Remote Desktop scrambles my icons according to the work of remote desktop

I have remote desktop at home on a netbook to my work desk. Without fail, the next time I look at my office work, the icons are rearranged and some are missing. All solutions?

A workaround that I could suggest is Microsoft, Stardock Corporationpartner.  They make a product called fences that organizes the Windows desktop icons, and I think it is smart arrangement due to changes in resolution.  It's also a free app, so it might be a good target for what you need.

I would like to create a desktop icon to launch the Scanner dialog box. I'm not a fan of the approach to Tile Windows.

Under Windows, 8.1, there was a desktop icon which allow me to connect to my Officejet 6500 unit and allow the scan to computer option. Who disappeared with the upgrade of Windows 10.

I ran the print and Scan doctor and it solved the problems. When I went to test scanning, it arises from the familiar dialog box where I could choose different settings.

It worked perfectly. But after having closed the doctor, I could not find any place to launch the new dialogue box, outside the doctor.

I downloaded and installed the scanning HP and Capture app. It works very well, but I rather not leaving office to launch it, or use it enough to justify the taskbar setting.

Is it possible to create a desktop icon for the application of scanning and Capture

    or

is there a way to create an icon to launch the dialog box scan that print and Scan Doctor uses?

    I prefer this one.

    Hello

Thank you for using the HP Forums.

Is there a way to create the shortcut to scan on your desktop. Try the following steps:

    1. open a file Explorer

    2 C: > Program Files (x 86)

    3 program Files (x 86) > HP

    4 HP > HP Officejet 6500

    5 HP Officejet 6500 > Bin

    6 bin > Scanner HP

    7. right click on the analysis of HP and "create shortcut".

You'll get a prompt that "Windows cannot create a shortcut here.  Do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead?    Select "Yes".

    Hope that helps!

  • Windows XP: desktop icons changed to the same names, but retained their original functions

    Hello

I know that put at the point before, but the problem was never properly solved. I have Windows XP. While I was changing the name of one of my Office Word Document files yesterday, all of a sudden all my desktop icons changed under the same name. I can't tell you how it happened. 'My computer', 'My Documents', 'Trash' 'Internet Explorer', 'Adobe Reader', 'Corel Photo House', "MS Paint", "HP Solution Center" and eight other program launch icons, as well as 12 document records and 25 files of Word document on my desk, all had the same name change that I'd just been undertaken with one Word on my desktop files. Each icon has yet launched the successful operation or properly open to its original content.

I called my friends in the Geek Squad to two different Best Buys and they had never heard of him. I called Microsoft Corp. in Washington State and spoke to someone there. He had never heard of this before but found a couple of reports, one in 2006 and one in 2009. He said that he asked around the House Microsoft and if he could find an answer, post it on the forum.

No one was able to tell me how it could happen and no one could tell me how to fix it.

I then, on my own, done a restore of the system in two days. He restored the original names on all the items that I have listed above and it restored the original names on all 12 desktop file folders. But it does not restore the names under the 25 Word document files. Those that I had to open individually to see what they were and then rename them manually the original name. Would enjoy to hear your opinion on this.

    Pete Speth

    Hi Pete,.

I tried what you wrote... Select all the files, rename one file and all the files are renamed automatically - as I thought - but for a change of my computer, my network places and My Document obtained renamed the sting that it represents in the registry! I tried CTRL + Z file names seem to be restored, but not for the default icons!... Seems interesting...

  • Problems with the work computer remote desktop connection

I used the remote desktop for VPN connections to work for a few years.  My new employer has a Sonic Wall VPN.  My home PC is running XP.  The work computer is Windows 7.  I activated the remote on this computer connectivity.  I can connect to the VPN with a number.  Remote Desktop detects the computer to work without problems as well.  When I try to signon with my valid credentials, I get a message that my ID or password is invalid.  By using the same credentials locally everything works perfectly.  I tried to connect with my user disconnected and connected in the workplace with no difference in results.  Any thoughts there?

    Hi DougH_50,

Your Windows XP question is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the IT Pro TechNet public. Please post your question in the TechNet Windows XP Networking forum.

on my desktop, the icon, (text under the icon) are highlighted, is anyway to have just the text under the icon? Thank you

This is probably caused by your background color of your screen.  You can confirm this by:

If you have a Web page on your screen, then you will need set the color manually by:

    (1) right click on your desktop and select "Properties".
    (2) this should bring up your "Display properties" dialog box  (You can also get it by going to your control panel and double-clicking on 'Display'.)
    3) click on the tab "Office".
    (4) on the bottom right of the dialog box, there is a 'Color' option and below which shows the colors of the office - this must match what you see on the screen.
    (5) simply change the color to whatever color you want and then click on the 'OK' button to close the "display properties".

If you do not have any web content on your desktop, you can set the transparent icon labels by:

    (1) right-click on 'My Computer' then click 'properties '.
    2) click on the "Advanced" tab
    (3) in the 'Performance' section, click on the button "settings".
    (4) make sure that "shadows fall to use the desktop icon labels" is checked
    5) click on the 'OK' button to get out of the "Performance Options".
"6) click on the 'OK' button to get out of" System Properties "
    (7) right click on desktop
    (8) mouse on "arrange icons by".
    (9) be sure that "Lock Web items on desktop" is unchecked.  (If it is, just click once.)

I was the successful download software "Pinyin Sougo" on my computer, but no icon displayed on the desktop.  Please help solve this problem.

    Thank you very much!

The program may not have been built to automatically add a desktop icon.  To find it, try to open the start menu and in the search box, type "Pinyin".

  • The desktop icons back to the generic image

    Windows 7 Home Premium SP1

Sometimes, after a reboot or a restart, some desktop icons return to what seems to be a generic image.
It is a rectangle that resembles a Windows screen, with the shortcut arrow.
Not the same icons on each occurrence.

    The links work.

After a reboot/restart, some (or perhaps all) icons return to their application-specific image.

    I can't find any file IconCache.db.

Whence the icon display get the icon image files?

  • Recent Places icon appearing on the desktop when ever I go to recent locations in the Favorites

When ever I go to recent locations in the Favorites page to clean my memory this recent locations icon appears on the desktop WITHOUT option to right click and delete OR drag it to the trash

I found a tutorial on the web that provides a way to remove the icon
1.right - click recent locations in the field of Favorites tab in Explorer.
    2. click on "send to", and then select Desktop
This will automatically replace the existing icon and replace it with a DESKTOP SHORTCUT
    3. simply delete the shortcut

But this issue should be fixed in next update, or maybe it is set in point 8.1 of Windows because it's REALLY BORING to this procedure whenever you clear recent locations

Thank you very much! To solve my problem... As you have said, I hope there will be an update so that we do not have to constantly...

    Much appreciated, Cheers

  • wireless system tray icon disappears when the wired connection is present

When I plug in ethernet, the wireless icon disappears in the system tray.  Sometimes I connect to a Wi - Fi, and at the same time.

Is there a way to make it stay put?

    Hello

It is not possible to show the two notification icons when you connect to a Wi - Fi network and at the same time in the system tray.

When you connect to a wired connection, it will display the wired connection icon and if you connect to the internet wireless, it will display an icon of wireless connection. Both will appear in the same time.

However if you have connected both cables and wireless Internet, it will show you one of the two icons based on the priority that you have set.

We can change the priority of the network connections and make them follow an order of desired connection. You can make Windows 8 use wired connection instead of wireless. When you start your laptop, if there is a wireless connection, your Windows laptop will connect to the Wi - Fi connection. Even if you connect to a wired connection, usage will continue to be the Wi - Fi connection. This is because, when more than one network connection is available, Windows uses the one with the lowest metric value.

To change the priority of network connection, follow the steps.

    a. press the Windows key + C.

    b. Select Search and then type network connections.

    c. now, click the ALT key to open the convening of Menu bar. Click on advanced settings. This will open the properties box.

    d. under the tab cards and links, you will see the list of connection and Windows services related to the order in which they are consulted by network connections and others. The default value is Wi - Fi, Ethernet, and then remote access. The network connections service manages objects in the network and remote access connections folder, in which you can view the local area network and remote connections. Using up and down arrows, you can change their order and set it according to your priorities. When you change the setting as shown above and make Ethernet as first choice, your laptop will use the wired connection first by choice.

    e. click OK and the output.

Your Windows PC will now follow this order of priority when the detection of the available network connections.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Why my address bar has a series of icons (rather than the url) when I click on certain sites?

When I visit certain websites, instead of the URL for the site appearing in my address bar, I get this long string of weird looking for icons that extend all the way through to the address bar in the search bar. I have never seen this before until a few months ago. When I click the icon on the far left inside the address bar I get this message: "this website does not provide identity information.

Is it possible to get rid of these icons and have the site URL appears in the place?

    Hello

The leftmost button is the Site identity button. For more information about this, please see:

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the other icons disappear. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that disables certain parameters, disables most Add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Mode safe mode as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. Please follow the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

If these icons are still there on your address in safe mode bar, please provide us with a screenshot. If you need help to create a screenshot, please see How to make a screenshot of my problem?

Once you have done so, attach the file to screen shot saved to your post on the forum by clicking on the button Browse... under the box to post your reply . This will help us to visualize the problem.
