restore the Firefox bookmarks on hard drive XP vista

I got a pc running xp, he's dead, I now have a laptop running vista, ive tried to import bookmarks from the old drive hard through a usb port connect but little matter I do this new installation of firefox on vista won't recognize the old bookmarks files.

bookmarks xp files are JSONLZ4

Vista firefox insists that I find a JSON file only

How can I restore my old favorites from the hard drive to the vista version of firefox?

This is the second time ive bookmarks/not able import... not a bit happy.

Just to confirm what you already know, a compressed file LZ isn't human readable. Open in a Firefox tab will look like gibberish.

LZ files are supposed to be restored using the Firefox Restore command in the Library dialog box, as described in this article: restore bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer. Is that where you got the error "unsupported file type"?

An .ini file is a text file that contains data of settings. Each profile folder has a block of 4 lines, and the active profile folder has a fifth line. Based on your former name of profile folder, you could open the file in Notepad and add this at the end (it should be a blank line above it):

[Agroalimentaire1]
Name = OldProfile
IsRelative = 1
Path = Profiles / rnnl7h07.default

But since I am squinting at a screenshot, you can correct this way if I do not have the right characters. Save and close this file.

Then you can try to switch to this profile using the Firefox profile manager. To do this:

Out of Firefox and start in the profile using Start Manager > Search box (or run):

firefox.exe -P

Be sure not to remove all profiles here.

Any time want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog box.

You should be able to select OldProfile and launch Firefox with the old settings. It runs?

    Hello

You should be able to start the installation of HARD drive recovery as described in http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm

Please note: this will not work if your laptop works with the factory settings. If you have used clean OS installation HDD recovery no longer unavailable. For the installation of factory settings, you must use disk recovery DVDs.

Everything must be described in the document s user manuals.

    Help!

    Hello:

I can't help you with why the image of the system will not work, but here's a way you can reinstall W7 by using the product key of W7 25 characters on your PC case.

Make your own plain W7 x 64 installation media.

Here is the link to the download site of Microsoft for the W7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 ISO file.

    http://MSFT.digitalrivercontent.NET/win/X17-24209.ISO Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 English

Make sure you get all the 3. XX GB of the file to download.  Sometimes it reports 'Download complete', but you do not have the entire file.

Burn the file on a DVD using the option of the program of your burner burn DVD file ISO then the DVD is bootable.

Or you can use this tool to transfer the ISO to a flash USB 4 GB or DVD drive.  The tool also performs the bootable media.

Then install the drivers and software available that you need your PC support and driver page.

Your question is a bit confusing, you can boot the laptop at all? Have you tried booting in safe mode, you can make a recovery DVD set from there, the folder Toshiba.

With the drive in the Toshiba, you should be able to use a F, F10, F11, or F12 key to activate the installation from the partition hidden started upward.

Otherwise, you can contact Toshiba, and with the model of the product id number and the laptop for Windows, you can buy a set of disks.

    Hello

This backup after pressing F11 is a HP backup option, not a Microsoft option.

I suggest that you contact HP or ask their Support Forums.

It's the normal advice I'd give to record data; but we have no idea of the State of your hard drive.

    Saving your files:

You can remove the hard drive and put it in a hard drive USB enclosure > plug it into another computer > and try to read and copy your data in this way.

Or, you can download Knoppix > make a bootdisk to > start your system with it (IF your material is all work) > and copy your data from the hard drive like that.

    See you soon.

  • Computer that crashed; System Restore which threaten to wipe hard drive

    Hi all

Today my laptop crashed. So I disconnected and tried to turn it off completely. He got to "shutting down" but does not move, so I had to leave the exhausted battery. Then I rebooted from recovery, is DVD went in safe mode and try to run the system restore. I now have a message saying:

    Packard Bell Recovery DVD!

    WARNING

ALL THE DATA ON YOUR HARD DRIVE WILL BE ERASED

    [OK]

There is no Cancel button or anything, just an OK button. They can't be serious, can they? (And I've read since that run the system on a disk restore is a bad idea). It seems I have to press OK or let the battery die again, either disconnect the battery. What should I do?

    Anon

First disconnect the battery. Now, to get into the mode safe on the hard drive of your computer.  start to boot and then press F8, and then select Safe mode.  Then you can try restoring the system from there. vader95 Windows 95-7 office 97 - 2010 Ubuntu 9.10 - 10.10

  • How to transfer iTunes with comments and followed by names, but keep the files of the song on external hard drive?

I have all of my music stored on an external hard drive. On my old iMac, I have iTunes with all the songs on this hard drive organized or recognized as I like, with comments and play lists and track/song names and album names. How can I transfer iTunes as it is to the old iMac to the new MacMini while leaving the actual files of the song (> 2.5 to) on the external hard drive? In short, I want the old iTunes on my new computer, but the files of the song in the current HD thank you so much.

(2.66 GHz, 4 GB RAM 20 "iMac; 2014 new Mac Mini)

Hmmm...   Never tried, but I "think" it should work.   The reader will need to named exactly something on the new computer, as it was on the old.

    1. on the old computer, go to {user folder} / music/iTunes and move the files on the external hard drive.

    2. on the new computer in iTunes, go to Preferences > advanced and not select "copy of the file to the iTunes Media folder.

    3. always in this same window under "iTunes Media folder location", click on change.   Now select the location on the external hard drive, you have moved the files too.

    Files to be copied.

  • Cannot save files from the iMac on external hard drive

Hello. I recently bought an iMac 27 inches 5 k retina and I can't save files to the iMac on my external hard drive, which is a 1 to Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex. I formatted the hard drive before, so I can use it on Mac and PC. It works fine with my Macbook Pro. But not on my iMac. What could be the problem and how can I solve this problem? I don't want the hassle of the backup of my hard drive and reformatting, because there a lot of files already on it. Help, please

Pray tell what is the format?

What happens when you try to copy files?

Mac can read but cannot write to NTFS without special software.

  • The maximum size of HARD drive the BIOS sees in Satellite Pro 4200 and 4300 series systems

I want to switch the HARD disk in my Satellite Pro 4340. I know the 4200 and 4300 SP series can take at least a 20 GB HARD drive that I've already updated a SP4270 and SP4280 drives from 20GB already.

I did a search on assignments earlier re. Satellite Pro 4200 and computers portable 4300 series as various other contributors of this forum had already asked this question. A respondent suggested that they had installed a 60 GB HARD disk without problem.

Someone at - it else mounted a big HARD drive (or more even) in these notebooks series 4200 and 4300 and managed to do work OK and had the BIOS to recognize the total size of the HARD drive?

What is the largest swap HDD that someone did with success on these machines of 4200/4300?

Unfortunately, you will not be able to find accurate information about it. All you can find are reports from other users. I am really interested about other views.

By the way: 60 GB HARD drive is not sufficient for you?
