Replacement of modem satellite A10

Hey, does anyone know what modem I'm supposed to get for my satelite a10 laptop PC series, it's totally broken not sure on what it is I need a card, as you can see I don't much about computers! Hey, I bought my laptop in New Zealand, now back in the United Kingdom do I need different drivers, can I install modem myself or I will have to look somewhere?

Hello

I agree with Flo
Replacement of the modem is not very easy because this part is placed under the keyboard and you must open Notepad and remove the parts in the correct order.
As suggested by Flo, please contact for more details. You can also order the internal modem of Toshiba service partner

Good bye

    Thanks in advance

    Hello Jim

There is no public document with precise description. I put t know how old is your device, but please be careful with the guarantee.

In any case if you want to swap the keyboard, you must remove the plastic part on the back of the keyboard. Be careful, how you do it. If the plastic part is removed, you can see the screw that the difficulty of the keyboard. Removing the work is already done. The last thing is to disconnect the keyboard.

As I said to be careful and I hope that you will not damage a few other components.

    Good luck!

  • Error A10 AMR Modem satellite

    Hello
I use a laptop Toshiba Satellite A10. I came across a problem a few days back when I tried to connect to the internet through modem dialup.

Modem has dialed the number, but after checking the user name and password, there was an error describing "cannot connect because a on your system design no function" under the title of "the network protocol configuration error '.

Could someone guide me how can I fix these settings?

    Kind regards

    Faiza

If I were you I would try following:

Remove the connection distance of your network connections and remove your modem from the hardware Manager. Then restart your operating system and let windows reinstall the modem device.

Create a connection by modem to the modem installed fresh and that's it.

Please give some feedback if it didn t work.

    Welcome them

  • Replacement battery for Satellite Pro A10

    Hello
I'm trying to find a replacement battery for Satellite Pro A10, PA3284U-1BRS, 10.8 v original battery, 3600 MAH. A couple of merchants said that it is no longer available and has been replaced by PA3285U-1BRS, the amperage is a little higher at 4400 MAH, but declared voltage is now 11.1 VOLTS. Is this normal, or are they trying to just me to pawn off the coast with something that is really not compatible with the specifications of the original part. I can't find the part for the moment available on the Toshiba site, seems to have been the only way to get a true replacement who would be sure to adapt. Battery wizards there know what would actually?

    Thank you.

    Hello

As far as I know, that you can also use this battery.
Battery (Li - ion, 6 cell, 4400mAh) part number: PA3285U-2BRS

No dial tone error 680. Satellite A10 running Windows XP SP2.
    Interviewed modem-It's ok.
Check wait for the tone. still not connect.
Have tried different telephone cable, ISP, reinstall the drivers, control of the region (UK).
Check the malware, corruption of the registry. Nothing there.
Reinstalled from the Toshiba restore CD. Still the same problem.
The BONES of config system permit
    Check for driver updates. None.

Manage devices only show and COM ports if Port Modem Properties settings show that it is at COM3. have tried to change to COM4 - makes no difference.

    What is the solution?

    Hello

This error almost always occurs because the computer cannot hear regular ringing when it picks up the phone line to dial through the modem.
Unfortunately, there is no standard solution for this problem.
Did you check that the modem is plugged into a phone point in the wall?

  • Re: Satellite A10-S100 - how to replace the keyboard?

I need to replace the card key of my Satellite A10-S100.

What are the steps I should follow? I have to unscrew all the screws in the back?

    Hi mate,

You never exchanged a keyboard or any other part of the equipment of a laptop? Well, maybe you should ask a technician for laptop help

I m not Satellite A10 owner but normally you remove the keyboard first (between the keyboard and display) bracket. Under the keyboard support, you will find a few screw now the keyboard. Remove them and then you can lift the keyboard but be Ume with the cable on the underside of the keyboard.

    Good luck! :)

  • COM/LPT ports on Satellite A10 lost and can't use the modem

My Satellite A10 lost ports, and I can't use my modem.
    What can I do?

    Hello

I think you should remove the modem from Device Manager. Restart the machine and the operating system should recognize the modem again. Then you can reinstall the modem driver.
All this should be done automatically and you need t to add all ports.
The properties must be enabled if you have administrator rights.

    Thanks and good luck

    Hello

I guess that your laptop supports the IDE HDD controller.
Eventually the media controller IDE HDD only 28 bit LBA which allows you to use max 120 GB HDD.

I think you could install a larger HARD drive.

  • satellite A10: no com3 don't dailtone

We have a toshiba satellite A10 with a modem internal toshiba. (XP OPERATING SYSTEM)
We lost the connection while working, and when we tried to reconnect there was no dial tone.

the modem works fine after interrogation he under the modem diagnostics, but just to be safe, I also tried another card modem with the same results.
the line is very good, I use it now.
in Device Manager, I could not see an entry for the ports, so I did a scan of hardware, but which does nothing and then I added a Compote via the Add Hardware icon in Control Panel. This solves the problem I couldn't see the ports in the Device Manager but now the thus created com3 has a yellow exclamation point and tells me that the device cannot start code 10.

So I deleted all the devices of yellow exclamation point and the modem, then restarted and after that the modem is immediately recognized and installed but her agrees not and they must be added manually with the same result of yellow exclamation point.

Some people suggest I get into the bios and remove or disable the ports and then start but bios does not even an entry for the ports. I get into the bios by keeping ESC pressed to the commissioning and in fact Toshiba adds a nice button on the control panel with HWsetup that gives the same options.

so now, I ran out of options and turn to experts for help.

    Thanks, Leo

    Hello

Code 10 means that this device cannot start. I'm a little confused about your problem. First COM 3 is a virtual port and it is normal that this port is invisible. If this port is visible, it must be with exclamation yellow because it's the virtual port, no real hardware. But it is not necessary be installed with the Add Hardware Wizard.

Your problem can be caused by many things.

    1. delete all entries with yellow exclamations. Search for hardware changes again. Now new modem is installed, and my opinion is that should now work correctly. But remember: you must make the new dial-up network connection and old must be deleted. It is very important because the old a lot of content of information settings that installed new Modem cannot use more. Also check the properties of your modem.

    2. after the installation of your modem card, there may be some conflicts with Modem from Toshiba. If you do not use the modem card all maybe more, is useful to delete all installed software.

    3. it is also possible that you have some dialer installed on your machine. Check it!

If that doesn t work, please let us know. And if you create your connection again, tell us what a problem was.

  • Satellite A10 - how to get the new job of CPU?

    Hi all

    Cut long story short:

I own a Toshiba Satellite A10 former model Celeron 1.8 Ghz processor, running Windows XP SP3.

Just bought a 2.5 Ghz Celeron processor SL75T, verified even FSB, same PIN, compared to the current 1.8 Ghz via Ebay.

Do you have a swap and replace the 1.8 Ghz with the last 2.5 Ghz, the laptop is able to start, but it just hangs before entered into normal windows.

I tried safe mode, it went smooth, however intermittently crashes, too, but unless I could enter and change some settings.

Initially thought it was the power of thermal design of the 24.5W old abreast 35W. Although without any solid evidence to me i.e. get made reliable on temperature processor 3rd party software (coz the 3rd party software cannot run in safe mode environment), the fan is still running strong, just changed new fan not too long.

My hunch is that, when I was in Safe Mode Windows, I could see that in the list of the hardware in the Device Manager, the processor is still showing old clocked at 1.8 Ghz and not the latest 2.5 Ghz? However, when I right click on my computer and select Properties ==> system properties, it is show 2.49 Ghz-very good, just not inside the hardware of the Device Manager list. I tried to uninstall, but it still does not work after that several reboot.

I don't think that there is no driver for the change of processor, what should I do to avoid this 2.5 Ghz to hang up every time before, it tries to go in normal windows? I think that this should be an operating system problem I right? (not sure) Please enlighten. Thank you!!

    Hello

in my opinion, your motherboard is not strong enough to continue to run this processor and any 2.5 Ghz Celeron processor SL75T has the same FSB and the stem.
