I found out it is all a most difficult part to replace, many retailers ebay offering parts that claim to be compatible, but when buying, I found to have cords that don't fit in the socket on my laptop. The HP parts store tells me that brick replacement AC #574638-001 is no longer available and pointing me to a functional equivalent, #693716-001, but there is no card included to confirm that I will buy the right part. I'm ready to bite the bullet and pay the $140USD, but only if I can be sure I won't be disappointed when another part does not. Any advice about whether this is indeed the right part, a part can come are very much appreciated.

  After changing my AC power (the old one didn't work anymore) I have problems with the battery charging circuit.
  When the adapter is plugged in and the laptop is turned off, it charges the battery OK.

  If I turn it on it will charge the battery until it is fully charged, the light will be then turns blue for a few seconds and then turns off.
  The battery will then race down until it is completely empty, even if the power adapter is showing as connected.
  Once the battery is fully discharged cell breaks down. Once off, it will start to load again.

  Yes.  There are several alternatives.  I found a way relatively inexpensive, using a map of mSATA (very small SSD) and an adapter to connect it to the connector IDE 44 pin internal of my PowerBook.  It works very well.  Rather than repeat what I posted previously, you can watch these two topics (which also has good info, other users)

• HP a1250n, radeon xpress 200 question after replacing the CPU, Standard VGA Graphics goes not down

  Recently, I messed up my CPU and bought a replacement (exact same kind). I am running windows 7 ultimate and for about 6 months prerequisites with no problems. After replacing the CPU I get intermittent lock ups, sometimes with a small portion of the screen flashes. I say intermittent but at least every 15-20 minutes. Different programs, different habits, but still the screen freezes.

  I went in and deleted the driver under graphics cards, pick a 'completely remove the option' - it after restarting the system on its own charged for a Standard VGA Graphics Adapter and since there is then no more accidents. Of course the functionality is not as complete, large icons and such, but it works.

  If it certainly seems to point to a driver conflict I think. But for this machine, is there ever any single Vista Windows 7 driver. My skills are not so, but I'm moving.

  My Toshiba Satellite A210 - 1 4 seems to have a CMOS battery problem because it does not keep the BIOS settings.

  As I know some batteries are fixed/soldered to the motherboard and t is no substitute, but I think that only a laptop computer technician can give you a detailed response.

  Normally, you can load the CMOS battery if you leave the AC adapter plugged in overnight or in the best case 24 hours. After this, the battery must be fully charged.
