Restore controlfile from
Hi all
on 11.2.0.4 on Win 2008
I have to run this every morning in a batch file:
Restore controlfile from "C:\BACKUP\ORCL\CTL_ORCL_20140715_4_1"
The problem is that the name of the file baclup (CTL_ORCL_20140715_4_1) is not the same. So how do you tell RMAN to restore from a generic name like C:\BACKUP\ORCL\CTL_ORCL*?
Any solution?
Thank you.
Thank you for your attention.
The database to create would then be on another server, but with the same database name:
Can duplicate us with the same name?
We want to be able to switch to the new database from the original crash.
Kind regards.

Missing files in the command "copy list" once restored controlfile
Hello
Perform the restore/recovery exercise (11 GR 2 on ASM), I did the following:
1 / the DB running, "copy list" in RMAN (to retrieve a list of my backups).
2 / done one the judgment then went to AMSCMD and deleted all the files in data/ctlfile/spfile manually
(wanted to test a complete restoration with nothing but archives and backups),.
3 / managed to restore my spfile with ' restore spfile to ' + DATA...» »,
4 / then could "startup mount" my DB and restore controlfile with
«Restore controlfile from «+ FRA/DBNAME/BACKUPSET/2014_01_29/ncnnn...»» » ; »
5 / then I "copy list" once again
and here, I saw 3 files were missing (so I started to meet a lot of problems
so we can still restore/recovery...)
Someone has already encountered this problem before?
Thank you very much in advance...

When you have restored a controlfile from a backup, it will list only copies or backup that have been registered with this controlfeil, if you want to catalog backups to restore controlfile, you can use the catalog command.

I'm trying to restore a controlfile from an earlier date.

I had a virus problem in my system. I was asked to back up the data before they formatted my hard drive. I used the backup and restore - 33 CDs Center. After picking up my computer (they have reinstalled the operating system - Vista), I was unable to restore my data. When I try to restore it, I get this message "there are no backups available on this computer.
Hi happythinker321,
1. How did you create the backup?
You will need to use the advanced restore feature and check if it works.
1. open the Center to backup and restore by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then click backup and Restore Center.
2. click on Advanced Restore Options. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3. click on files from a backup made on a different computerand then follow the steps.

Restoring files from DVD back to Windows 7 Home Premium
How to restore files from DVD discs created as a return to the top on my computer?
To restore the files on your DVD drive, you can simply insert the disc into your DVD drive and copy files directly to the desired location on your computer.
If you have created the DVD disc is a recovery disk (a disk you can use to restore Windows when Windows does not work properly), you can consult the following Web page to understand how to use it:

Is it possible to restore DB from a backup obsolete?
Hello
Is it possible to restore DB from a backup obsolete? In the affirmative. How?
Thank you
RajeshCatalog your backup again to restore. Please read the Sub paragraph.
Cataloguing of the older files in the recovery catalog
If you have copies of data file, backup or archive items writes to the disk, you can catalog them in the recovery catalog using the CATALOG command. When you use a recovery catalog, cataloguing of older backups who have aged in the control file allows you to use older backups during operations restore RMAN. For example:
RMAN > CATALOG DATAFILECOPY ' / disk1/old_datafiles/01_01_2003/users01.dbf';
RMAN > CATALOGUE ARCHIVELOG ' / disk1/arch_logs/archive1_731.dbf',
' / disk1/arch_logs/archive1_732.dbf';
RMAN > CATALOGUE BACKUPPIECE ' / disk1/backups/backup_820.bkp';You can also catalog several backup files in a directory at a time, using the CATALOGUE START WITH command, as shown in this example:
RMAN > CATALOGUE START WITH ' / disk1/backups /';
RMAN lists the files to add to the RMAN Repository and guests of confirmation before adding the backups.
Be careful when you create your prefix to CATALOGUE START WITH. RMAN scans all the paths for all the files on the disc beginning with the specified prefix. The incorrect prefix may include more files that you intend. For example, a group of directories/disk1/backups, / disk1/backups-year2003, / disk1/backupsets and/disk1/backupsets/test and so forth, all contain backup files. The command
RMAN > CATALOGUE START WITH ' / disk1/backups ";
lists all the files in these directories, because/disk1/backups is a prefix for paths to these directories. For only backups in the/disk1/catalog backups directory, the correct command would be:
RMAN > CATALOGUE START WITH ' / disk1/backups /';

Restore database from a specific location
Hello
I'm on 11.2.0.3 on Windows 2008.
I have a backup of my database of production on the network drive and I need to use this backup to construct my test database. To build the database of test, I copied the backup to network drive on my local drive on the test server and then restored the controlfile. After that, I catalogued the backup to local drive.
Now, RMAN can recognize the backup on the network location (as controlfile has all the information of all backups) and also local backup. If I try to restore, it goes on the network to get to restore backupset. Is there a way I can ask RMAN to use my local backup rather than go on the network for the elements of the network drive backup?
I know there is a "uncatalog" option available, that should be used for each backup piece and so tedious.
(1) can I force RMAN to use my local backup only without going to the network drive for the archives?
(2) at - it order to complete wipe all backups in a swoop of the repository so that I can catalog only local backups before I run the restore command?
SAQ
Yes, that's what I did.
I should end this question by concluding that there is not available for the following commands
(1) cannot specify backup location in the RESTORE command to mention a specific return, if there are several backups available.
(2) there is no single command to remove all items from backup to a single backup set, from the RMAN Repository

Path of redo logs after restoring controlfile
Hello!
After restoration of the controlfile I see distorted redo logs metadata (column v$ logfile.member):$OH/dbs/data/ora/MY_SID/rlog/redo1a.log
in the redo logs placed in another directory, source database
also I should drop logfile member and log file groups, and then create them again, but may be there other way to solve this problem?
Please notify.
I'm usung 11.2.0.3
Thank you and best regards,
PavelAs I said earlier, is that your database is working well? If so, then forget those files which are present in $OH/dbs/data/ora/file/rConnectez/MY_SID. Ok?
Suppose now, the question is what are these files? Who created/copied?
So the answer is if these files are used by your this database (MY_SID); that can be confirmed by query:
Select Member from v$ logfile; then the redo logs are used by this database else chances are these files were the first part of this database, but not now due to may be a corruption that happened, so another / previous DBA has left.And if the database is not running, then what is the error you found it please post it here; otherwise leave these files such what.
