Replacing the motherboard on a Satellite A series

In Europe all the products must be sold with a 2 year warranty!

But Toshiba found a way around that, then people just get a 1 year warranty.
I'm really angry about this.

My mother crashed today and I have to pay $500 for it. I even suspect that the motherboard is not completely damaged, but only a part of.

But for Toshiba, it's much easier to just change all of that and allow the customer to pay!

No Toshiba more for me, ever!

Hey Buddy

First of all I must say that it is always regrettable, if some of the material begins to hurt work.
Secondly, I must say that you're completely wrong, and it seems that you have no idea what you're talking about.
Why I find so difficult words for you? Because Toshiba laptops are covered by warranty for 2 years if the laptop was recorded on the Toshiba page!

> I suspect even that the motherboard is not completely damaged, but only a part of.
Are you serious?
You cannot replace JUST a defective part of the motherboard!
If the motherboard is dead must be replaced and must be replaced the WHOLE motherboard.

In general, I would say that all THE devices that is high-tech. laptops, computers, TVs, camcorders are covered by warranty for 2 years and it? s just a bad luck if the material would die after the warranty expires.

I have two different Toshiba laptops and I never had serious problems of motherboard.
But my first notebook was NOT a model of Toshiba and he died after 1.5 years of use. So finally, I must say that Toshiba isn't bad.

I wish you good luck with other devices...

    Hello

I want to replace and upgrade my hard drive internal sata, what is the maximum size that I can install which will fortunately be recognized by BIOS / chipset?

    Hello

SATA controller isn't limited to a specific size of the HARD drive.
Generally, you can use 2.5 SATA HDD support any size (250 GB, 500 GB, etc.)

But have you considered using a SSD drive? I prefer SSD drive, even if these discs are more expensive. The performance is much better and believe me; the performance gain will be noticeable.

    Hello

How old is your machine? If you still have your warranty, so why not give your machine to a local service partner?

So if you don t give something on your guarantee you can trade your coins. But to look for the pieces on google and you won´t get any help from toshiba (e.g. manual disassembly or something similar).

I tried long before your request and I made my experience that if you want to open your machine your completely on your own.

I don't know where you want to get the new motherboard, but if you want to buy it by some authorized service they should now what they offer.

I don't know if anyone here has the same machine and can help you with this. What you can try is to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider in your country and ask for help.

  • Want to 800-060: reactivation after replacing the motherboard

I bought a HP Envy 800-060 with Windows 8 pre - install Amazon in July of 2013. It was an incredible computer since that time, and when the free update of Windows 8 for Windows 10, I did immediately released. Recently, however, the motherboard has failed on the computer. It would not stay same POSITION, and after much troubleshooting, I finally decided to replace the motherboard. Now that the computer is running again, I guess that the motherboard change was sufficient for the operating system to think that it is no longer enabled. I was never provided with a key of Activation of OS (Win8 has been pre-installed), and Microsoft has suggested that I contact HP to find the original key. I've looked everywhere on the chassis and inside the tower for a valid Windows activation key, nothing helps. I tried to find a phone number to call for support, but my product is outside the guarantee. I don't need advice or troubleshooting tips (so I don't pay the $59.99), all I need is my activation key valid Windows based on my serial number of the product. Anyone know the best way to achieve HP with this problem and have it is resolved?

    Thanks in advance!

The unfortunate, is that your original product key has been incorporated in the firmware original by HP motherboard UEFI when the PC was built.  There is no way to recover this key now.

HP retains no record of keys to individualized product corresponding to individual computers, so they won't be able to provide you with the original key - and they are under no obligation to provide you with a SECOND key, that you didn't do the replacement of HP hardware.

With the product now being out of warranty, it's really call HP or not you upload support - and the experience I have had with older equipment-, they do that, there's just no way around IDs.

HP customer support is really the only way you have to get support.  If they don't help you for free, because your PC is out of warranty, there is nothing we can do about it on this forum.

  • a610n - fan error of the system after replacing the motherboard

    Hi all

I just replaced the motherboard on my system (phone http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware/M2N68-LA-Narra-2-Replacement/td-p/3711774) and now I get this error when starting: Fan failure system, PC service to avoid any damage. I thought it was the CPU fan but he was running and after some research, I realized that he could talk a case fan.

As a side note, the motherboard, I had was a little different and missing 2 connections that seem to be the front mic/headphone and USB ports.

Now, the case's fan then what really is the problem? Any ideas anyone?

    Thank you

    -Panos

The rev3.02 of M2N68 - THE Committee a case fan rear 3 poles. See here.

The CPU fan is a 4 pin cable and attaches to the appropriate header to 4 pins on the motherboard. See the representative schema above.

As for you, another question, the front USB port attaches to a USB connector on the card.

  • Qosmio F10: RAM upgrade issue after replacing the motherboard

In 2006, when my F10 - 128 fell down as a fault of the video card, Toshiba has replaced the motherboard (865 PM) of my F10 by a new one with the video card installed in Go 6600.
When I came back, I noticed that the same RAM modules have been installed (2 x 512 MB DDR 333 Mhz) as I previous had on the old motherboard.

Then, I assumed that I could easily upgrade to DDR2 RAM, I realized that this type of RAM supported by the new motherboard installed (915 PM?). But the modules DDR2 Ram (Kingston 1 GB SODIMM (KVR533D2S4 - 1 G) 533 MHz) that I ordered is simply not in the storage media... The notch in the module is placed differently that the modules of RAM DDR.

If the jury has been replaced by a newer version, with the video card Go 6600 (PCIexpress), how is, I have a Council that can not support DDR2?

Here, I am really confused. Someone at - it advice please?

    > If the jury has been replaced by a newer version, with the video card Go 6600 (PCIexpress), how is, I have a Council that can not support DDR2?
I think the jury is still supported DDR2 memory modules, but the allocation of the memory pins could be different.

You should contact the ASP in your country and ask for the compatible modules.

  • Qosmio F10 recover after replacing the motherboard

    Hello

I'm having a problem with my Qosmio F10 recovery. It won't boot from the CD, I get a message "media test check the cable failure".
I tried everything I could find here on this issue without any results. Then I read somewhere on this forum that this recovery cd would not work if the laptop has been repaired and has a new motherboard. This is excatly the case.

I got a new motherboard and CD/DVD player put some time ago.
How can I make it work again?

    A.

    > Then I read somewhere on this forum that this recovery cd would not work if the laptop has been repaired and has a new motherboard. This is exactly the case.

Who replaced the motherboard? THE ASP?

Well, usually the recovery CD should work after the replacement of the motherboard.
I presume that the parts have been replaced with exactly the same parts and so it should t be a conflict between the recovery and the new motherboard CD.

Have you tried to boot from another bootable Win XP or Linux CD? Check it!

What is your advice? Can I replace the motherboard? Is it a long way? Or is it better to find another laptop?

According to my notes, 63y1545 is a T510 Board with integrated graphics (Intel). The other 2 boards are W510 boards. They are all the same size and shape, but W510 boards have 4 memory slots and use a different cooling fan. The W510 is a nice machine and worth it if you can get a good price on a Board and fan of fixing. Basic coverage is also different machines 'W', but I don't know if it's important or one you have now.

  • How to re-enable Windows 7 after replacing the motherboard.

I managed to replace the motherboard in an Acer Aspire v3 and all is well (or almost).

Only problem is that Windows 7 requires now that I'm using an illegal copy of Windows.

I know that the reason is that the version of Windows OEM is selected with the original motherboard.

I talked to both supports of Microsoft and Acer support several times but neither can or reactivates my windows. Is it really to do I have to pay for a new product key as a consequence of a repair?

    Hello

That said, that the next question is if I can solve the problem by buying a new product key?

Yes, look at this response from Microsoft.
