Reduce shared VGA memory

Hi, I use a computer laptop hp pavilion DV4 series and it has 512 MB of dedicated memory and more than 1 GB is shared for the vga, I need to reduce this shared memory, I tried to use BIOS, but this option isn't here, it has windows 7 Home premium. Can anyone help me to reduce the VGA memory. ???

You can not and really don't need to change. It's not old time shared memory where he grabs system RAM and makes it unavailable for Windows. The graphics engine will not the (Windows) system memory if the dedicated memory is full (not likely to happen with 512 MB of memory) and even then it only temporarily he catches a little as a swap file. If you cannot use all the memory you have with Windows it happens something else. For example if you have 4 gigs installed and Windows tells you that you have 3, it is not the video but a limitation inherent in a 32 bit OS. You will need to install an OS to use greater than about 3.25 GB 64-bit memory.

  • How to adjust shared video memory - R10/R600 teacher of Win7 32-bit size

    Hello

I use two laptops in the business - R600 and R10. Both with Intel 4500 graphics card and shared video memory. Both win Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. In both cases the system of reserve 1 159 MB of video memory. As I do not play no matter what games, I don't need to lose an enormous amount of memory - I want to release as much as possible for the system and programs.

For the purposes of the trial, I installed Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Surprisingly, it holds only 199MB of video memory - it looks like the issue of the BONE.

Anyone know how I can reduce the size of the video memory under Windows 7 32 bit?

    Kind regards

    PAB 567

As far as I know, this can be done manually and shared memory is controlled by the system.

If you n t use it for games I n t see any problem here. I put t know what kind of activity you do with your laptop, but I can't imagine there is not enough memory to each day's activities.

Is it not enough power for some operations or what?

    Hello.

Yesterday, I bought a Toshiba L300-21W. It's a very nice phone, but I have 1 problem with it. I am using windows 7 ultimate x 64 and I'm very pleased with him.

The problem is that my video memory is low (128 MB). This laptop has a shared Intel GMA 4500 M video. How can I increase the size of the video memory? I can't find anything in the user manuals. I have the latest version of the driver for him... and I can't find where to increase its memory.

    Could you help me please?

    Thank you guys.

When the laptop has shared graphics memory card, that means the RAM will be used for graphic operations (borrowing of memory of RAM your system of graphics chip).
With RAM more available (upgrade of RAM), more memory will be available for graphics operations.

  • Shared Variable memory leak

    Hi all

I have an urgent matter with sporadic memory leaks in shared variables.

Occasionally, reading and writing to the variables shared a memory leak. The rate can be increased by turning on "Flush static Variables' disabled in the code,

I was not able to reproduce with variables shared on the localhost variables however shared running on a target RT PXI seem to cause this problem.

It is as if something breaks sometimes and causing memory leaks. Perhaps a matter of concurrency of thread/pointer?

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Start the MemoryLeak.vi and sometimes it does, other times it does not leak memory slowly.
    2. Select the "Flush the shared Variable" vi behind disable schema structure
    3. Watch the memory usage go amok after the restart of the MemoryLeak.vi
    4. Disable the "Flush shared Variable' behind the structure diagram disable
    5. Restart the MemoryLeak.vi and memory leak continues at different speeds depending on how it breaks.
    6. Will cause a memory leak whenever I run the vi, reboot only LV will put it in somewhat nonleaking condition.

    System information:

    • Latest & most f0 LV2012 32-bit SP1 on client and target systems fully implemented at level
    • Client computer Lenovo Thinkpad W530 Win7 Professional 64-bit
    • SMU-8135 controller on an SMU-1078 performer LVRT 12.0.1 cassis

Help here to an AE or R & D would be nice that I can't solve this problem on my own.

  • I wonder if more shared video memory will make my game to live better.

allright, I have a Core 2 Duo 2 ghz cpu, 3 GB of RAM DDR2, an Intel GMA 4500MHD (128 MB dedicated video memory) and 1.2 GB of video memory shared (you know, the kind that comes out of your total RAM and is SLOW). I play games (halo 2, call of duty), and I was wondering if the allowance, say 1.5 GB instead of 1.2 GB video memory shared could make a difference at all in my current games, or allow me to play more than memory video intensive games. Please answer if you know the answer to the question. If you don't know the answer, don't answer. Thank you for your time.

Intel has a good web page describing the shared video memory http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-029090.htm.  According to this page, the video card uses automatically more memory as needed until the maximum authorized.

  • Prefetch files deleted and my primary transmission reduced 4 GB memory

    Original title: prefetch files

just delete the prefetch files and my primary transmission reduced 4 GB memory. Why?

    1. There is no advantage to deleting files in C:\Windows\Prefetch.  This will result in a temporary increase in startup and loading time of your computer program, but the files will be rebuilt.

    2. it is difficult to say what might have caused a reduction in the available disk space.  My guess is that you have some third-party backup utility running.  To study, download and run TreeSize Free.  Be sure to run 'as administrator' in order to get an accurate view of what takes up space on your hard drive.  http://www.Jam-software.com/treesize_free/

Sounds like you downgraded to Windows 7 32 bit.

Check if you run that. 32-bit Windows 7 can only recognize this amount:

  • problems with dedicated and shared graphics memory

So basically I want to run a game that I have all the specs (above actually) that I need to play outside of memory dedicated to the graphics card. But what confuses the life out of me, is that I have about double the necessary memory required in system memory shared which as I understand, it is used on an as-needed-basis. However, clearly this is not the case, as soon as I try and run it crashes immediately.

Okay, so I have the graphics card with the following specifications:

chip type: mobile intel (R) 4 series express chipsets
channel of the card: mobile Intel GMA 4500 M
    total memory: 797 MB
    memory: 64 MB dedicated
    shared system memory: 733 mb

In addition to what BossDweebe wrote, I would like to comment on your comment

"I more than double the necessary memory required in system memory shared which as I understand, it is used on an as-needed-basis." However, clearly This is not the case, as soon as I try and run it crashes immediately. »

Shared memory (part of your system RAM) is provided by Windows on a dynamic basis, it is added if required and with a limited amount by the RAM of the system itself needs to run applications (= your shared graphics memory size can be based on available RAM total). It's a help for some graphical features, but not necessarily a guarantee to run games that explicitly requires a certain base of dedicated RAM video. As the dedicated RAM (own GPU memory) is much faster than the share of the contributions of RAM, two cases can appear:

    (1) the game does not start. Many games check the video hardware before starting, and if they are 64 MB VRAM and require more, often it is game over. The dynamically allocated shared memory cannot be controlled and is of no interest here.

    (2) other games may be more forgiving. But you're going to be faced with a vicious circle: you're hoping using shared memory, is a clear indicator of a graphic solution already slow and Asthenique (i.e. an integrated graphics card). Unfortunately, the slow system RAM does not speed up your graphics card, and taking a part of the RAM for the graphics features: with a slower running your game and can still finish in the dysfunctions.

It is possible that the CPU is too busy and you can try to disable some applications that are running in the background. Trough shared memory processor help map graphic and on this path, graphic representation take place without problems.

    Hello

I have a laptop L30-134 with 512 MB of ram and 64 MB of video memory shared.

I can't change the virtual memory from 64 MB to 128 MB.
I reed some messages in this forum but I have no option in the Panel as "FrameBuffer" and the bios hase no option for the video display adapter, I tried to install the latest ati driver but ich time I get an error is not configuration / compatibil card whit say out.

How I change my card adapter video shared memory size?

    Thank you.
PS: sory for my bad English... :)

    Hello

Using the latest display driver (you can download it at toshiba), then you will have the option of frame buffer memory. The initially installed driver doesn't have this option. You will be able to use the memory of 128 MB for vga. If you put your L30 512 MB, you can use 256 MB of video memory. But I found no differences in the games between 128 MB and 256 MB.

  • Satellite L845D - how to increase shared video memory (AMD APU)

I have a 512 MB to 1 GB, but I have no option in the BIOS. In desktop APU systems, it is possible, since there is an option in the BIOS. Should I kind of updated, unlocked or BIOS 'hacked '?

    Thanks in advance

    BIOS hacked?
Forget buddy... don't even think about BIOS hacks... something like that (if possible) would be detrimental to your unit... certainly...

Shared memory cannot be increased manually... it is controlled by the graphics driver and especially depends on the main memory... in some cases, the shared memory will increase after RAM upgrade...

My question is the same as we can read on this url:

But the solution only works with windows xp, anyone know a driver version with which the 'frame buffer' tab is present?
The latest version of the driver is installed on my Satellite L30-105(catalyst 7.6), 128 MB are shared, but 32 will be enough for me.

    Hello

I think the problem is that Vista graphic driver does not support this option.
The option described in the in the other thread was available in the argument XPOS.

But why would you change? On my L30 128 MB shared memory are activated, but the laptop uses only 64 MB if I put t run all applications performance.
The pilot controls the amount of shared memory automatically.

You can se under control panel-> display-> advanced settings
In the map tab, you can see total graphic memory available (in my case 128 MB) and system memory shared (64 MB)

By the way; I don't think that 32 MB graphics memory may be sufficient if you're running Vista

I bought a L20 today with 256 MB of memory, video is set at 128 MB, can someone tell me how I can reduce this, I tried in the bios but the only option is 128 MB, the laptop is quite slow. I'll have more memory when I can, but for now if I can fix this it should help a little.

    Hello

What the name of your laptop - Satellite L20 - xxx?
And what graphics card did you use? Intel or ATI?

But I do not understand why you want to decrease the memory.
If the graphics card memory so it will take the main memory.
But if the graphics card does not need additional memory so it will not share.
It all depends on the applications that are running on the operating system.
