Remote Desktop XP SP3 timeout

If a remote desktop session to a XP SP3 running under Active Directory machine is idle for 15 minutes, the following 2 minute warning message is issued:

Session has been idle over its time limit. Logoff will start in 2 minutes. Press any key now to continue the session.
I looked for a setting in the group policies and only found one with a delay of 15 minutes. I have changed in Active directory and that you can see that the policy has changed on the remote session of XP but I still get the timeout. I have also checked the registry for delays of 15 minutes or 900 seconds and did not find anything, no one knows what setting could be responsible for this session timeout?

I could solve this problem in the registry. I finally found this entry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\terminal services\MaxIdleTime
It has been set at 900 000 mSec. or 15 minutes. I increased the value to 10 800 000 or 3 hours.

  • Remote Desktop left the unlocked console session after I disconnect, - BAD!

Often, I connect to my Home PC, Windows XP Pro SP3 running to work.  When I leave the House, the session is locked.

I recently discovered that when I disconnect from a remote desktop session, the computer is left * unlocked * even if I disconnect the session by locking the PC.

I'm fairly certain that it wasn't how things behave initially.  This change with SP3?

Currently, I connect to work with a Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) machine, but there is this problem with my old laptop which ran from XP Pro SP3.

How can I stay locked to disconnect the console session?

END THE SESSION IS NOT AN OPTION.  I have user programs that run in the session that must continue to run. I have need of the session is running, but locked.

    Hello

In my case it was the full client of Teamviewer which is a problem, including a version earlier than 5.1.9385, when I upgraded to this one, the problem disappeared!

Now there's another question that should be checked, if you Live Mesh Beta (which runs on windows XP and not a new one which has no Vista/7), then there are chances that you have activated the Remote Desktop feature, you can find two devices under the 'View' node in the Device Manager named 'Live Mesh curtain Driver' and 'Live Mesh Mirror Driver. You can turn them off, restart and check if the problem persists.

A last suggestion if the above could not solve the problem is to update the drivers of network card in your machine.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello

I had a similar problem in the past and found that the problem started when I installed Log Me In on the host computer.

Has not solved the problem by removing only, I had to remove the Log Me In graphic card in Device Manager.

Conclusion, the graphics card in Device Manager must have one and only good driver. Re-install the driver can also help if you have only a list.

    Good luck!!

  • Configure XP Professional remote desktop so that I can access my documents on 3 laptops running Windows 7 Ultimate that I use outside my house.

My main office at home running XP Pro SP 3. It has two hard drives of very large that I keep all my information and products as well as the more recent favorites that can are no longer synchronized through windows live, as they did before.

My 3 laptops are running Windows 7 Ultimate (two are Core 2 and one is an Intel i7) the smallest HDD is 320 GB, 500 GB and the i7 is 650 GB.  But I tried many serveral ways to connect and I know it must be something simple that I'm missing.

I read the Article ID: 969084 Description of the Remote Desktop Connection 7.0 and was about to run just with this option up to what I saw in the section:

951608 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/951608/) Description of the Credential Security Service Provider (CredSSP) in Windows XP Service Pack 3.  From the PDF file is sounds like I need to have a server X.509 certificate.
So one of my questions would be - is it true?
My second question would be if I don't use a server are there fees for the certificate?
Thank you for all the advice?

You don't need a certificate to connect to XP Pro SP3 by using remote desktop.  I just checked in you connecting to my computer XP Pro SP3 on a Windows 7 Ultimate computer.

To connect to your computer XP Pro on the Internet, you must configure the firewall on the computer and your router to wide band to enable unsolicited remote desktop connections.

  • XP Remote Desktop cannot connect to Windows 7: error 0xc00002fd

I use Remote Desktop 6.1.7600 on Windows XP sp3 on two different computers and I am trying to connect to a Windows 7 machine on the same domain of one of them.  On the first machine to XP, I have several times a 0xC00002fd error "an authentication error has occurred" when you try to connect to the Windows 7 computer.  On the second XP machine I'm simply asked to password and user id several times.  On both XP machines I have activated CredSSP according to MS kb article 951608.  I'm an admin on the Windows 7 machine and uses my own credentials to connect.  This connection has worked in the past at least one of these XP machines and now all of a sudden it does not, or only intermittently.  Dr Mac OSX version seems to work perfectly.  This makes me wonder if there was an update on the XP side that makes CredSSP work correctly?

  • HP LaserJet M1132 MFP prints not a remote desktop

    Hello

I have a MFP HP LaserJet M1132 (number of product CE847A) connected to a PC (MS Windows XP Home Edition + SP3) via the USB port. There is no problem with the printer. However, when using Remote Desktop connection (it is set to use the resources and local facilities, or in my case, printers and ports series) on the server (MS Windows Server 2008 R2), I can't even print a test of a remote office page.

Error message: "print a test page failed. You want to display a tool to solve printing problems to get help? »

But it does not anywhere as planned is access to the internet, and I've not had a MS Windows Server 2008 R2.
The same error is for the HP LaserJet M1120n MFP.

On my PC I installed another printer - old OKI ML321 (needle) connected to a PC using LPT cable and network printer Konica Minolta 1690MF (in another room). In two of these printers can easily print a test of a remote office page.

    Please help me.

    Thank you for your interest.
The situation is a little different from the image. Windows Server 2008 R2 is available across the WAN. LAN is connected to the PC-1, 2 - PC and printer Konica Minolta. HP LaserJet M1120n MFP is connected through the USB port of the PC-1. OKI ML 3320 printer is connected via LPT also to the PC-1. PC - 1 has access to Konica Minolta printer via the local network. PC - 2 also has access to Konica Minolta printer via the local network. PC - 2 is also available for PC-1 HP and OKI.

It seems to me that I found the explanation for printing problems - some of 'my' printers are simply not compatible with Windows Server 2008 R2. I found on the net the following information:
