Reinstall Thunderbird without old imported Messages of OE?

I installed Thunderbird on a test basis. Unfortunately during installation, the program asked if I wanted to import data from another source, I agreed without thinking. Now we have many messages unwanted Outlook Express in the system of Thunderbird.

I would like to delete these messages. I already tried to uninstall and reinstall Thunderbird, but even after the program has been completely uninstalled, when I reinstall, it always seems to reload all the unwanted messages in Outlook Express. Is it possible that I can reinstall Thunderbird in a clean condition (as it would have been if I had not imported the OE messages)? Or, it would be easier to delete all messages and folders from Thunderbird? I reinstall a clean one if possible.

Thanks for any help you can offer with this question.

Nothing in Outlook Express doesn't change, nothing. But remember, you don't have outlook express forever. It certainly doesn't work on your next computer.

  • Hi, I had to reset my laptop and it remove Thunderbird... I reinstalled it without problem, but where are my emails?

my laptop wouldn't load Windows, but then a screen came and gave me a few options (i.e. turn PC on / off) I did. It did not work. I clicked on the solutions in advance that gave me two options: 1. reset - which would keep my files but delete all the apps. and 2. Reboot - that would be to delete everything back to factory settings. I have Reset that remove Thunderbird among other programs. In any case, I tell myself that if I reinstalled Thunderbird all my emails would appear, they do not have. I'm sure they're somewhere, here, I don't know where to look. Can someone help me?

You can see a folder named

    C:\Windows.old\Users\your-username\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird

If you do not immediately see AppData, make sure that Windows displays the hidden files and folders. To change this setting, see this article - I hope that it is similar to Windows 10:

    Can find you it?

  • Thunderbird - move old email, different drive, was POP IMAP now

I have two variables with this one, so I want to make sure get tips on the solution that covers both issues.

I recently spent my wife to POP IMAP emails. Very shortly after that, his car went wrong (I can use it as a secondary drive - I just can't boot from it). So I got a new drive and I'm re - install the system on the new drive with the old drive mounted as a secondary drive.

I installed Thunderbird (and set up his account as IMAP) and want to import all of its old messages pop. I hesitate to copy on all his old profile messages, because it was POP and IMAP now is. What is the best solution?

(If it was MS Outlook, I don't want to create a file to archive with all its old messages - this option exists in Thunderbird?)

    Thanks for any help.

Oh, then you must copy all e-mails in local folders and then manually copy the appropriate directory. I don't have time to provide details + test this.

If it is not urgent, I can get to it this evening (EST).

This document on local folders contains details about the way in which they are stored, if you try to do this by yourself please make backups before. Oh and make backups. Did I mention backups?

And of course, make a backup.

  • How do I reinstall Thunderbird with minimum destruction to existing e-mail files

To save you time and effort, I read through the General procedure to reinstall Thunderbird (TB). In my case, however, found nothing which describes the procedure to the smallest detail, beyond ensuring backup / image content in my current profiles folder.

From what I've read, once TB is reinstalled, I simply copy (restore) content into the new profile folder created by the installation.

In my case, that the backup has already been done - because I have little space on the startup disk, I led TB to keep all my data on another drive, which drive is labeled with the letter D. My current installation of TB correctly use D for all the data without any problem. So, in theory, everything is already safe during a reinstallation of TB. Except that, after the reinstallation, I lead TB to place all user data on the D drive.

But who takes care of all the settings for a POP3, IMAP, and SMTP server for all my email, also well configured by the ISP accounts? Is that all that I have missed? Fear that you think I'll put it all on your shoulders, I intend to represent all of the system before reinstalling TB, just in case.

The things you mention are in profile, that your imaging process will likely restore to the D drive.

Education at Thunderbird refer on the drive D to find his profile is stored in the profiles.ini file, which will probably be restored by your C drive imaging process.

So I think you're good to go.

Only intervene if you change the structure, such as the transfer of the profile data on another drive, or change the path in a different way.

The only search that allows me to see whatever it is is Yahoo that I prefer not to use. • How can I remove an old error message from an account that no longer exists?

I deleted an outlook e-mail account express and put a new e-mail account, but now I get an error message on the account of fist and I don't know how to get rid of it please help me!

Go to shipping and the view box. Current view | Show all messages and make sure that there is no message there.  Delete all if there is.  Then go to tools | Accounts and are looking for the old account and highlight and select Remove.  Then see if that solves it.  If not, try to go to file | Identities and setup a new identity.  This will give you a new message store and you can add to your new account there and when it works, use file | Import | Messages to bring them from the old identity.

  • How can I move the outlook express emails from an XP PC to an another XP PC that has the same e-mail address without overwriting existing messages on this second PC?

How can I move the outlook express emails from an XP PC to an another XP PC that has the same e-mail address without overwriting existing messages on this second PC?

I need to group together all messages from e-mail in a PC and to retire the first PC.

This could be problematic. I guess or OE is over? This would make it easy.

One thing you could do requires some manual work, but much less removal of dupes. For example, the Inbox. In the machine, you are going to scrap, create a new folder and move all messages in your Inbox to it. After you import on the other machine, you can drag the messages you need this folder in the Inbox, and then remove the user created the folder.

And then there are tools to remove the dupes. This one for example.

  • import messages in outlook express inbox in outlook

I have 8 window. I tried to import messages from outlook express inbox messages to outlook but the computer just imported in items sent and delete items only. She did not import messages in the Inbox. The computer says windows encountered mail import your OE Mail errors. I did something wrong?

    Thank you

    DD

As a general rule, you must import OE to Outlook on the same computer (XP) and then transfer them to the new machine.

You try to import from the storage folder in OE dbx files?

If you still have the machine with OE set up, you can do it this way.

To create a Windows folder on the desktop from the old machine.
    * Open a folder in OE and drag the messages into the folder on the desktop. (They will remain in OE).
To copy this folder on the desktop on the new machine.
Open the folder and drag the messages to a folder in the new e-mail program.

  • Set up Thunderbird to always delete messages from the server

I want Thunderbird to delete all messages on the server everytime I open the program and collect the messages. More specifically, when I move a message read in a folder I don't want a copy of this folder or message on the server. How one who accomplishes?

Where is the folder to which you move the message?

Move your messages to local folders in Thunderbird and they will be stored on your computer and deleted the folder.

My guess is that your account is configured to use the IMAP protocol and you would be more comfortable with pop.

  • I want to use Thunderbird without saving e-mails on PC. How is that possible?

I want to use Thunderbird without saving any email to a local folder in my PC.
Can you help me please on this?
    Thank you.

There are two types - POP and IMAP
You will need to login to your webmail account using a browser and select the option to use the IMAP forwarding Protocol - assuming that the option is available.

E-mail POP accounts can only access the server Inbox.
Emails are downloaded to your computer and stored in your Thunderbird profiles folder. So this guy can't according to your needs.

IMAP e-mail accounts provide a remote view of files and emails stored on the server.

You subscribe to view these folders. Then the headers are downloaded and when you opt for the display of an email, the email is downloaded in a temporary cache.

Subscribed folders that are synchronized, download a copy of the file and store it in your Thunderbird profile. But these files are constantly updated to reflect what is stored on the server.

Your best option would be to create an IMAP e-mail account, you sign up to see the folders on the server, but do not select to synchronize subscribed folders.

E-mails stored in your Thunderbird profile on your computer load faster than those that must be retrieved from the server each time.

Info on the synchronization, so you can see how to turn on or off.
