  What files are missing?  Data or system files?  If these are system files, you can try the System File Checker.  Go to start | Run and type SFC/scannow, and then see if that fixes things.  If these are data files and you do not have a backup, so you can be out of luck.  OE emails you have lost, then see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4 if the data files can still be here somewhere if you search for them.

  Well, you can try to use the add hardware to search for device.
  But I found another option. Here the instruction how to find unknown device:

  1. click on start-> Accessories-> tools system-> and start the program "information system".
  2. open the "components" tab, then "problem devices".
  3. here you can find the device (e.g., ACPI\SMCF030\..) PNP ID
  4. If you have a recovery CD, put it in your CD/DVD drive. New Toshiba laptops do not have a recovery CD,
  drivers are on the HARD drive in the directory "c:\tools.
  5. now, open the Windows Search (start-> Search) and search for the central part of the above device PNP ID

  Question: I use the application CleanMyMac to keep my Mac in shape. Recently, they came out with an update which suggested that deleting 'useless' data from the Photos app to save space. They promised that there can be no harm to delete these data. Unfortunately, they are wrong. Now when I go in the album of faces on my Photos app, much Face tiles are just gray circles. When I click to open the photo, it opens, but faces album is pretty useless if I can't see previews of the photos. Is it possible to restore the data that allows me to see the faces of tiles in a preview? Here is a picture of what my screen looks like with the tiles in gray:

  

  I tried the "Repair library" option when starting from the Photos app, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I also tried a few other troubleshooting that took me more deeper into a hole that brought me to restore my library from a Time Machine backup point. Fortunately I don't lose all the photos, but I started with the issue of tiles of faces. Any suggestions are appreciated!

  If I understand your post you are trying to sync the videos of music from iTunes to your iPod nano, but not all videos are being synchronized through.  In a first step to solving problems, first try and play the videos that are not synchronization, to ensure that they can still be read.  If you are able to play, so the next step, I would like to is to reset your music sync options.  Be aware that by following these steps, you will be to delete all your music from your iPod in sync, but you will be then be sync it back.

  1. In iTunes, select your iPod nano
  2. In the sidebar on the left, click on music under settings
  3. Uncheck sync the music, click on remove
  4. Click on apply
  5. Once the synchronization process is finished, check the sync music
  6. Click on apply

  I can't say for sure the disc is damaged, but if some of the data can not be read and load correctly, I can imagine there is a problem with the disc.

  Try to contact the nearest authorized maintainer and ask if they can order new Toshiba recovery media for you.

  By pressing the F12 key immediately! After that laptop startup should allow a start menu.
  Then you should be able to choose between different devices like ODD, drive HARD, LAN, etc.

  Alternatively, you can try to press the C button allow booting from the CD/DVD drive.

  Last but not least, you can change the boot order in the BIOS.
  But don t forget to save the settings after changing in BIOS!
