Responsive CSS does not work / media question mobile devices

Hello

I am so that when a user views the site in a less than 979 pixels wide screen, some CSS is used.

The application of media I use is:

@media screen and (max-width: 979px) {}

/ * styles go here * /.

}

who works on my good browser, but not in iPhone/mobile devices (I have not checked in the ipad).

I read somewhere that max-width: 979px means anything 979px or less...

Although clearly a phone iphone would beless 979px, it's max-width is certainly not 979px.

Should what media query I use here instead?

Do I need to have a lot of different queries?

Here is the live Webcam page: http://tinyurl.com/CSS3devicewidth

Thanks for any help, that all the world can offer,

Katrina

(I read a lot of guides online but became very confused. I hope that there may be a single query that will address all screens less of 979px, whether they are desktop or mobile device... maybe that's not possible)

Katrina, you have 99.99% correct.

One important thing that you have missed out on adding to your HTML markup is a meta tag that tells the device to load the content to 1.0 (100%) depending on the size of his device.

Add this to your HTML markup (insidesection):

So, here!

On a sidenote, you can put the CSS @media in a .css file and a link to the CSS file instead of load in line with your HTML file.

Good luck

  • Add the page button in PDF format does not work on the mobile device

    I created a button in my form that generates a new page. This new page has been defined as a model (Named 'New Page') and hidden (page 2). My button is on page 1 and uses a command script to execute a JavaScript script (on the mouse down) what follows is this script:

    var a = this.getTemplate ('new Page');

    a.Spawn ();

    Now, it works fine on my desktop. However, my problem is, I sent this form to myself, so I could fill it out on my phone. All of the s form other functions working perfectly, except the button to generate a page does not work. I am currently using an Android and view the PDF file on the application Acrobat from Adobe.

    Thank you

    Kyle

    I'm not aware of any mobile-based PDF Viewer that supports this method. Mobile versions of Adobe Reader supports a very limited subset of what support versions of office.

  • Keyboard and numeric keypad does not work (Microsoft Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard 6000)

    I have no problem 'successfully' matching the two devices.

    According to the Association, only one paired device provides actually entered in the computer.
    Learn type / using the volume keys on the keyboard works; the numeric keypad does not work
    OR by tapping the keypad works but the keyboard does not work.
    Sometimes the first device remains "locked", sometimes the second devices seem to start the first.
    What gives?
    I have had this problem since I bought the unit in mid-2010.  I quit trying to solve the problem so far because I now have a need for the numeric keypad.
    I am running Windows Vista Basic Home Edition on a Dell Inspiron 530.
    I use no other Bluetooth devices.
    My mouse is wireless (non-Bluetooth).
    My LAN is wireless (non-Bluetooth).
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello

    Thanks for the reply.

    I suggest you to follow a few troubleshooting steps more and check if this helps you fix the problem on your computer.

    Method:

    You can try to check on another user account and see if the problem still persists.

  • Bluetooth headset does not work with Windows 7 - device is detected.

    I have a Dell XPS 1530, which had Vista 32 bit running. I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate. Ever after that the Bluetooth of DELL BH 200 headset does not work with my laptop.

    The bluetooth adapter and the device is fine since I'm able to search and find all bluetooth devices, including my helmet. However, I get a yellow exclamation on the headset under devices. The headset can be paired with other devices such as my mobile and works very well.

    I tried to update the drivers and reinstall the device and the adapter from the Device Manager. We have a similar setup on my brother's computer and it works fine.

    Another thing to watch, would be what battery is used.  I know from personal exp some devices work with Toshiba stack, vs the MSFT pile up.  Do a search and see if anyone else uses a different battery with these devices. • App does not work on the physical device

    Hi, I just got word that my first submitted application does not work on any device - but gave the following error message:

    "An error occurred when starting (AppName). The application has ended."

    I tested my application and it worked perfectly for me on several simulators. I read a few similar posts on this forum, and I wonder if the problem is with code signing. So my question is this: do I have to sign my application again before each release, or that I only don't sign only once when, at the beginning?  Or the problem is maybe something else altogether?

    Thomas.

    Agree with RexDoug.

    Your messge gives however to think that you do some long processingon the thread of events, for example, connect to a server as part of the start of the process and block the user interface until you get an answer.  This kind of thing is not in the Simulator, perhaps because it works in LAN connection speeds, so that blockages are still small.

  • HTML &amp; CSS does not work in the iphone browser

    My website looks fine in safari and firefox, but when I watch the divs on an iphone/ipad, etc get cut and does not develop the full screen.

    Also when I do a browser compatibility test I get the error code "any content that does not fit into an area of fixed-width or - height causes the box will expand to fit the content rather than letting the overflow of content."

    Someone at - it suggestions?

    Help!

    It is not admissible.  It is not optimized to work well in anything other than a desktop display.  iPhones and iPads to use their built-in zoom function to make a regular site 'fit' in the display area that works well most of the time.  But this is not optimal.  The only way to make your site works well in all devices to be rebuilt with a Responsive Web Design approach.

  • Hello. Coding CSS does not work with v16. The site is something I coded myself. He managed the validation of HTML and CSS. Cleared cookies &amp; restored to ltvds back.

    The code works in all other browsers.

    I appreciate all the work you are already doing and any help looking for a solution to this problem.

    Thank you.

    Firefox does not load the CSS (CSS/style. CSS)

    The character encoding of the plain text document has not been declared. The document will be made with text truncated in some browser configurations if the document contains characters from the US-ASCII range. The character encoding of the file must be declared in the transfer protocol or file needs to use a byte as a signature of coding order mark. @ http://www.shelflifemagazine.com/css/style.css

    Try to remove the attribute type for the CSS file.

    You have:

    <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/style.css" type="type/css"/>

    Use it instead:

    <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/style.css" />

  • Does not display the images and CSS does not work generated WebHelp

    Hi all

    I have two issues which I believe are related. It miss me probably a simple step somewhere, since I can't find this issue covered in the forum or help.

    We have just upgraded to RH7 to RH9. When I build a project to test, the CSS was fate not (it was connected properly in the topics of the project, but he was not released when the WebHelp has been generated). Trying to open the CSS file directly led to a 404 error.

    I was able to solve that by checking the "Apply to all" button and selecting the CSS file we use (see image). However, none of our lists - ordered and unordered - are properly formatted. The font and size of numbered lists is incorrect, lists all nested lists display with numbers, even if they are not ordained and autonomous bulleted lists use evenly filled as circles dig balls, where previously they used the small squares, circles, or a picture of triangle. The CSS is called correctly in the subject, lists are formatted to use the styles and the styles are in the style sheet, so I do not know what causes this problem. So far, I have not noticed any other styles does not, but those are the ones that stand out.

    WebHelp Settings (CSS).png

    The other problem is with the images. This problem appears in both our WebHelp generated and in the printed documentation. The images are not output. In WebHelp, the text appears (typically the name of the file). in the printed documentation, nothing appears. (I checked all the printed documents that "embedded" is selected, but as far as I know, there isn't a similar function for the WebHelp).

    What Miss me? Thanks in advance for any help!

    Source code control is involved?

    So you can see the CSS in the project manager and it works very well in the design editor but does not every time that you build for. Can you just build or generate and publish? You use Windows Explorer to check the CSS in both places?

    How do you get a 404 error? This happens when you click on a link where the target does not exist. Normally you would use Windows Explorer to locate the CSS.

    Lists are a known problem on upgrade from 7. See the lists on my site.

    The images show in the project manager?

    Hi John

    IE10 even if he plays "catch up" on some features he surpassed all other browsers when it comes to typography, see - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2012/01/09/css-corner-using-the-whole-font.aspx

    hix77-

    You could get the same effect by using a transformation matrix of IE in IE8 and below, (but I would not recommend this). The other possibility is to use a transform of IE9 with the content property property (this property css insert text in the document) that way when you hover over the image that 'extra' text is inserted. But this is not a gradual slide in as the property of transition is needed for this.

    The other alternative is to use slide-in jQuery plugin.

    (I'll cause a disagreement now, then you have been warned!) -

    IE8 is now on a decline in its use for private users, so if you're not targeting companies or professional users, don't worry about this browser too. Also IE introduced an automatic upgrade of the browser in its system of regular updates, (auto updates) users not on XP will have the most recent version of Internet Explorer installed for their system, (currently in Australasia, other regions in the fall of this year).

    XP will be IE8, (using xp down at approximately 2% per month, currently 34 percent of the total, (Microsofts digits not mine)) Vista will be IE9, Windows 7/8 will be IE10, but illegal copies of windows are not these or other updates.

    I use Dw MX and I use it back after having been there for a while. There are a couple of keys made here that may be important. First of all, I imported this site from Frontpage 2002 (it has been done initially in Frontpage 2003). Secondly, I am under Dw MX on Ubuntu Linux using CrossOver.

    So it is possible that this may be a problem of Linux, but it's a 50-50 as far as I know. In short, nothing that to do with CSS seems to work. I can't redefine a style Html - nothing appears. I tried to do and attach an external style sheet to get a picture in the background, and nothing is displayed. BTW, I do these especially for a model, but regular pages seem to have this problem as well.

    I can not even a background picture is displayed using the Page Properties.

    I am quite experienced with web programs; I did something like that for 6 years now. But here, I am puzzled, even if it is possible something in fair DW on me because it's been awhile. Also, I installed the MX 6.1 update.

    I appreciate any assistance.

    Thank you, Frank B.

    Murray, have you noticed:

    It might be just stacking CSS rules at the top of the old rules of CSS, or even on top of
    HTML styles. It sounds like a code problem, not a problem of DW...

  • Phone plan does not load on my mobile device correctly... site Web is not automatically updated to the scale.

    So I just started with the Muse... Site office came out perfectly, but the mobile site (phone) does not expand the width of the phone... I used the width standard 380px for the phone, so there is a white bar on the right side of the screen where the 380px to stop. So I created the layout more than 500, now I have to scroll left and right to see the site.

    Each screen phones being different, how can you autosize for that matter or just to get the site to really focus in the mobile browser?  I implemented the same way as the office and there is no problem of centering with the desktop version.

    Thank you all!

    You can use the predefined standard size that covers most of the common formats of mobile screen.

    Smartphone screens are wider, if a visitor has a larger screen, and then the function of window in the Muse automatically adjusts the width of layout of phone to fit the available screen real estate.

    With a preset size if there is any space empty or bar, please check if any object is outside the page area or any setting empty.

    Thank you

    Sanjit
