  This post has nothing to do with the sound card, but with the network card.

  Problem is that your laptop can not find boot device. In the BIOS you can set boot priority settings and devices are together should be defined as device of first, second and so on bootable.

  If have Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Things seem fine but then it restarts. I'm starting to think that there may be a motherboard problem (I hope this isn't).

  I have two monitors connected to my computer. Both monitors sometimes show my desktop computer, other times the additional monitor receives no signal at all. (I have a KVM switch, so when I switch to my laptop, the monitor is receiving no signal starts works fine - until I have switch back to my desktop PC and then it gets no signal again).

  GRAPHICS - my graphics card fan was dead, so I replaced the graphics card and I still have the reboot problem. I have updated the drivers for my NVidia GeForce 210 graphics card.

  RAM - I had 4 x 1 GB DDR2 RAM chips installed and I replaced the 2 x 2 GB RAM DDR2 chips and I always feel the problem of restart.

  -MY MOTHER is a technology of Gigabyte P35 - S3 with Intel Core 2 Duo E6750. The graphical interface is PCI-Express.

  I checked my Windows updates and there has been no recent updates. I had not made further changes to the system until this problem.

  Any suggestions as to what I can look at next, or how I can solve the problem, would be greatly appreciated. It's working on a PC that can be reset at any time.

• Portege R500: XP - Vista Dual Boot

  After much struggling R500 I Dual Boot XP Vista works fine.

  I bought the R500 with Vista, but has found a use not very good for real.

  Microsoft has announced that you can go back to XP if you have licensed professional Vista - but Toshiba will still provide an installation CD.

  I decided to set up a dual boot with another license XPPro rather than do a reinstall. Many of my problems also apply to a straight reinstall XP.

  You must reduce the Vista partitions or data in order to create space for a new primary partition, and then start it from a XP disc to install it in the new partition.

  When you are installing XP, you will get a crash scren blue before arriving to screen the asking where you want to install because the XP CD does not one for hard disk sata driver, unless include you the operating system to include the correct driver, or use F6 to load the drivers you need.

  You need the drivers Intel Matrix - available on their website - here

  But beware: when installing XP you indicates a choice of your special controllers and you choose - there seems to be about 4 in the list. I didn't know which one to choose. Indeed the list scrolls and the one you want is 82801GBM SATA AHCI (mobile) which is near the bottom of the list. If you choose the wrong process ends with a crash Stop blue screen 0007B.

  With the right driver XP installs fine. When you restart Vista then seems to have disappeared (although there is not, and you can see the files of XP and Vista drive). The problem is that XP has replaced the Vista boot file you will need to repair Vista.

  How to solve this problem is to use a Vista boot CD, cross the first screen, select Repair, select command prompt and type at the command prompt:

  Bootrec.exe /fixMBR

  Bootrec.exe /fixBoot

  then exit and restart.

  then you need a utility to help you change the Vista boot record - I used EasyBCD (easily available on the web) failed with Acronis OS Loader.

  Another problem - I got a message "hal.dll lack" that stopped XP installation as well. It is because the number of partition in the file boot.ini, he built was wrong--for me the exact number was 3. XP with no stage Hat device I could enter Vista and use Notepad to edit the boot.ini file

  Once I had two starting systems, I could update XP and load the drivers of Toshiba. Once all Toshiba drivers had been installed in the system tree had no warning yellow and everything seems to work OK.

  Hello

  You want to replace the Vista operating system or do you want to use the two BONES?

  If you want to use both I would recommend installation of XP on the second partition NTFS.
  I m not 100% sure why the blue screen appears during installation of XP, but sometimes the installation of XP operating system was not possible because the XP OS CD did not contain the SP2.

  Therefore, it would be desirable to create CD of XP installation that includes SP2.
  This can be done using the software called nLite. Maybe it helps
