  Hi, I would not recommend using no real cables on Apple devices because they can cause problems. You get also the question of the products not authorized to appear on the screen which can be very annoying and it is because he has not got the necessary cable chip that its not true.   I don't think there's a way to be sure of that without prior testing.  For Kindle, for example, you need convert their own epub format.  You can see the Kindle forums to see if others have commented on the problems they faced.
