Repository of grid control

How to find what database is to have the repository of the grid control?
I have a SAFLO1 server on which there are about 20 cases of database running.
I know the Home Agent, but not able to find the repository database.

Look for the file:
$OMS_HOME\sysman\config\emoms.properties

Where you can find this line:

oracle.sysman.eml.mntr.emdRepConnectDescriptor=(DESCRIPTION\=(ADDRESS_LIST\=(ADDRESS\=(PROTOCOL\=TCP)(HOST\=hostconnect)(PORT\=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA\=(SID\=SID)))

SID = name of your database from the Rep.

Im sure it is a better way to do it, maybe not. :)

The requirement is due to the EM dependency on partitioning, which is an option of EE.

  • Upgrading repository database for the grid control 10205

    Hello

I have the following problem: we took the grid control 10205. It was an upgrade of 10203. By default, it runs a repository 10104. Now I have to spend this repository to 10205 version too. I need to do because this grid control runs on ELinux 4 and we want to improve this ELinux 5 machine, but in the database of ELinix 5 10105 Certification Matrix only is not supported.

    Now my question:

To perform this upgrade, I've read that I must first install Database 10205 Software in a separate House and then upgrade the database with the repository. CMS and the repository database are installed in separate houses. Are these references in OMS to host the repository? What should I do after I upgraded the database repository?

Unfortunately I'm not able to find something about this in the Documentation. Everyone speaks of upgrade of WHO and almost nothing on the database repository.

I'd appreciate a lot of the advice.

Main difference (new features) between Oracle 11g and 12 c OEM

Cloud control is the next version of Enterprise Manager and has the same features and functionality in the grid, as well as control of new things (such as the management of the clouds). For more details on new features,.

    See: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/cloud-mgmt-496758.html?ssSourceSiteId=ocomen

    To the Documentaion 12 c:

You need to control software for cloud 12 c OEM, software database (for creating repository) and software agent (for tracking targets on other hosts)

Java Development Kit (JDK) 1.6.0.43.0 and Oracle WebLogic Server 11 g Release 1 (10.3.6) are installed by default with the installation of SGD 12 c, even if you have a possibility to install it separately if you want, but Oracle strongly recommends using the installation process of 12 c to install the JDK and Oracle WebLogic Server for use with Enterprise Manager 12 c.

  • Retention policy for the grid control

    Hello

One of our clients wants to change the retention policy of the Grid control to 2 years in order to check the statistics of the application of these last 2 years,

Default purge policy is as follows:

    Raw metrics - 7 days

An hour aggregate metrics data - 31 days

A day aggregate metrics data - 365 days

Having someone of you will never change these default policies to a great values?

    I'm afraid of performance issues

Depends on what policy they want change, but I n ' tthink this will help you at all.  If they are looking for AWR data, it is not stored in MS, unless you configure CWA warehouse.   EM will be measures such as SQL response time, but it does not store the SQL query and the stats you'd see in an AWR report.   Storing so for 2 years will not help.  If you want just generic performance history, then changing strategies of purge will be fine, but you don't want to store the raw data for 2 years. Keep in mind that you will increase the size of your repository database as well.

  • How to use the OEM grid control to find databases, not in archivelog mode?

    Hello

We have currently 130 databases, say, if I want to come off as any database currently NOT in archivelog mode, is there a quick way to find out?

    using the OEM grid control

    or

    a similar trick,

but really do not need to manually check each database.

    Thank you very much!

This query works in 12 c - please run as SYSMAN.
It is based on undocumented assumptions well + (AND key_value = "NOARCHIVELOG") +.

      SELECT *
      FROM SYSMAN.MGMT$GROUP_DERIVED_MEMBERSHIPS O ,
        SYSMAN.MGMT$TARGET T ,

      AND t.target_guid = st.target_guid
      AND st.availability_status = 'Target Up'
      AND ( EXISTS
        (SELECT *
        FROM sysman.mgmt$metric_current i
        WHERE I.TARGET_GUID = O.MEMBER_TARGET_GUID
        AND metric_name = 'archFull'
        AND Metric_Column = 'archTotal'

Another way to achieve the goal is to push the extended parameters (SELECT LOG_MODE FROM V$ DATABASE) on each DB and monitor the values they return to the repository. It is supported to run agentDownload.vbs in upgrade mode by specifying the NEW grid control?

NEW 11.1.0.1 on Linux x 64 Grid control
Oracle 10.2.0.5 database TARGET. Standard running on Windows 2003 x 86

    Hi Julian,.

You cannot run this mentioned during the upgrade. But after upgrade, you can point a WHO to another agent using the following document:

How to point an Agent to a different grid WHO control and a repository? (Doc ID 413228.1)

NOTE: Please note that this procedure is valid only for the agents of 10 GB & 11g. This procedure is not valid in 12 c.

  • Change of control of the database grid control

Client ask us to change the grid control to the control of the database.
The database is located in the windows 2003 server system.
    1. stop the ORACLE agent service;
    2. order entry "emctl start dbconsole", it pops up the message "the service name is invalid.
    3. I try to recreate the dbconsole.
EMCA - deconfig dbcontrol db-rest drop
then we stock in the fall of the EM.

    Could help them about this?

Yes, you can always go back to the old situation of:
    Drop the dbcontrol repository
Start the agent, if it is not already running
Add the (GC) database or use the agent: directory AGENT_HOME run agentca d

Your not to go to dbcontrol would be:
    Remove the target GC
Stop the agent on the server and remove the agent in GC, disable the agent service. Steps if you do not have ' t have any other DB on the server to be monitored by GC

EMCA - config dbcontrol db-rest create if necessary deposit everything first: emca - deconfig dbcontrol db-rest drop

    emctl start dbconsole

You may need a patch for dbcontrole according to the db version you are using:

  • installation of Oracle 11 g grid control

Can I install base data, weblogic and repository grid control in a single server, right? Based on the doc for oracle grid control, it seems good. Please notify.
    Thank you

    Hello

    Which option is the best?

If you have a CMS and repository in different servers, you can have a more scalable configuration. More, you can also install several WHO (on multiple servers - 1 SGD per host) as shown in this overview:

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11857_01/install.111/e15838/overview.htm#CJAHHFEA

Of course, this type of architecture is more powerful and allow you to give more resources (CPU, memory) to EM Grid control. If you have hundreds of targets to monitors and dozens of users who can connect and use EM grid control, it may be useful to use this feature ( load balancing, several WHO,...):

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11857_01/install.111/e16847/install_addln_oms_slnt.htm#BABBGGAH

However, if you have just a few tens of targets and a few users who may connect occasionally to the EM grid control, you can also install all {repository + WHO} on the same server.

Anyway, in all cases, you must take into account related Harware requirements:

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11857_01/install.111/e15838/appdx_hardware_reqs.htm#CACJBDGF

And also, it is important to know the Port number used by any component to communicate with each other:

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11857_01/install.111/e16847/firewalls.htm#i1005951

    Hope this helps.

  • I can't install OEM Grid control on the client computer?

    Hello
I have two instances of database (11g). I would like to install Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control they manage. Can I install OEM Grid Control on the client machine, or just on the server, where are instances of database?

    Thanks awfully for help.
    Concerning

    Hello

You can install OEM Grid control on a separate server.

But remember that for OEM grid control, you need a database in the repository. This repository can be on the server used for the OMS (Oracle Management Service) or on a separate server:

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11857_01/install.111/e15838/overview.htm#CJAHHFEA

In any case, it must be aware that Oracle, Oracle Management Service and the repository Agent must be able to communicate with each other and to use specific Ports.

So be sure that these Ports are open and free to use.

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11857_01/install.111/e16847/firewalls.htm#i1005951

    Hello
to check if the WHO is running correctly run the command "emctl status who" ($OMS_HOME/bin).
The result should be 'Oracle Management Server is up'.

To check what components are running, run "opmnctl" order status ($OMS_HOME/opmn/bin).
The result should be something like:
