  • Join two disks into one logical volume

I have wals on El capitan. I use Linux and Unix in a professional environment.

My problem is simple. I have two external drives (4). I wanted to create a single logical volume to 8 to install Itunes and my Plex directory.

I am looking for the command to create a single drive with two drives.

I look in disk utility and I can't find anything.

I have phone applecare and they have no answer.

In my view, there are some terminal commands to do what disk utility used to do.

    Dear support,

We currently drive C of the hard drive space: 60GB, D drive: 100,10 Go, drive E: GB 1702,86. We are facing a problem while investing current logical volume that is drive E: (1.6 to). Currently, we have 2 TB of space of hard disk with RAID5.
We need to spend this volume by adding new HDD 2 TB. After you add the harddsik battery RAID 5, you can see 4 TB total. But we can see the unallocated space 2 (185,04 GB and GB 1677,93). We can only devote our E: 185,04 Go drive. But, cannot spend and cannot use 1677,93 Go.

  • Can't see the logical volume when creating data store - vSphere 4.1

Hi guys, got another problem with ESXi 4.1 on a HP Proliant ML350 G6.

ESXi 4.1 update 1 has been installed successfully on the server on an internal USB. Our next step is to create a store of data through the vSphere client.

The server has five 500 GB SAS configured in a RAID 5 array drives. The server has a HP Smart Array P410i RAID controller. I see five physical disks and logical volume of about 2.3 TB in RAID Utility. However, when access us the hypervisor via the vSphere client and try to create a data via a storage LUN/local store, the display shows then no logical volumes or the drive bays on which to create a data store.

We are usnure why this is, as the ESXi 4.1 installation program could see this logical volume when I was installing the hypervisor, but he does not appear in vSphere for use in a data store.

    If anyone can help?

    Thank you very much.

Each disk must be less than 2 TB - 512b

  • Cannot remove dumpfile created volume vmfs - 5.5

I have a 5.5 with only local storage server I recently upgraded to 5.1.

A few days ago I had inventoried all my VM folders on the next partition:

Today, when cleaning latest virtual machines, I find the following:

    /vmfs/volumes/guest/vmkdump/44454C4C-4400-1048-805A-C7C04F4C4631.dumpfile

I don't know what created this... I understand there dumpfiles that can be created on PSODs, but I can't find any reference to a real folder called "vmkdump."

When I try to delete it, I get the following:

According to KB 10051, the number of updates in bold above is intended to indicate the MAC address of the owner of the lock.  Which makes absolutely no sense to me, that's the address, it belongs to the second internal NETWORK card in this system:

As you can see that this NETWORK adapter is in down state... it is not plugged in and has never been used (recently) for anything.

If the NIC information above seem to be a loophole... and the owner of the directory in question seems to be simply the volume itself (?)

I'm worried because not only I want to remove this file from my store of data (or at least understand the need for it), but because of the small cryptic information that I can see so far I don't think that sounds a coredump is / was being created.

To the best of my knowledge, this system has no other problems, it starts very well and apart from some other errors not apparent, miners, I saw in newspapers, I know not what could be the cause.

Advice is very welcome as to what is happening!

Yes NightWing... the coredump file is 5.5

Size of the system increases lead to larger ESXi unannounced dumps core. The partition of coredump for new installations of ESXi 5.5 is 2.5 GB. For upgrades from previous versions of ESXi 5.5, the core dump partition is limited to 100 MB for ESXi crashes. For many large systems, this limit is not enough space and dump logs are truncated. The limit has an impact on the ability of triage ESXi system issues and the core.

Updates with limits on partitions of 100 MB, during the boot process, the system might create a dump file. If it does not create a dump file, you can create it manually with the command of file coredump esxcli system.

The partition which added isn't the vmfs partition, but since the partition created during installation esxi coredump.

No, you can not have created /vmkdump if you do not have a coredump in vmfs.

If you think, that your esxi broke down somewhere, look at/var/core... If any coredump is, your Inbox may have thrown some time, otherwise you're good to go.

In addition, in the case of vmfs partition coredump configured, once you have deleted the file, a new file will be in place if and only if your box has panicked and dumped core.

  • How can I partition logical volume from 5.5 TB Raid on a ML350 G6 server for ESX data warehouse creation

Today, we received a new ML350 G6 server. It has 8 hard disks of size 1 TB each.i have created a volume unique raid 6 and raid is 5.5 TB usable for the logical unit space. The server starts with a picture of ESXi 3.5 on a USB key provided by HP with the server. When I login and checking configuration& gt; stroage adapters& gt; pi400 Smart array for physical disk controller, I couldn't see any disk. I know that ESX will not support the volume size more than 2 C.T.

I don't want to create a raid volume children (example two raid 6 volumes with 4 hard drives), because it will reduce the amount of disk space, I can use.

Is it possible to create 3 partitions on this volume 5.5 TB raid with the configs below?. All the tools that everyone knows that I can use to create partitions? I tried GPARTED, but it doesn't work

    LUN 0-2 TO

    1-2 TO LUN

    LUN 2-1, 5 TB

You cannot have a drive that is larger than 2 TB.

Create multiple logical disks, not different partitions.

  • the logical volume change question

    Hi all

    I'm a bit rusty...

On an audio track, I would like to take a little bit of audio in the middle of a track - drag from left to right - pointing out a few bars and when I let go automatic volume benchmarks would start at the end.

Then, I would just be able to click inside the selection and do increase or decrease the volume for this section.

I forgot the tools to do this easily

Can anyone remind me how to do this?

    Hello

With the automation of volume showing track, use the marquee tool to "slide". Click and drag the volume automation curve to adjust as you describe

  • Time Machine can't see the 2nd Logical Volume

    I have a RN104, there 4x3TB disks in there, configured in 2xRAID 1 volumes.

The 2nd Volume has recently added so that I can activate and use Time Machine for backups of my Mac.

That's the problem, when I start to set up Time Machine, it cannot see the remaining space in the 1st volume, I can't find a way to set up Time Machine to see or use the available space of the volume, I have installed specifically for Time Machine backups.

    All the thoughts/views/answers?

    Hello Thresherinc,

The /data/home/USER/.timemachine is where Time Machine stores data, this folder is always the default value / 1 volume of the NAS and can never be moved.

  • How to remove a logical Partition without disturbing the other

Hello, I recently ran into some trouble.

As you can see from the picture, there are little free space next to the D: (10.55 GB) drive. I want to merge the free space with the 5 GB unallocated space and want to create a primary partition to install another version of windows. The problem is that when I right click the free space, the partition option delete is gray. I discovered that to delete the D: drive to get space but I can't do that. Even my backup drive is full.

So, how do to remove free space without disturbing D: drive

You can merge only the free and not allocated using a third-party partitioning tool and not the built in tool of victory.

    It's free http://www.easeus.com/partition-manager/epm-free.html

If you add another partition to base all existing partitions will be converted to dynamic, the recovery partition to the then will no longer work

    Hello-

You're not quite call things correctly.  There are 2 two different things you need to do:

    1. "point source" the .ps1 file in which the function is defined by doing something like: ".." c:\temp\functionDefinitionfilename.ps1 ".
    2. _then_, you must call the function name (not the name of the .ps1 file) and can pass parameters (such as "Get-VNVMHostLogicalVolumeInfo - VMHostName myvmhost0.dom.com"

To article 0, you _must_ include the period and the space before the name of the file in which the function is defined.  This action is what makes the "Get-VNVMHostLogicalVolumeInfo" function available in your PowerShell session.  It is the "supply point".

Then, for question 1, which is the function name, "Get-VNVMHostLogicalVolumeInfo", not the name of the definition of the function (the .ps1 file) file.  Until you do these two things, you will continue to get zero results.  You follow?
