  • Newly installed hard drive, cannot get the reinstallation of Windows 7 to the end

Hi all. My factory-issued Seagate 1 TB hard drive of origin provided with my PC Pavilion Elite HPE-240f failed a few months ago and I finally had time to fixation (rock a Pavilion dm4 laptop in the meantime, I'm not in a huge rush). I replaced it tonight with a Western Digital Blue 1 TB hard drive, which I know is Advanced Format.

I love HP platform minor changes in the the Windows 7 OS, I went ahead and tried to reinstall the OS of my recovery disks that I made when I got this PC. I checked the BIOS settings and the new hard drive WD IS recognized, the size is correct, etc. It has been configured in RAID with the SATA controller, and I tried to put out when the installation of the operating system initially lacked AHCI. It seems to be stuck in some kind of loop in the final configuration step, and I get out of the dialog box "Installation of Windows set up Windows to run on a hardware on this computer" could not. Hit Okay sends in reboot and after that I get a "Windows is unable to complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation"notice.

It makes me batty, and I really want my back office. This is a great machine, and as much as I love my laptop, it can't handle heavy programs like Photoshop or my multitasking fool. I managed to get the OS installed by forcing the system to bypass its system predefined through registry commands, but the important things were wrong, as Windows Update does not work, so I'll try to reset all with only recovery disks. So far, no go. I am extremely tired, frustrated, and it's late, so apologies for what I've left out or of typos. Any help on how to solve this problem is GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you very much for your response, @MechPilot. I actually found what I thought, it's perhaps the question a day or two before your answer: my computer was manufactured and purchased just before October 2010, which has been cut for restoration placed disks shaped for the drives non - Advanced Format. All the following which has been reformatted accordingly. I contacted HP and bought the replacement of the recovery discs (made in 2012), that I received yesterday. After several hours of nerves and finger-crossing, it worked like a charm. The operating system has successfully recovered, and I couldn't be happier!

I answer computer said of office right now, in fact! Thanks again.

  • cannot get the keyboard to select windows xp when I have only four seconds to select is stuck on windows xp professional and cannot get the keyboard to use arrows to select

A few old machines will not recognize a USB keyboard/mouse until after Windows starts.  Look at the back of your computer and see if you have a PS/2 (round) connector for a keyboard and a mouse.  If you do, then you will need to use a keyboard with a round PS/2 connector or a USB-to-PS/2 adapter and plug the PS/2 connector on the back of your computer so that it recognizes the keyboard until Windows starts on your keyboard.

The SATA driver applies to your hard drive.  A CD of start-up/installation of Windows XP does not recognize a SATA hard drive.  If you install Windows, you will need to hit F6 at the right time and insert a floppy with the SATA driver on this subject.

  • Cannot send mail with windows mail. Get the pop-up Windows security.

Cannot send mail with Windows Mail. Get the pop-up Windows security.

Password and username are all correct. POP and SMTP everything is correct. If I remove all virus blocker, always get Windows security pop up asking for password and username; I type in it and click on the option to remember, but the window appears several times without sending a message. Error message box is empty.
No problem on the end of e-mail servers. Equipped with Windows Vista.
I deleted the Windows Mail disabled account, rebooted with the new account and the same problem.
Can I receive the mail, but Windows Security blocking my attempts to send and don't remember the password and username that I type.
    Help!

This kind of behavior is very often due to antivirus.  You are using.  If its McAfee or Norton get rid of them completely.   There are others who are also incompatible.  Everything you try, make sure that the analysis of e-mail is disabled.   You can also try to repair the database and see if that helps (see www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/).  And see also www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

  • Windows 2008 R2 as a guest cannot get the IP address of the server (VMware workstation 7.1.3 on Windows 7) professional

    Hi gurus,

I installed VMware workstation 7.1.3 on my Windows 7 laptop professional x64bit and I can run my old VM (XP) without any problems in this regard. And I tried to install a new client (Windows 2008 R2 Standard x 64) on this subject, when I put the NETWORK card in the deck, he cannot get the IP address from my DHCP, always show me error "Windows has detected an IP address conflict...". ", I tried the IP static installation for her also, same result.

I tried to install a new windows Server 2003 as a guest (also defined as a network bridge), it works very well, can get the IP address from my DHCP or can set a static IP address with no problems. Does anyone have a similar experience on this combination? Any solution to this issue?

    Best regards

    BUGBUG

I recently managed to get bridge network work with a Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 guest in VMW Workstation 7.1.4.385536 on a host Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate.

VirtualBox 4.0.4.70112 is installed on the host and disabling the 'VMware Bridge Protocol' in the 'VirtualBox in Ethernet Adapter"on the host was necessary.

Outpost Firewall Pro 7.1.0.3415.520.1247 is also installed on the host computer and I used some information from the link below to add some necessary firewall rules.

    Hi imoffshore,

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

We would like to get some more information from you to help solve your problem. You better, please answer the following questions.

    ·         When was the last time it worked?

    ·         Remember to make changes to the computer recently?

    ·         You have security software installed on the computer?

    ·         You get the error message?

When you open the tab automatic updates in the control panel or My Computer property sheet, all options of configuration of the automatic updates may be grayed out. This happens due to one of the following reasons:

    1. You are not logged as administrator (or equivalent)
    2. Strategy of automatic updates is enabled
    3. Automatic updates (and Windows Update) access is blocked by group policy

The options available for automatic updates.

You must make some changes in the windows registry.

Important: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • Cannot get the file to be imported.

I tried the method of JoseIbarra - I did as suggested but cannot get the file to be imported in the services file. He never asked me if I wanted to add the information in the registry, so it is still on the office. Don't know what to do from here.

(Even once - keep the * first conversation * going.)  Written on it.  Show how this conversation continues spreading around.)

BTW - my suggestion has not changed.  I still think that you get just around issues that still exist, probably, by fixing the little things you need at a given time.

Backup important files/folders (for you) (including documents, photos, music, Favorites, Internet favorites, files installable application, serial numbers, product keys, spreadsheets, you saved to the desktop email, etc.) and wipe the disc completely - I'd even a zero writing on the disc (formatting) before installing the operating system from the original installation media.  Then install your applications and restore your files.

As to what they were asked to do... Always seems that you saved the file as a *. TXT file and not a *. REG or there is much more wrong with your machine (see my suggestion above.)

Visit this web page to look at the photo on the left (a first) to see the screenshot of the possible is the desktop icons and let us know if it looks like the left or right of each photo version (answer here or in the longer conversation.)  * Ignore the first part of the file name - as you might have named something else than "addspooler."

To check if you saved incorrectly or if there is something wrong with your system (or two) - right click on the file you saved and choose 'Properties' from the menu you get.  Under the 'Général' tab, she said, "file Type: registration entries (.reg)" and "opens with: Registry Editor" or something similar?  Visit this web page to look at the picture on the right (second) to see the screenshot of the possible look at the windows of the property and let us know if it looks like the left or right of each photo version (answer here or in the longer conversation.)  * Ignore the first part of the file name - as you might have named something else than "addspooler."

Thanks for posting the question in the Microsoft Community forums.

According to the description, you get a message of error 'mmc cannot open the file C:\windows\system32\WF.msc' when you try to open the center of the Action.

We will perform the steps and check.

    Method 1:

Try to access the Windows Firewall configuration through the console Microsoft Management console.

    a. click on start
    b. type MMC (right-click and choose Run as administrator)
    c. click on file (in the upper right corner)
    d. click Add/Remove snap-in software component
    e. Select Windows Firewall with advanced settings, in Add Remove snap-ins windows
    f. click Add (clicking ok does not make any changes)
    d. click OK and you should be able to use the settings of the Console 1 window.

    Method 2:

If you are able to use the settings of the firewall through MMC, then scan your computer for corrupt system files.
