Then, going to work, or it will not?

    Thank you for your comments.

    > I wonder what the disc labeled "Toshiba recovery disk' which is come with my new laptop that I just bought actually is then.
Don t confuse boyfriend new Toshiba with Vista OS notebooks are equipped with HARD drive recovery option. But it also contains an option to create a recovery DVD in case the HARD disk will fail.

If you buy an old series laptop with Win XP, then it might be possible that you don t have the option to drive HARD recovery, but instead, you've got a recovery disk.

As you said above; the recovery disk contains an image (I doubt it s a ghost still image) that contains an operating system Windows, Toshiba drivers, tools and additional software.

    Good bye

  • Satellite l.660-12 q - would the recovery disk rebuild the new HARD disk with a new recovery partition

Talk about confusion. Does anyone know how to get a Toshiba C660 work after the HARD drive failed and the owner has stupidly NOT followed the instructions to make a recovery disk. Will be the recovery disk (if buy you one from Toshiba) rebuild the new HARD disk with a new recovery partition and install windows 7 (original OS) and accept the product key printed on the Windows license, attached to the base of the laptop. I have read a number of suggestions, but these have been considered incorrect by others.

Surely, Toshiba must have a way to sort this problem.

    They read these messages?

    Hey Buddy

I don't think it's really complicated, that I could find all the information about the recovery procedure in the user's manual

The recovery disk must be created on the first day of purchase its recommended to create one in case something would be wrong with the HARD drive.

The recovery disk contains an image. The image is a package containing Win system, drivers, tools and all the stuff pre-installed on the notebook.
You bought the laptop and the system has already been activated so that you have need of t the key placed at the bottom of the unit.
In addition, the use of the recovery disc formats the drive HARD integer (partitions too) and set the laptop in the same condition as at the first day of the purchase.

There is also another option to recover the notebook called HARD drive recovery. This HARD drive recovery requires no recovery disk. The recovery disc HARD would be to use format ONLY partition C (System).

  • How to restore the Satellite L25 - where to get the recovery disk

    Hello..

I tried to format my hard drive on my laptop L25, which currently has Win XP, but don't know that if I ever had a CD/DVD of recovery of the person I bought it from.

Does anyone know if this laptop (L25-s1192) contains a picture of the recovery diskette or if I can get a drive recovery somewhere or any other way to format the drive and reinstall the original content of the laptop?

Would appreciate if you could answer.
    Thank you... Amare

    Hello

Usually, the old series from Toshiba was equipped with the recovery disk and the image of Toshiba on the recovery cd.
If you have a recovery disc, then you will have to boot from that disk to start the recovery procedure.

If you don t have a recovery disk, then you can use a clean Microsoft Windows XP CD to reinstall the operating system and the necessary drivers can be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page we.
It is a portable American and you need to find US page for drivers.

  • Problem of generation of a System Image in Windows 7 on several DVD + R using a new laptop ASUS UL50

I'm trying to follow the instructions on the screen to generate backups in case of system crash.

The recovery disk was created without a hitch.  I inserted a blank DVD + R disc according to the instructions and the process is completed without error.

I tried to create a System Image disc.  In the Panel, I selected "backup and recovery".

In the pop up box that results, in the left menu, I selected the option 'create the system image.

A new popup box appeared asking me to select the media - and included the option of one or more CD or DVD.  There is the option that I selected.

I was given a text string to write to the DVD (the computer name, date/time of the image and the number one probably represent the first of several discs).

The process began by saying that it was creating the image and then he began to copy the disc.  At some point, a new popup box appeared with a message indicating that the media were too small and please insert a disc with a capacity greater than 1 GB (this is a DVD + R with a capacity of 4.7 GB).  Once again, he printed a string to write to the disk and used the same disc number (disc number 1).  This makes me think that the system has _nothing_ with the original disc.

In addition, the popup box prompted me to "insert a new disc", but it wouldn't let me eject the disc currently in the drive.  The backup software would not prevent the drive from spinning.

When I tried the entire backup, it would not be "Cancel".  I even went into the Task Manager to try to quit smoking.  The Task Manager indicates that the process "failed" but would not leave and the DVD player would not stop turning.

I finally did a hard shutdown of the laptop.

Afraid that suggests that the DVD player have been defective, I rebooted the machine, put a DVD image into the machine, and he opened it, saw my fine started and stopped etc., photos.

I then repeated the procedure above with a new blank DVD to try to generate a new Image system and the machine performed _exactly_ the same way.

Also.  A similar question was asked in this forum on November 2, but the response of a moderator of Answers MS did not actually the question.  Response from the moderator simply directed the questioner to a set of instructions on how to generate a backup of _complete_ (where you can either authorize MS select automatically which files are backed up or you can select specific subdirectories etc..)  NOTE: I tried this process as well, but it does not generate a backup on DVD.  According to the tutorials, my only options by using the backup scheduler to create a system image are: a separate disk partition or separate hard drive inside (or outside).  It won't let me create an image of 'system' to a _Bi) DVD using the backup scheduler.

    Hi TLÉ,.

I want only after saving you to perform the above given the procedure, the registry. Lets give it a try and see if that helps. If this does not help solve the problem, attentio try another alternative, or probably a forum user with a similar question and fix post it here with the resolution.

    Keep your fingers crossed!

  • Re: Satellite A300-1MO - can I use any Toshiba Recovery disk?

    I have an A300-1 MB.
Can I use any Toshiba Recovery disk?
Or is it as a specific for my A300-1 MB?

    I'm like a total noob...
    Someone pls help...!

No, you cannot use any recovery disk, you must use the recovery disc designed for this model of laptop.
The point is that recovery disk contains an image. The image is a package that contains the OS and Toshiba drivers
If you want to use another recovery disc then the image would be installed with no compatible drivers and this could lead to other problems

Every new notebook from Toshiba offers a Toshiba Recovery disk creator tool. This tool can create a recovery disk

  • BT question perhaps in connection with the recovery disk

I formatted my A100 without using the second recovery disk. System seems stable, but I can't use BT, I tried to install the monitor BT, BT Stack, pilots, but still can not.
    Someone knows something about it?

    Hello

If your laptop is BT on board all the necessary software is included in the recovery image.
All you need to do is put the WLAN switch on IT (the WLAN led will be ON) and the combination of keys after you have made this BT activate using FN + F8.

The BT hardware installation should begin. Just follow the menu on the screen and complete the BT installation. When finished, you will be able to use BT. in the future please make sure that the BT is enabled with the FN + F8 key combination.

  • Create a system repair disc?

    Hello:

    RE: HP Pavilion DV-7-4270us Windows 7 64-bit

Recently, I replaced an internal hard drive on the pc that is referenced above. I have re-installed the drivers and software I want.

My next step would be to create a System Image disc?

(I created a restore of the system or the rescue disks while the computer is new, but it would not be installed on the new hard drive, so I'm cautious in doing that, once again, because it wasn't before).

    Thank you

    Hello:

Yes, I use Windows 7 backup tool and do a system image and a system of disc repair, so you can access the system image.

I recommend that you use a portable hard drive, and then you can boot from this CD to repair windows for you, select restore backup image option and have your portable hard drive connected when you are recovering.

Windows will look for the image on your drive hard laptop usb and restore.

You can keep the image for the new installation, that you just did, or you can keep up to date and create a new image whenever you want.

Just know that Windows will overwrite any previous system image, you created on this portable hard drive for the PC.
