Reformat long xps 400 windows xp 32-bit

I was really hoping someone could give me detailed instructions on how to reformat my xps. I did a short format twice already. The main problem I have is that I have a partition that contains a virus, I suppose because I can't even boot in safe mode. Any way to do along the short storry I want to reformat my entire HD and make sure that I put the values to the dell way showed me. I know that dell has accompanied me through this time and somewere they showed me to reset a digital value for a good clean reformat. A I was wondering are these directions posted elsewhere were? Dell wants more money I can afford right now for the telephony service. I hope someone can help.

Help, please! My XPS 400 system crashed with an error hal.ddl.  Was able to copy my important data on a disk external usb.  Tried to re - install windows XP on the old disk and windows does not recognize the hard drives.  I have two drives a Maxtor 250 GB and a 160 GB Maxtor.  I am able to run the utilities on disks and they spend.  After many trys, I thought since I was my important data on the external usb drive, I would go buy a new HD and start all over again.  I bought a WD 500 GB drive and you guessed it, windows xp couldn't recognize the disc. I use Windows XP service pack 2.  I read that Dell had the F11 recovery tool and I ran with success.  However as I started to load some of my programs on the disk, it seemed super slow and I don't know that I have confidence in it.  What should I do to get Windows XP to recognize my drives on the installer?  FRUSTRATING!

  • Last steps to install an SSD in a XPS 435MT (Windows 7 64-bit)?

I found a very good price on two SSDs - so I bought it, thinking I could install at least one of them in my XPS 435MT. They will arrive today.

I also want to add a Blu - ray (player, at least) Player to this system. (Suggestions)? While seeking advice on this, I came across a forum detailed post making it clear to me that adding SSD to the XPS 435MT system is not so easy.

It's been well over a year since the above post has been updated. Are the steps that are always accurate? Are there any updates? For example, the message includes a link to the Intel Matrix Storage Manager for Microsoft Windows driver; However, the page that indicates that it is valid for the "Intel Server System SR1680MV. Is this still required driver? Is Microsoft difficulty he always required 50470?

I want to preserve my finely tuned Windows 7 environment, if possible. My system currently has two hard drives of 500 GB (C: and D :), a DVD - ROM (g) and a DVD - RW (w). Currently, I have all my Windows libraries on the D: drive. I am considering making it one of the new SSD the C: drive, using Paragon to migrate the content of HARD C: for the SSD drive. There is perhaps not a need for the existing C: HDD after that; Besides, I may even need to remove the HARD drive in order to have a Bay to install the SSD/support. I intend to replace one of the DVD writers with the Blu - ray player.

    All comments are welcome!

UPDATE: I called a crucial technical support informing them that their advisor of SSD is in offline mode. The technician I spoke with knew very well what I'm trying to accomplish. According to him, there is no need to install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager - driver as the native Windows driver should be enough. I'll do an OS migration - so in this case, perhaps, the native Windows driver is not present?

    Chris,

You only need to run 'fix' If your BIOS is currently set to ATA and you will have to change to RAID. If you are already set up to RAID, you will not have this difficulty. However, I would make sure you run the latest version of the Intel RST (this replaces the former matrix storage driver).

I think your plan is fine, except that I would simply connect the SSD to a SATA, not a USB adapter port. Boot from Paragon Disk or flash drive, depending on what you got and run the clone operation.

Most of the people who swap HDDs to SSDS retain their hard drives for data. Keep this in mind for your planning.

I think that most of the problems of performance with SSDS just frankly cloning a Windows installation that is congested or possibly running in ATA mode. That's why I went to the trouble to do a clean install. It's a little more forward work, but now I have an image of the installation with my drivers and applications that I can restore to the DSS at any time in a few minutes.

  • Creates shortcuts to folders via SHIFT-CTRL/Drag-And-Drop is no longer supported in Windows 7 (64 bit)?

In Windows Vista, there are two possibilities to create a shortcut to a folder by drag - move different combinations of keys by drag-and - drop:

'ALT'-key: create a normal shortcut (a double-click on this shortcut navigates to the linked folder)
"SHIFT-CTRL"-key: creates a shortcut file (junction; "." the folder appears as a subfolder of the folder of its container)

In Windows 7, it is only possible to create normal shortcuts. 'SHIFT-CTRL' / drag-and-drop doesn't seem to work in Windows 7. Only, it behaves in the same way as 'ALT' / drag-and-drop.

    My observation is correct?
Is it possible to activate Vista-like behavior in Windows 7 (for example, by editing the registry)?

    A few notes:

Shortcuts to files that have been created previously with Windows Vista are always managed properly in Windows 7 (i.e., they appear as subfolders).

The expected behavior of drag-and-drop works correctly when deleting in the folder "...\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Network shortcuts" (However, creating normal shortcuts via "ALT" - key is not possible in the shortcut 'network' - folder).

Creating a shortcut to folder in "Network shortcut" and then moving in an arbitrary folder shortcut works as expected. Currently, it is the only workaround I know.

Thank you very much for your answer!

  • Calendar task no longer works under Windows 7 64-bit

    Greetings,

Recently, I realized some of my scheduled tasks had ceased to work and have not worked for more than a month. My system changes frequently, because my machine is used for the development, so I regularly uninstallation and installation of various tools, packages, updates, etc...

Therefore the answer to the question, what has changed on your machine recently, several things have changed. Too many to pin-point and exclude.

In services, I try to start the Task Scheduler service and receive this error message:the Task Scheduler in service on Local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs. I see this and it's Ok, all right. Service does not work because it does not need to be. The service is configured to run under the Local System account.

I then try to open the Task Scheduler application (Admin Tools > Task Scheduler) and receive this error immediately at startup until:remote computer was not found. OK, beyond the error and the Task Scheduler interface loads with errors. Status of the task: Reading Data Failed., active tasks: reading data failed.

Right click on the Task Scheduler (Local) node > configuration of Service account error:the following error is reported: the Task Scheduler Service is not running.

Hmmm... service does not start because it is not but Task Scheduler cannot function without the service running. Where should I go from here?

I posted this question in the wrong forum: http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/Offtopic/thread/e1fb1fbe-d561-4d86-aeb2-a6f9efc70293/

    Found the solution:

    Start > run > regedit
    Navigate to HKLM\SOFTWARE\ (Wow6432Node\ on x 64 systems) MICROSOFT\RPC\INTERNET
Export this key to save first, then delete the Internet key (and its subkeys).
    Restart your system
Scheduler tasks and application Task Scheduler service works perfectly after reboot.

  • XPS 400 can not read a disk of 64-Bit Windows 10

I have a XPS 400 desktop computer that currently runs the 32-bit version of the operating system Windows 10 Insider Preview. In control panel - system, it is said that my XPS 400 has a "32-bit operating system, x 64 processor system" but when I put a new Windows 10 64-bit in the CD player and have it start and wait until he asks me to press any button in the BIOS it loads the logo and after a while the CD Player stops just and nothing beyond that happens. In the BIOS I tried to make F12 - boot to SATA drive but when I do try to read and then it just starts as he normally does, ignoring completely the disc. How can I have my XPS 400 read and install 10 64 - bit disk windows? Or y at - it another way, I could have run 10 64-bit Windows?

64 bit versions of windows 8.1 and 10 require more than NX to work. Another question, I found with of MANY older valleys, it's that the area code is not on the DVD. What causes some localized versions of DVD not working but CD XP works because there is no CD region code. In the case of the XPS400 you have need a pentium D 900 series CPU Pressler and the latest version of the bios.  915 to 960 will work as long as you have the copper heat sink. XPS 400/Dimension 9150 does not support the newer processors like the Intel Core 2 duo processor.  There is really no point to the 64-bit version of windows on a XPS 400 due to limitations of the system ram. Commercial versions of windows 8.1 family or Pro come with support 32-bit and 64-bit so this isn't a problem.

Dell Dimension system BIOS A07 see details

    XP051A07. EXE Windows/DOS (514 KB)

The Pressler 900 vs Smithfield 800 series series can do LAHF and SAHF as well as CMPExchange16 which means that it works very well if you have a Pentium 900 series D.  This means that you can run 64-bit windows 7, 8 or 10 very well.  RAM can be used Max will always be 3.25 GB regardless of cpu or os to 64-bit or not.  There is a limit of chipset.   The Precision 380 is better than the XPS400 due to support new chipsets and 8 GB of ram.

I got my 8.1 upgrade pro at the time where it was $ 38.  If they want to they should buy immediately because there won't be any in the future.

WINDOWS 8.0 is depricated and 8.1 framed Purple House and blue box 8.1 pro are available throughout the retail options.

After July 31, 2015 8.x can be gone for always as well be replaced by Windows 10.

Pentium D 915 are very cheap as copper heat sink.  The license of ram and windows are expensive parts.  You update the bios to the last can change the CPU and replace the thermal compound.  The Dual core pentium D is an improvement.

  • Windows Vista (32 bit) stops responding after installing the program...

    Hello.

Recently, my Dell XPS M1530 (Windows Vista 32-bit) has been extinguished during the execution of the system updates (we had a power outage during the night and I didn't) and would only start in safe mode. I moved all my documents on a portable HARD drive and reinstalled the operating system to try to save the computer.

After I did that and reinstalled the drivers (downloaded from the Dell site via my system identification label), I started to load my programs on it (Adobe, Microsoft Office, etc.). After I install a program and exit the installation window, Vista stops responding. I can't click on the Start button (the mouse will go over it, but it does not allow me to select) or one of the other button I have in my toolbar. I can't click anything in the Dock of Dell at the top of my screen, either.

The only way to turn off the computer must press and hold the Power button until the laptop turns off. I HATE doing this, but there is no other way to turn it off once a program has been installed.

Any thoughts on what is happening here? I hope this is just some kind of error on my part - I can't afford to get a new machine. I wanted to upgrade to Windows 7 (my machine can handle), but I don't want the same problem occurs.

Thanks for your help in advance!

    Hello

As you re-installed Windows and the problem persists the rules well enough software. The power
failure should be accompanied by a power surge or other that has caused a problem in the computer.

Makes it sound like there are hardware problems that can probably be repaired. Have you looked at the system
by a real computer store (not the leeks and the glances at a Best Buy or other stores) or Support of Dell.

  • XPS 400 supports Windows 8 install?

    Hello

I have a Dell XPS 400 with a Pentium D 820 Dual Core 2.8 GHz. bought this in 2006 and upgraded to 2 GB of RAM. Is this configuration supports the installation of Windows 8? All the important issues?

It works but it is NOT supported for windows 8.

If your CPU has no option to run disable security for bits in the bios, that it will not be installed.

Not all processors have this feature.

All models of Pentium D seem to have the NX bit.

If the latest version of the bios would be recommended BEFORE the upgrade.

VISTA will have problems before SP2

SP1 is required prior to SP2

Complete installation of SP1 and SP2 is recommended.

I have a few problems and have to reformat my desktop computer. I can't save anything, but I have most of my files and folders transferred to my new laptop. My question is, the Office has a VISTA 64 bit OS and the laptop has a 64-bit WINDOWS 7 OS. Can I use easy transfer to trans iron files & back files of the laptop on the desk.

    Thank you

    PETER

    Hi Peter,.

Windows Easy Transfer generally works from a lower to a higher version of Windows or the same version of windows.

You can try to download the Windows Vista 64 - bit easy transfer and try to transfer the files and folders and check if it works. If it does not from Windows 7 to Vista, then you must manually copy the files and folders using USB drives.
