Remote Desktop: delay Shift key

I'm using remote desktop and have great difficulty.  I meet about one to two second gap between the time that I press the SHIFT key and the time it registers on the desktop remotely.  I have the same deadline to release the key.  I also have the same delay for the control key.

Please help me if you can!  It's really bad to my productivity. Mobile data: level security line for SQL Server http://www.technicalmedia.com http://www.DataNomad.com

Hi, Mike Graham,.

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers.

It is the delay cause that with the shift key and the CTRL key?

The remote desktop connection is entirely dependent on the speed of the network connection, however you can change the connection speed settings, or use the least amount of Visual effects on the remote computer.

  1. Open Desktop connection remote by clicking Start , all programs, Accessoriesand then clicking Remote Desktop connection.
  2. Click Options, click experience.
  3. Choose the appropriate connection speed if necessary.
  4. Select or clear the check boxes for the Visual effects you want to use or display. In general, the fewer effects you select, the faster the connection will be. But selecting Bitmap caching will improve connection speed.

  • Remote Desktop, response delayed when typing using the SHIFT key

I have a laptop running Vista professional that I used to connect (DSL) to a desktop computer using remote desktop (XP) work.  Several months ago, I started noticing a response delayed when typing using the SHIFT key. For example my name, Garth, might get typed Garth, the text could (for example) get typed as 9 example0 and so on. The delay of the effects as well the pressed ALT key and assigns these keys on both sides of the keyboard.
I did not used to have this problem and wonder if an automatic update to my laptop (vista) could have caused this problem. This problem does not exist when I connect the laptop using office away from my local Starbucks. My other laptop (older) doesn't have this problem at home or on the go.

Well Garth, it seems that the problem may be with your home network if you have 'no' to this question when connecting to a local Starbucks.

While you're at home with this laptop and connected to your DSL, it is a problem if you are 'not' connected to the desktop computer?  Or is it a problem regardless of whether you are connected or not connected to the work computer?

  • Clients of remote desktop in Windows XP Professional

Hello - the situation I describe is very strange and somewhat reproducible in my environment. Really I am looking for the elements to look and see if anyone else has experienced this problem.

When you are in a session of the Bureau (specification of environment at the end of this post) and you start the desktop connection program remote (Version 6.1.7600 RDP 7.0) you connect to a server using RDP. In our environment, the servers are Server 2003 or 2008. If you do not have capital letters or special characters (! @# $% ^ & *) your password so this issue does not affect you. However if you do not have capital letters and/or symbols then this problem usually affects you. What happens is that you type your password as usual, but it will not let you on the server - it will show you your password or user name is incorrect. If you type really slowly, now the SHIFT key for longer than 1 second before hitting the combination key, then it will normally leave you.

It feels almost as if there is a delay of keyboard with the SHIFT key, but only in the RDP program window. If you type your password in Notepad then it turn out very well. Also, once you are on the remote server, there is no keyboard lag. In fact you don't see any shift of the keyboard when you type the password in the password box, but you cannot verify that the characters are accurate because of the mask of password.

I never noticed this problem before because my passwords were still tiny with numbers. A new user in our environment is one that for the first time the question because his password has the symbol @.

    Any ideas?

  • Remote Desktop XP SP3 timeout

If a remote desktop session to a XP SP3 running under Active Directory machine is idle for 15 minutes, the following 2 minute warning message is issued:

Session has been idle over its time limit. Logoff will start in 2 minutes. Press any key now to continue the session.
I looked for a setting in the group policies and only found one with a delay of 15 minutes. I have changed in Active directory and that you can see that the policy has changed on the remote session of XP but I still get the timeout. I have also checked the registry for delays of 15 minutes or 900 seconds and did not find anything, no one knows what setting could be responsible for this session timeout?

I could solve this problem in the registry. I finally found this entry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\terminal services\MaxIdleTime
It has been set at 900 000 mSec. or 15 minutes. I increased the value to 10 800 000 or 3 hours.
  • Shift key does not work properly

Hello - I have problems with my shift key. Some letters will benefit, some will not. Maj doesn t work also for the question marks, dollar signs, brackets etc.

Can anyone suggest the problem please /-question mark!
ABCDEFGHIjkllmnopQRSTuvwxyz - it seems to be the keys on the left side of the keyboard!

    Hello!

I think the best option would be if you connect an external keyboard and test it. You can connect it via USB.
If you have desktop, take the keyboard and test it on your laptop.

If the external keyboard works, you need a new internal keyboard. New keyboards are not so expensive then contact ASP and ask for it. ;)

  • Screen 5600ea - completely black HP Omni 10 after crash while on the remote desktop connection

I hope someone can help me with this.

I had updated my Omni 10 to Windows Pro 8.1 so that I can Office remotely on my tablet on my work lan to get the benefits of the 2013 Office (we have not this version to work) on my work PC.

Anyway, while it is connected to my 10 Omni via desktop remotely my Omni 10 crashed after connecting a USB drive that is powered via a USB OTG adapter. I used the front adapter without any problem with the USB card readers bus-powered and also the Lan USB card so I know it works, and the outlet powered USB hard drive works on my PC without any problem.

The Omni disconnected from the remote desktop, and I guess it crashed, but the screen is black even when I hold down the power button and wait for the vibration (which usually means that it is set to zero).

There is nothing displayed on screen, my work PC is unable to connect via Remote Desktop, and any number of power cycles seems to relive.

I tried with the attached Omni 10 charger and without.

There is no HP logo involve restarting at any point, but the Windows key infiltrates a vibration when I push on it.

While enjoying the fact that the Omni 10 comes with the base Windows 8.1 and not Pro so I changed the configuration it worked fine for a few weeks since the installation.

Pointers on getting this thing to life would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

I returned to the store that I bought, and they sent to HP for warranty repair.

28 days ago so I went back to the store and they gave me a brand new boxed 10 Omni processor.

When I got home I installed the driver and Windows updates. I noticed that the WiFi reception was really bad, even right next to my router, and the cameras had lines on the screen and the pictures that I took.

The next day I went back to the store and they said all that and they initially said that I have to wait another 28 days, while it went for repair. When I said that this was not acceptable, they gave me a full refund of the amount that I had paid and used that to purchase a Pro of Microsoft Surface.

The Microsoft Surface Pro is fast, well doneand more importantly everything works.

TAKE NOTE, HP - IT IS HOW A WINDOWS TABLET SHOULD BE.

I'm done with lag, unstable and downright unreliable HP products.

  • Terminal Services/Remote Desktop connections

We have problems with our Server Terminal server since last Thursday. It seems that all network clients that are disconnected from the remote desktop applications you after a few hours. Our technology company can't find a solution, except the purchase of new servers.  I think it's ridiculous. So I checked the web and found something on a registry change this: fDenyTSConnections from 1 to 0, which is not the case, given that fdenyTSConnections already has value 0.

What could be the cause of this problem?

After a Reboot of the Force, each customer is immediately connected to the remote office application and everything works fine. I can't find a cause or a solution, just a remedy that is not sustainable.

    Any suggestions?

  • Problem with Remote Desktop using router WRT54GC

    Hi all.

My husband and I travel with a computer and an iPhone each, so 4 wireless devices, when we travel, we use the WRT54GC to connect to DSL or broadband from the hotel and then create a LAN in the room using the WRT54GC so we can connect all our devices through the router to the internet.

    Key steps are:

    (1) connect to the router from the hotel to rent a computers IP address.

    (2) do an ipconfig to get the IP address leased the hotel, over the subnet, DNS servers, etc.

    (3) hook a computer into the WRT54GC and give him the IP address and other parameters and clone the IP address of the original computer used to connect to the hotel so that the hotel think that our WRT54GC is the same device.

    (4) connect the router to the wall to talk to the router of the hotel and to connect our devices on wifi LAN created by the WRT54GC and we're good to go.

Everything works very well and always, but with one exception: we normally use connection software Office Microsoft standard to logon remotely to our computers at home.  We use dyndns to update the IP address of the computer and were marketed in the House so that each computer is accessed through our home router when a query of the DRC between the use of this port forwarding port.

However, all of a sudden we cannot Remote Desktop our personal computers through the WRT54GC.

If we put the original computer used to access the router from the hotel directly to the connection to the local network, then there is no problem and that computer can successfully remote desktop, but once we put the router in the equation, we cannot do.

Any thoughts?  It's certainly something about the configuration of the router, but I checked the firewall and DNS, and those who are not suspects.  The router configuration has not changed in recent years and has always worked previously.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks for the tip!

We have recently started using logmein.com.  There is no charge for simple remote desktop, but the monitor resize and things is easier with it as the version of Microsoft, and for a small fee, you can activate on the management of files, allowing you to do things like file transfer between your home and remote computers easily.  I had tried to do in the past using DRC and it was too slow, but not also with logmein.com.

That's why we have not been totally freak out the problem, because we had a backup solution with this product, but my husband has a phone in his office, he can connect to while overseas to make calls since in Australia (where we live) while he gets a charge local calls only, and it does not work with logmein , that is why we must get Microsoft DRC will once again!

In any case, we use dyndns to administer a dynamic update of our IP address for our home router, is to make our computers at home and in a last ditch effort, I had a look at our account and re-joined our IP against our dynamic naming.  Hop, DRC said work again after that.

It is most strange, because the IP listed was the good IP, but somehow it seemed temporarily do not resolve correctly.

In any case, it's all fixed.

At least, it was pretty obvious that it was something somewhere between the router and the House, because of the way he acted. It's usually pretty obvious when your home network has fallen... we knew that is that since we could communicate by other means.

Thanks for the tip on the other remote tools.  I will certainly check.  There is never too much!

  • Impossible to copy and paste from/to XP using remote desktop

Due to problems, I have recently reinstalled Vista on my pc.  Before the reinstall, I could access my PC using XP, using remote desktop from work to distance and copy and paste the files from XP and Vista.

Since the reinstallation, I'm not able to copy/paste unless I have turn off UAC.  (I have progbably had turned off before, but he didn't.)  Is there a way to copy and paste them to work without disabling UAC?  Maybe some changes in the policy or registry?

Note: I use Remote Desktop with Clipboard selected for local devices and resources.

    TIA.

    Janis

I saw this thread earlier and it does not apply.  I would say the copy/paste of text works.  I can't copy and paste a file.  UAC seems to be the key here.

I found a work around.   I connect with a local drive.  Since the remote desktop, I can copy files to the local disk, which then I have the file available locally and I can go other directions.  It's a little slow, but it works for now.

  • Remote Desktop error

I get the error "the remote session was disconnected because the client access license remote desktop has been changed" stored on this computer when you try to connect to a computer server 2003.  I am running Windows 7, but have no problem connecting to two other computers on Server 2003 or XP.  He seems to have some type of conflict with this specific computer and Windows 7.  I can connect to this server from XP machine.

    Hi Russ,

First, I suggest to create a system manually, Restore Point so that in this case, a problem occurs when executing these steps, you can always perform a system restore and go back.

Normally we get this error message if the TS License on your computer is damaged or corrupted, you may need to remove the TS client. The license is stored in the registry of the client.

    1. click on start
    2. in the start search box type REGEDIT and press to enter.
    3. in the Registry Editor go to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MSLicensing.

To clean the client license cache, just delete this key and keys of void. The next time the client connects to the server, it will get another license.

    Registry warning:

Sometimes, this problem is due to two Windows that have been corrupted registry entries. To resolve this problem, you must use the registry editor to delete the corrupted registry entries.

However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, follow these steps in the KB Article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/

I hope this helps. Let us know the results.

  • SHIFT key gives bad non-alphanumerique character keys

I'm having a problem with the shift on Windows 7:

After using a program for some time, the SHIFT key suddenly begins to produce the bad characters non-alphanumeriques key.

It is the specific program - if I switch to another application, the shift key works fine. In addition, it disappears if I stop and restart the program.  But I've had this problem now in three unrelated applications, so that it looks like Windows 7, not the application.  In addition, it is a new feature of Windows 7, I never had XP or products previous (I skipped Vista!).

It is not specific to one machine - I had it located on my desktop and my laptop (both machines to Windows 7 that I use regularly).

It is quite possible that it is caused by pressing a combination of keys accidentally while I type, but I have no idea what could be the combination or how to restore normal operation.

It is not a big problem because there are solutions, but it's getting boring!

    Any help appreciated.

    Canada, eh?

Your keyboard has one or two other input languages available, probably the Canadian French and Canadian multilingual Standard which change the keyboard layout. Additional keyboard layouts will probably be triggered from assigned access keys. You need get the Advanced key settings within the input languages and text Services.

Certainly, it is hard to find dialogue. I had the same problem between US (in English), Canadian French and Canadian multilingual (standard). I left intact language, but removed the quick access keys.

If you spot a small icon keyboard in the Bar of Notification (right part of the taskbar, just to the left of the clock and a few other icons), then right-click and select settings.

If this isn't the case, you will need applet of the region and language Control Panel, dialog language and region , the button Change keyboards... the keyboards and languages tab.

Whatever it is, you should be at the service of text and input languages dialog box. Two options here:

    1. Remove all the languages that you do not want to stay on the system of the general tab.
    2. Click on the tab Advanced settings key . In the section of hot keys for input languages , use the Change Key Sequence button to remove any key Sequence that can interfere with your work. This includes the setting between the input languages (usually at the top of the list and probably the one causing your trouble).

Click OK when you get out of each progressive dialogue in order to save the changes you have made.
