  -a friend or not - the first thing I would do with it would be to

  You did not say what service pack you have installed, but I guess not SP3. Try to upgrade to SP3 and then try again.

  If you have Service Pack 1 has already been installed on your computer, you can go ahead and install Service pack 3

  Otherwise, you must download and install Service Pack 2.

  0xc004f061 error message occurs when you try to use a license key to activate a newly installed Windows 7 as an upgrade from your previous operating system version; but you don't have the previous version of Windows on your computer. Microsoft retains an option for current users of Windows XP and Vista or Windows 7, upgrade in the latest version of Windows 7. Installation is easy and the product key is distinguished by a new upward together. However, to use the key, you must keep the earlier version of your operating system and the new facility will be placed on the old version. If you do not follow this, you will get this error massage.

  If you format the hard drive before you install the upgrade version, the product key will not work and will require the previous version of your Windows.   Windows registration is optional.  You have no Windows registry to get updates, service packs, etc..  You can skip the registration step when it appears.

  The Windows activation is required.   Since you say that you have activated Windows, you don't have to do anything.
