Data Guard can apply to a single schema

We want to test the Data Guard feature to our customer. While with space limited in the catchment area, management wants to apply Data Guard for an instand little test of the entire database schema. I don't think it is possible newspaper archive sent and applied to the wait, those redo entries involving that another data schema will cause the error.

Just want to confirm that my thinking is correct.

Hello

You are right, it is not possible to have dataguard for unique schema, you can use it to any database.

Outside the trial, if you want to have the replication of a set of tables or diagrams instead of the whole base then you can use golden gate for that.

I will recommend you to create a new DB test and test dataguard on it.

    Hi I have a question about Data Guard, can we use Data Guard to apply the bidirectional log? I mean keeping the two of them primary and standby to Active status (read write Mode).

    That Golden Gate or water courses that will work in two ways. One or the other. Puts additional requirements on the hardware is the downside.

    Data Guard does not do that.

  • Data Guard Performance: apply Lag

    In Cloud control there is a measure called "Lag (seconds) apply" under a group called 'Data Guard Performance '.  I created an alert on this metric rule.  However, I want to know what thresholds are defined for this measure, if I look under the supervision of models.  He isn't here.  There are also a number of other Performance measures of custody of data that is, I can't find or add in templates.  Can anyone help?

    From the home page of a database on hold, you can navigate to the (Oracle database > surveillance >) metrics and Collection settings page and select all the metrics view to check or set thresholds for (Data Guard Performance) metrics apply Lag. Note that by default, no limit is set for this measure.

  • Create a user can access a single schema - please help!

    Hi all

    I want to create a user in an Oracle database that can only access a single schema. I did the following:

    CREATE THE USER 'TEST' PROFILE 'DEFAULT.

    IDENTIFIED BY 'test' TABLESPACE DEFAULT 'USERS '.

    TEMPORARY TABLESPACE "TEMP".

    RELEASE OF ACCOUNT;

    GRANT SELECT ON "TESTDTA". "" F0007 ' TO 'TEST '.

    GRANT 'CONNECT' TO THE 'TEST ';

    I did a test and the TEST user can access all schemas, when I only gave the explicit permissions for the TESTDTA schema.

    Any suggestion/precision?

    Thanks in advance.

  • How to move from Data Guard time really apply (restore) to archive the journal

    Hello

    Standby database configured with broker and application really remake in time; However, I want to change it to archive the journal apply mode without losing the broker configuration. Is this possible? If it is not possible to use the broker to make archive log apply, I can remove the broker and use Data Guard to set up the day before to use the archive log apply?

    Concerning

    Hello;

    Broker automatically allows real-time applies to databases on hold if the standby database has standby redo logs configured.

    Stop repeat applies

    DGMGRL> EDIT DATABASE 'PRIMARY' SET STATE='APPLY-OFF';

    Repeat restart applies broker

    DGMGRL> EDIT DATABASE 'PRIMARY' SET STATE='APPLY-ON';

    In order to get rid of standby redo logs would be a way. I would like to leave myself alone. Real time assistance to prevent the loss of data.

  • Archiving logs apply frequency in Data Guard

    Dear all,

    How can we verify/set up the frequency archive newspapers should be applied to the Data Guard?

    Version: 10 g 2; OS: Windows 2003 R2 (64-bit).

    How we can configure the frequency of archive logs must be applied to the DG?

    Erase the question once more what you're expecing, as I understand, it's...

    It depends on the Redo genearation / Archive primary & network latency between primary databases & Eve.
    There is a configuration, you can change in the primary to put options such as delay , net_timeout and so on.

    consult this manual too.

  • Captivate in 8, can you apply an effect (for example, a transition) for the grouped shapes? (I can apply the effect to a single shape, but when I group forms, I can't understand how).

    Captivate in 8, can you apply an effect (for example, a transition) for the grouped shapes? (I can apply the effect to a single shape, but when I group forms, I can't understand how).

    Hello

    It is not possible to apply effects to groups of forms. You can apply the transition from the distribution panel and other properties in the property inspector.

    You will need to apply the same effect of the same duration for all objects in a group in this case.

    Thank you.

  • Protection Mode change Data Guard.

    Experts,

    Ask your entries on the Data Guard protection mode change, below, is our environment:

    BECAUSE with two nodes: primary
    Single stand-alone Server DB: Eve
    Apply real-time: enabled

    For the primary and Standby databases, it's protection guard data display "Maximum Performance" mode. According to our needs, we would go for "maximum availability". I can go ahead and change, however I have questions in mind before making the change.

    1. do I need to change the protection on both primary & standby mode?
    2. do on DB primary change automatically the standby mode too?
    3. If the answer is NO to the 2nd question, I need to change the mode of protection to standby also? In the otherwise, primary and Standby will be run in two different modes.

    Please let us know of your entries.

    Thank you

  • Oracle 10g RAC + ASM + Data Guard: Question on the new disk group.

    Hello

    One of our clients is to have Oracle 10 g RAC + ASM + Data Guard. Database is the disk DATA_DG1 group and FRA is on FLASH_DG1. Data Guard is a single instance on ASM.

    To add more space, we can create another disc of the Group DATA_DG2 on Prod ASM and Data Guard ASM env, replication continues without any problem. Will be archiving logs shipped to the second disk DATA_DG2 group and applied without any configuration changes?

    Rgds,

    Yes, it sounds great.

    You should be fine with the implementation of these measures and the dataguard should continue on as usual.

    Just make sure that you are dealing with a physical standby that has not the conerts file name defined.

  • Data Guard CARS

    Hello
    is there a special configuration or guidelines to the configuration data guard on an Oracle cluster database, or as the only forum?
    Thank you very much

    Hello

    Do you want to say that each instance on a cluster to own his own spfile, and I need to change each separately spfile to redo waiting for shipment?

    All cluster database instances must use the same shared spfile... You can also change the spfile... you will have to update using the command:
    alter system set parametername = value scope = spfile sid = InstanceName

    My second question is that each instance generates its own recovery logs to archive, so should not be that database waiting to be ordered into clusters, no? It will applied logs coming recovery for any instance of cluster, is that correct? even if it's only one not clustered instance Eve...

    You can have a single instance watch and all the newspapers all primary levels will apply to it...

  • Data Guard - allocation of licenses and other fundamental questions before setting it up.

    Hi all

    Please allow me to submit some questions about Oracle Data Guard.

    There are 2 databases 'authorized and ready ':

    -a single instance of the "alfa", Oracle Enterprise Edition 10.2 database,

    -"bravo", Oracle 10.2 Enterprise Edition, Real Application Clusters database

    I have to "align" congratulations to alfa on a daily basis, so that--in case of failure of the main 'alfa' site - recovery is possible change to the site "bravo."

    (1) even if we can afford a loss of data corresponding to the period little uttered at the end of the last daily alignment (no need to 'transactional' alignment between the two databases), I assume that the best approach to meet this need in terms of efficiency and manageability consists on two databases including in a Data Guard configuration.

    Am I wrong?

    (2) in particular, the physical implementation of the standby database must be preferred over logic, because that "simpler and faster" in this case. Am I wrong?

    (3) only the Data Guard configuration require

    (a) additional licenses?

    (b) additional material/software resources for host machines?

    (5) the release of two databases must be equal to the specific to the component version number (10.2.0.1, for example)? Or, for example, is a 10.2.0.1 able to work with a 10.2.0.3 db db in the Data Guard configuration?

    Thank you very much in advance!

    You have reason, physical hosting it good thing. For the most part, you will get impact with until or unless data loss because of some problems of network (or a configuration problem)

    (2) in particular, the physical implementation of the standby database must be preferred over logic, because that "simpler and faster" in this case. Am I wrong?

    Logical standby is a little different from the physical standby mode

    (3) only the Data Guard configuration require

    (a) additional licenses?

    (b) additional material/software resources for host machines?

    Data features come with Enterprise Edition - perhaps for the active database "cost of the additional license.

    Good level to maintain the same level of oracle binaries / patches and still the support of heterogeneous DG

  • Data Guard - RMAN removing archive log

    Hello

    I ' v DataGuard with physical standby.

    I do a backup only on the primaries. Both sites have ther separate backup systems.

    I ' v FRA and configured archivelog deletion with RMAN configuration:

    on primary: CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO NONE;

    standby: CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY to APPLY ON STANDBY;

    It works fine but I think what if scenarios and I'v qestion on best practices for backup after the transition of role management. Let's say that for some reason, as i'v in switch mode sleep for a few days and the backup will be posible to watch (now primary) database. What would be the steps/reconfiguration appropriate to do?

    1 should I reconfigure RMAN?

    change of new primary to: CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO NONE;

    change back to sleep again: CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY to APPLY ON STANDBY;

    2. make full backup

    Hello

    1. you can refer to the oracle documentation: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/backup.111/b28270/rcmconfb.htm#CHDCFHBG

    section: "all archived Redo Log deletion policy."

    Document provides the best algorithm to analysis of work

    You can use the CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY BACKED UP integer TIMES TO DEVICE TYPE command to allow a policy of removal of archived newspaper. This configuration specifies that archived newspapers are eligible for deletion only when the specified number of archived log backups exist on the specified device type.

    If the deletion policy is configured with the BACKED UP integer TIMES clause, then a BACKUP ARCHIVELOG , the command copy newspapers, unless integer already exist on the specified device type backups. If integer are backups of logs, then the BACKUP ARCHIVELOG command ignores the newspapers. In this way, the deletion of archived newspaper policy works as a default NOT BACKED UP integer TIMES clause on the BACKUP ARCHIVELOG command. Note that you can override the deletion policy by specifying the FORCE option on the BACKUP command.

    The deletion of archived newspaper policy has also options specific to an environment Data Guard. , then RMAN can delete logs after they have been applied to all destinations remote mandatory. If you specify SHIPPED TO STANDBY , for example, then RMAN can remove log files when they were transferred to all destinations of mandatory relief.

    2. the paper provides good information, just to check and decide easily based on the functionality of the database role you can configure.

    It will be useful.
