Repeat applies without using Data Guard

Hello everyone,

I would like to redo apply to a database of pending. Unfortunately, the DB's standard edition for Data Guard is not an option. Is there documentation on how to achieve something like the roll forward apply without using Data Guard?

Kind regards
Frank

Hi I have a question about Data Guard, can we use Data Guard to apply the bidirectional log? I mean keeping the two of them primary and standby to Active status (read write Mode).

  • How to use Data Guard with E-Business Suite

    Hello

I'm trying to get my head around how would you use Data Guard with E - Business Suite.

I know that you can use only physical standby with EBS, however I have a few basic questions about specific values < SETTING > and how they are treated by a standby.

Given that the standby and primary servers will have different host names and that generally there are < FRAME > specific values that include the hostname, where they will have to change on the standby server, both from the point of view of the battery backup Apps and within the standby database itself, I wondered how it would happen.

Usually, EBS cloning process would change the < FRAME > target settings in the target apps stack and the target database (for example, parameters such as FND_NODES etc.).

Q1. However I do not know how the process of cloning E - Biz would fit with a database of the day before?

Q2. As the standby database won't even be in an open State, I don't know yet how you would apply a party any of the cloning process to a database of pending to the target?

Q3. Even if you were able to change on the eve of the database to reflect the < FRAME > from backup server, it would mean surely it was more a physical copy of the primary database, that's why it would be more a day before.

All a bit confusing - any clarification appreciated

  • Archiving logs apply frequency in Data Guard

    Dear all,

How can we verify/set up the frequency archive newspapers should be applied to the Data Guard?

    Version: 10 g 2; OS: Windows 2003 R2 (64-bit).

How we can configure the frequency of archive logs must be applied to the DG?

Erase the question once more what you're expecing, as I understand, it's...

It depends on the Redo genearation / Archive primary & network latency between primary databases & Eve.
There is a configuration, you can change in the primary to put options such as delay , net_timeout and so on.

    consult this manual too.

  • Flashback Database using Data Guard environment

    11.2.0.3/RHEL 5.8

I came across several documents that speak of FLASHBACK DATABASE configuration in dataguard environments. We have several
Physical DBs sleep (Single Instance & RAC) running in our shop. I would like to know two or three major (common) use of FLASHBACK DATABASE data child care settings.

I understand one of the uses mentioned in the below URL ie. a logical error recovery

    http://uhesse.com/2010/08/06/using-flashback-in-a-Data-Guard-environment/

I would like to know what are the other major/common use of Flashback Database River in environment DataGuard

    A few other uses:

    (1) flashback allows you to test your DR. So you can activate your watch. Test the connectivity of network/applications and features on your recovery site and when done return the database to a physical standby. It must however ensure that this is allowed in your environment. In some places, I worked, it would be a big no, no, because they have no needs of data loss. However some companies that will allow as long that the watch is delivered in place for some time.

    (2) in the case that you do a failover for a reason, but what has been the main site would then become available, you can flashback what has been your primary to make the eve rather than re-instatiating the database from scratch.
For example. You have a power failure on your main site if perform you a failover and your watch becomes the principal. Once it's your main site is back online, you can convert your previous primary in a day before making a full return/restoration (or any method you choose) to recreate your standby again. However you also have the option to use flashback on this database and then convert it to a watch because it would be potentially faster than the re-instantiation of the day before.

  • How to find the list of the patches applied without using the inventory?

    Hello

    I asked this question once.
How you will find the list of the patches applied to the House of Oracle database without using commands like opatch lsinventory - detal etc...
I think that registry$ story is a view from where you can find the list of the applied patches.
But I think that he understands all the bug fixes, stand alone or one-off patches. It will mainly list on the CPU patches applied (correct me if I'm wrong).

  • 12 c multitenant, clone database using Data Guard?

    Hello

    11.2.0.3

We have a database that uses the data custody (physical standby). Looking at the future, the ability to clone of the multitenant 12th century is really very nice.

Someone has already tried to clone a physical database eve? That the cloning of the production database is one of the real benefits that we see today with 12 c. Cloning of the primary requires downtime.

How you guys to clone your production in 12 c? Would be nice if we could clone the day before.

    Concerning

    3

    It is:

    create standby_2 of the pluggable database of Eve;

    Plug-in, database created.

Take a look at the link in my previous post.

  • I still do the full backup after using Data Guard?

    Jackliusr wrote:

Preferred to have full backup of every day.
May be you can perform failover of your sleep, in which case there is no availability on the primary database. So do you think that the stability of the monitoring system is the same as elementary school and can give the same performance?
location of Eve may be too far and it's only disaster.
Allows another case, suppose that your wait is behind that primary for 4-5 days due to some problems. At the same time your production crashed while you have the chance of data fo loose 4-5 days. Recommended to have a full backup still database primary.

If you check the stability of database daily watch and able to check your data by opening properly and you want RMAN backup, it is fine. But it is highly recommended to have RMAN backup.

BTW, you can have RMAN backup full standby, if you want to avoid the resources to be used on the primary

  • Physical movement of the databases using Data Guard

    Hi all

We need to move our equipment to a new physical location.

Our production database (11.2.0.4) is replicated to another computer using dataguard (MaxAvailability mode)

The plan was to move the machine SRD first Monday, then the database of production during the next weekend.

Do you have an idea how to do a 'pause' the replication when the move will take place for two servers?

We do not want to do a failover because the production should not be available over the weekend.

    Thanks in advance,

    Renaud

Do you have an idea how to do a 'pause' the replication when the move will take place for two servers?

There is no such method of the break, but you could defer the primary log shipping to wait.

ALTER system set log_archive_dest_state_2 = reporter; #assuming that log_archive_dest_2 on the primary it again waiting for ships

But, you must make sure that the archives on the primary are not lost or deleted after reporter such as these are not available on standby.

Once you 'enable' the destination deferred, Eve should automatically catch up with the primary.

  • How to move from Data Guard time really apply (restore) to archive the journal

    Hello

Standby database configured with broker and application really remake in time; However, I want to change it to archive the journal apply mode without losing the broker configuration. Is this possible? If it is not possible to use the broker to make archive log apply, I can remove the broker and use Data Guard to set up the day before to use the archive log apply?

    Concerning

    Hello;

Broker automatically allows real-time applies to databases on hold if the standby database has standby redo logs configured.

    Stop repeat applies

    DGMGRL> EDIT DATABASE 'PRIMARY' SET STATE='APPLY-OFF';

    Repeat restart applies broker

    DGMGRL> EDIT DATABASE 'PRIMARY' SET STATE='APPLY-ON';

In order to get rid of standby redo logs would be a way. I would like to leave myself alone. Real time assistance to prevent the loss of data.

  • Data Guard versus Active Data Guard?

    Environment:

Oracle on Solaris 5.10 EA 11.2.0.3 database

I have read several threads here and paid through the documentation, but this point still escapes me.

When Data Guard to become Active Data Guard?

When Eve is OPEN and in read mode ONLY all redo logs are actively applied?

If I stop log apply and OPEN the day before for READONLY access, is this just regular Data Guard?

I want to of course use Data Guard but not pay for Active Data Guard at this stage.

    Where this is documented?

  • RAC and Data Guard

I just want to know if my main site's CAR and I want to set up a physical standby site using Data Guard; the backup site must be in configuration CARS as well, or can it be a stand alone configuration?

    Hey Buddy,

I just want to know if my main site's CAR and I want to set up a physical standby site using Data Guard; > the backup site must be in configuration CARS as well or can it be a stand alone configuration?

No, it is not mandatory. You can set up a watch using one instance and the database with the help of a RAC. as well as the opposite.

For example, I've already migrated a RAC to a single instance, using stand-by. Rather than perform a failover, we performed a switchove, then the database primary was a single instance and the day before by a RAC database.

  • Data Guard can apply to a single schema

We want to test the Data Guard feature to our customer. While with space limited in the catchment area, management wants to apply Data Guard for an instand little test of the entire database schema. I don't think it is possible newspaper archive sent and applied to the wait, those redo entries involving that another data schema will cause the error.

Just want to confirm that my thinking is correct.

    Hello

You are right, it is not possible to have dataguard for unique schema, you can use it to any database.

Outside the trial, if you want to have the replication of a set of tables or diagrams instead of the whole base then you can use golden gate for that.

I will recommend you to create a new DB test and test dataguard on it.
