RHEL6 VM workstation: unable to ping with bridged connection gateway

I have here is the config for my workstation RHEL6.

1. WLAN card: filled with the "physical replicate network connection' checked box (I tried unchecking the checkbox as well)

2. I have my host connected to the router via LAN. (Router IP: 192.168.3.1;) Host IP: 192.168.3.100)

2. / etc/sysconfig/network file as below:

Networking = yes

4. I can see my IP VM (192.168.3.150) registered in the list of clients of the router

5 MAC address of eth0 corresponds to the .vmx file recorded in the router

Nothing was wrong with the configuration of the VM.

My firewall was blocking traffic in and out of the virtual IP network machine.

    Hello world

I have a windows Vista as a host with Wi - FI where I installed Vmware server on it and I rode Windows XP with bridge connection.

But I can't have internet on my Windows XP.

Of course, it works with connection NAT but I want a bridge connection, so I can set a manual IP address to my windows XP.

Here's how my Windows Xp is configured:

    IP address: 192.168.0.2

    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Default gateway: 192.168.0.1 (this is my Windows Vista for IP configured on the NIC)

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello

Check which physical adapter network bridge is connected to.  I assume that your host also has an ethernet port?  Run the application 'manage virtual networks' administrator and check.  You can use this to change the connection open to use the wifi adapter.

  • I am unable to connect to the Linksys WRT54G Router with wired connection to Office XP.

My two laptops (XP and a Win7) will be connected to the router wireless and wired (ethernet). When it is plugged directly into the DSL modem, the Office connects and works very well. This problem started when I had to replace the DSL modem.

I inherited this problem for my elderly mother... and it all started because they gave me the router password wrong, who now works (router has been reset) on two laptops, but when connected, the Office doesn't even show a light of connection on the router except during startup. I no longer get a window of logon passwork for the router, and I am unable to connect/ping the router in the office. (192.168.1.1)

I would like to clarify a few things.

    1. two laptops work fine with cable connections and wireless through the WRT54G.

2 desktop PC, which has only a wired connection, does not connect successfully.

    3. the symptoms of the failure of the desktop connection to are that the link on the router at the start light flashes during initialization of the PC but then will Dim.

    4. when the desktop PC trying to connect to the internet, it fails.

5 when the desktop PC try to connect to the administration WRT54g page it fails.

    6. when the desktop computer try PIING the router at 192.168.1.1 IP address it fails.

    These points are correct?

Assuming this is correct, open a command prompt and type

    IPCONFIG/ALL

The output of the command should provide some information about the current state of the network connection.

It would be useful that you posted this here release.

The absence of a link light can be your main symptom and may be due to several reasons. He probably has an associate status "media disconnected" in IPCONFIG for the network connection.

This could be caused by a bad network cable or a network connection disabled in the properties of the network on the PC. Small jets knowing the ot IPCONFIG output is would help more.

Post this info if you can.

  • Questions of UPD on 4700dn printer - unable to communicate with the printer

    Hello!

I'm testing the UPD on my laptop which has Windows 7 64 bit on my network printers all in my building. All network printers work fine except one... Color LaserJet 4700dn.

When you use the UPD interface when you try to print, I try to use the IP address of the printer and it cannot connect. "When you use the search for network printers option, it recognizes the printer, but when I try to connect, I get the error ' unable to communicate with the printer.

I changed the host name of the printer, changed the IP address on this subject, I can ping the printer and print using the print server, I rebooted the printer... Even got a older laptop that has Windows 7 32-bit and used the UPD 32 bits and the same symptoms occur.

Any ideas because I hit a brick wall.

    Thank you very much!

Looks like you can set up a standard port and print ok from a print server.  The UPD in the stream you describe will attempt to make multiple calls SNMP to determine the abilities of the printer, and those who are failing, causing the UPD to throw the error you see.

Take a look at the network settings in the SAP.  Specifically, under Security, management of the protocols and the SNMP tab.  Watch to see if one of these parameters differ from other devices that work, like maybe SNMP is disabled on the YOA 4700n.

  • Virtual MACHINE is unable to ping host and vice versa

It is a very strange problem.  VMWare support tried to understand this output as Dell.  So, I just throw it to the community to see if anyone else has experienced this problem and may have a solution.  I have 3 identical Dell R720 servers.  2 work with no problem, but 1 (let's call it vm8) gave me problems since day 1.  Reference verified Dell equipment today and has updated me the BIOS, firmware and drivers on vm8, which did not solve the problem.  VMWare technicians checked each parameter network in recent weeks and currently, they are not the cause.

VM8 have ESXi installed 5.5.0.  The Server 4 has 2 NICs with 4 ports each.  Current configuration is vmnic 0-3 is connected to our LAN, 4-5 on our DMZ and 6-7 in our SAN (iSCSI). The AP will go up and down because VM8 loses connectivity to our isolation address (gateway).

VM8 (Mgmt IP network is 172.20.100.9) has only 1 VM (172.20.100.40). Same subnet (255.255.255.0).  .9 happens to ping expiration.40 using vmkping.  When I ping.9 de.40, the first package gets a quick response, then all following packets timeout.  According to VMWare, when you ping in (VM to host) it does not go out through the card physical network to the physical switch.  Everything is internal with vmnic and vSwitch.  When I ping my gateway (172.20.100.1), the ping is successful.  When I ping.9 from my workstation, the first packet times out, then answered the following packages.  It is the exact opposite of ping the virtual computer.

    Here's a better ventilation-

    .9 VM8 host

.40 VM on the host VM8

    .1 gateway

    .122 workstation over LAN

.25 vRanger connection (physical server on LAN)

    Ping

    .9 40 (100% packet loss)

first package de.40 a.9 (75% packet loss) Gets the response, then 3 timeout

    .9 a.122 good ping (0 packet loss)

    .122 a.9 (0 packet loss) good ping

vmkping (75% loss).9 a.25 does not appear each packet that it is sent.  But other results, can I assume first package times out.

first package de.25 a.9 (75% loss) has expired, the following 3 got a response

    .40 a.122 good ping (0 packet loss)

    . 122. 40 (100% packet loss)

The 3 can ping a.1 (every 20 minutes on VM8 I get a "vSphere HA agent on this host failed isolation address 172.20.100.1"

Also, throughout the day, I get the message - "vSphere HA agent on this host cannot reach some of the management of the addresses of network of other hosts, and HA is perhaps not able to restart the virtual computer if a failure of the host is displayed."  I came to work in the morning, and all my VMS on VM8 migrated to my other 2 hosts.  My backups don't work on VM on VM8.  I use vRanger connection and when I ping connection vRanger VM8 (physical server), the first package expires and the following packages get a response.  Then, when connection vRanger goes to back up my VM, runs aground due to loss of original packet.

These are things I've already tried.  I tested individually each physical NETWORK adapter.  I removed all the ports on the two NIC to try to isolate a specific port. All the 4 vmnic is active adapters in network properties NIC Teaming management and I moved each vmnic individually to unused to test each port.  I replaced the Cat6 cables.  I used different Dell switches and various ports of the switch.  I even swapped the switch ports that host another employee, exclude a switch port configuration problem. In addition, port security is disabled on the ports.  I upgraded ESXi 5.5.0 to a newer version.  There is a known issue with the tg3 driver, which I've updated to the latest version without problem.  I also used tg3 workaround by disabling NetQueue.  And we do not use of VLAN. Dell technical support says that it is not a hardware problem and thinks it's a matter of layer 2, but does not know where.  Basically, it's an internal problem (meaning strictly on VM8) with vSwitches or vmnic or it's a material gremlin in our Dell R720 box.

The final recommendation of Dell is to blow the ESXi server and install a clean copy.  It's extremely frustrating and I'm out of ideas.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Error: "unable to communicate with the TWAIN device" with brother MFC7820N

Original title: can I connect a scanner through a switch?

I'm trying to analyze something like I did it many times with my brother MFC7820N hung on my tablet. But recently, I replaced a 2nd router I had in my system that failed with a new Dynex switch.

I have my internet modem and 2 computers connected to a Linksys wireless router. I have another ethernet cable connecting the router to a new switch. I have my 2 printers attached to the switch. One is a Brother HL-2700CN color laser and the other is a brother MFC7820N mutli-function. It use PaperPort to scan stuff on him, since provided on the CD with the device.

So today I open PaperPort and click the Scan button and it appeared an error saying unable to communicate with the TWAIN device box.

So I clicked on a doc shown in PaperPort that I had scanned a few weeks ago and I click right and select Print and printed to this MFC7820N.

Then I come back to click on scanner again and yet again, it appears that box. So I watch and WIA-Brother MFC-7820N LAN is displayed in the Scanner marked drop-down list box. So I switched the power of the MFC and tried again and it still appeared that same box again.

OUCH! I'm going nuts! You have any ideas?

    Hi Jeff has Davis,

Method 1: Uninstall and reinstall the driver again and check if it helps fix the problem.

See this article for more information:

Method 2: Try the suggestion given in this article:
  • Unable to ping the remote host IP address

I have a home network with 2 desktop computers, printer, TV and BlueRay attached.  The PC is both XP and members of the same workgroup.  I can't get the connectivity between the PC 2.  With 1 PC, I ping successfully all connected devices, with the exception of 2 PC.  2 PC, I ping equipment successfully connected, including 1 PC...  I get the same information using a different router and a different network on 2 PC card.

I tried the following steps of the Article 314067:

    1. check on two PC's TCP/IP configuration.  Result: good on both PCs.

    2. use the ping tool to test connectivity.

    • Ping the loopback address.  Result: good on both PC
    • Ping to the IP address of the local computer.  Result: good on both PC
    • Ping the IP address of the default gateway.  Result: good on both PCs.
    • Ping to the IP address of the remote host.  Result: bad on PC 1, good on PC 2
    • Ping other IP addresses on the network.  Result: good on both PCs.
    • Ping the host name of the other PC.  Result: bad on PC 1, good on PC 2

    Article:

If the ping command fails, the remote host may not be responding, or there may be a problem with the hardware of network between computers. To the rule

on a remote host does not respond, use Ping again to a different remote host.

If you cannot use Ping successfully at any time, verify the following configurations:

    1. Make sure that the IP address of the local computer is valid and that it is correct on the

Tab general of the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties dialog or box when it is used with the Ipconfig tool.  Result: good on both PC

Make sure that the default gateway is configured and that the link between the host and the default gateway works. For the purposes of troubleshooting, make sure that this gateway by default is configured. You can configure multiple default gateways, gateways after the first gateway is used only if the IP stack determines that the original gateway is not working. Diagnosis is to determine the State of the first configured gateway. Therefore, you can delete all the other gateways to simplify your task.  Result: good on both PC
Make sure that Internet Protocol security (IPSec) is not enabled. According to the IPSec policy, Ping packets may be blocked or may require security. For more information about IPSec, go to method 7: Verify Internet Protocol security (IPSec).  Result: good on both PC

Thanks for your suggestions you may have.
