Restricted document

When I try to highlight a document encrypted, encrypted to DC Acrobat and open with password in Acrobat Reader on my iPhone, I get an error saying "Restricted Document" and "this tool is not available because of the security settings of the document".  I checked the settings and all editing and commenting is defined as "authorized".  I can highlight in the drive on my Mac. I can highlight unencrypted, non of past a PDF file protected in iOS.  Is this a bug in the iOS reader - without taking into account the actual detailed permissions?

Hello

Your document is encrypted because of the security settings and restrictions of the document.

Acrobat Reader mobile apps (for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) have known limitation, where changes can only be saved to encrypted PDF documents.  As a result, users are unable to make changes (adding annotations or forms) for encrypted PDF documents.

On the other hand, there is no such limitation in the desktop version of Acrobat Reader, Pro or Standard.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Unable to make comments on a pdf document protected password in adobe acrobat dc on ipad

    Hello

I received a password via email protected pdf that I opened in adobe acrobat ms on my ipad. I am prompted for a password that I go and can then open the PDF very well. However, I want to annotate the pdf document, but get the following message appears when I try to select the comment function, "restricted document: this tool is not available because document security settings.

If I open the document on a windows device by using the adobe reader software, I can save and make fine annotations. I don't seem to be able to do it on the mobile app for iPad (Adobe acrobat cc).

Is there a way around this for the iPad?

    Thank you

    Ben

    Hi Ben,

Please provide a detailed description of the problem.

The contents of the PDF document protected by password is encrypted (so that no one can read the content until the password is entered).

Mobile products Acrobat DC (for iOS and Android) have the known limit where the changes cannot be saved in encrypted PDF documents.  As a result, users are not able to make changes (addition of comments/annotations or forms) for encrypted PDF documents.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Problems using PDF on some devices

Hi, hoping someone can help. This might not even be an Adobe issue but I thought I'd ask.

I have recently release a downloadable pdf. In the pdf file are tables that allow the user to enter data and they are doing some simple calculations.

It works fine on iPhone, iPad and Android 6 +... but I get customers coming back cannot be used on their iPhone 6s. This seems to be the only way out.

I don't know that it's a matter of apple, Adobe or where I have added encryption/no copies etc.

The message they get is either.

"This document is protected. Some changes may not be allowed.

    Or

"restricted document. This tool is not available because of the security settings for the documents'

I guess that's something I did when I downloaded it.

    Any advice would be great

    Phil

    Hi Phil,

seems that your iPhone 6s users try to use commenting tools to change the shape. Ask them if they can type on a form directly field to enter data.

Acrobat Reader on mobile devices does not comment (text markup, free text, drawing, etc.) on the encrypted documents.

I hope that this response will help you solve the problem.

  • Cannot highlight text in Android, doc works fine in PC Win7

I use Adobe Acrobat DC v15.0.2 Build: 116303 on Android version 5.0 on a Galaxy S5 Sport.

I have problems with highlighting of text in a particular document, a study guide security + cert. On other documents, I've tried works fine on the phone of highlighting text. It's just that a document that has problems, it is a 942 pages, 39.7 MB file. And here is a picture with its security settings. Note that I can highlight text on this document on the PC just fine. PC is Win7 64 with Adobe Reader 11.0.10. I tried to put it on the phone memory card and internal memory, same result, when I select some text, the menu displays only the option copy. This is in mode "Spectator", if I try to select the "Comment" mode, I get the error "Restricted Document" saying that I can't do that "because of the security settings of the document". , But the security settings allow comments and highlight, as it works fine on the PC

Please help. I'm leaving this request for assistance after having done a fair amount of googling and find no answers.

    Hi Carlos,

It's a PDF, encrypted, and we currently do not support any changes in a PDF is encrypted on mobile devices. We have taken it as a feature request and will try to add this feature in one of our next versions. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Create an interactive PDF on 35 pages

Hi displays the first time here, so apologies in advance if I break all the rules.

So I'm having a strange problem that I hope someone can help with.

I created an interactive PDF on InDesign CS6. The document has a back, a front and a button of content on each page as a TOC marked with a bookmark. When I go to export, said the document and open it in Acrobat. the form field guide bar (attached) seems that there is no form field in the document. The strange thing is that it appears that if the document is 35 pages or more. Can someone help so that this bar does not appear on the pdf doc?

In this case does not rely on the number of pages, rather than the number of interactive elements in the PDF file.

You can prevent Acrobat/Reader (regardless of the number of interactive elements) to display the toolbar of form by activating certain restrictions document as not allowing content do not copy or page extraction.

  • Get a message saying that "the operation is canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer" when opening the links in emails and documents.

Original title: URL links in emails & documents do not work.  The documentation I get the message, "operation is canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer".  How can I raise thise restrictions?

I have Windows XP and IE8

I recently downloaded the free antivirus software and later noticed that I would receive no response when you click on the links in the email.  Then I noticed the links in docs do not work, but clicking on generates a message that the operation is cancelled due to restrictions.  Based on the calendar, I suspect that this free software, which seemed very aggressively to make changes, caused the problem.

    Links IE8 work very well.

Don't know what this restriction is or where to look to eliminate it.

    Jim

    Cameron,

The link you sent me did not work; but they sent me an another prgm MS (MicrosoftFixit50191.msi) that solved the problem.

    Thank you, jim

    Hi williecolbert,

    1. what happens when you try to open the document?

    2. you receive an error message?

If there is any overall policy of restriction of the document you cannot open it unless this restriction is lifted.

I suggest that you take possession of the document and you are trying to open.

  • If I put a restriction of password which only allow customers who purchase print it (no copy or modification of the document) have an impact on the quality of the file when people open and read the file on mobile devices like phones and tablets?

If I put a restriction of password that only allow users who buy to print it (no copies or the modification of the document allowed)-it will have no effect on the quality of the file when people open and read the file on mobile devices like phones and tablets?

Some mobile devices won't be able to open it at all, but if it is open, the quality is not affected.  Please note and understand the warning you get when you set security: indeed, it is largely ignored by many apps.

  • Security drop-down method is grayed out on my Security tab.  I want to restrict the printing of the document

Why security method drop-down arrow appears on the Security tab dimmed?  I need to restrict printing

If you use the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software, you can not do this. It requires Acrobat (the full version).

  • RESTRICT EDITING... Where can I enter the password that allows me to edit the document?

I want to give my clients the opportunity to open, save and print documents without having to enter a password but I do not want to modify the PDF. Then, I limited edition by clicking on the tab 'Protection', and then click the button 'Limited edition' and entering a password.  It was working fine but now I have to make changes to some of the documents.  I scoured the internet for an answer, but I can't understand where the password that allows me to make changes to the PDF is supposed to be enterd.  I even went all try to remove all the safety devices of the document, but that only allowed me to edit the document.  Where am I supposed to enter the password that I created?  What is the point of the password so I can't get anywhere? How can I edit the document?  Thank you!!

In order to enter the password to delete the security, select: file > properties > Security > security method: [select No Security]

When you select "No Security", you will be asked to enter the password, and you can go on save the file now not secure, preferably with a different name.

  • Restriction of PDF Document

I want to be able to ensure that only one person at a time can open a PDF or gives you a warning when the document is already open - a lot like MS Office documents when you try to open a document that someone else has opened.

At the moment - the only way to know that someone else has the document open is when you go to save the document, and you get a message saying that it is already to save it under another name of the document.

Any ideas/suggestions? This causes me a bit of sadness that I have to combine, by copying and pasting comments changes from several documents into one document.

    Thank you!

It is not possible. Acrobat / Adobe Reader are not and cannot create a lockfiles, so there is absolutely no way to know if someone else opened a copy.
