Right-click Windows Vista problem

I have the following weird problems with the mouse right-click:

1. sometimes, when right-clicking on a task in the task bar,

  • the shortcut menu appears, but I am not able to click one of its elements, or highlight it with the mouse. The context menu does not close even when you try to click on it.
  • the context menu is displayed in the upper left corner of the screen. In this case, I can click on its elements normally, however.
  • the appearance of the shortcut menu is weird: the element "Maximize" is written in bold and lacks the 'e' letter, showing as Maximiz. In this case, the element 'Close' isn't written bold. In addition, this case involves the first point (not being able to click on the items in the context menu).

This problem only occurs when you right-click a task in the task bar, than that is if I right click on the taskbar itself, there is no problem. The system tray works too, and the quick launch.

'Sometimes' means in fact very often. I might have to right click on a task several times until I get the popup to work normally.

And now the problem (possibly) other:

2. sometimes, when a right-click, context menu flashes quickly. As for the first problem, I have to click several times until the pop-up menu appears normally. Unfortunately, I can't describe exactly in what circumstances this kind of behavior happens. Most of the time right click works normally.

I'd love to hear what could cause these problems.

Thanks for the suggestions, Meghmala. I tried these methods, but the problem persisted.

However, after investigating the matter further, I have concluded that the root of the problem is my mouse. Namely, by pressing the right button of the physical mouse often causes clicks two (or more) at a time. I checked this by reversing the left and right buttons in the Panel. After that, left click (right button even physical) was buggy, but the taskbar context menu worked perfectly. If I clicked on very quickly, the bug was less likely to occur.

I tested clicks with this simple program: http://unixpapa.com/js/testmouse.html

The real solution to this problem is to buy the new mouse. The things that I mentioned in the first post were after all the right symptoms - some programs this is confused at the rate of 2 clicks from almost simultaneously.

  • Re-Activation Windows Vista problem

    Last night my PC, I've had for almost a year (running Windows Vista Service Pack 2) changed the schemee of 32-bit color and crashed.  I restarted, and when he arrived at the Vista logo animation before opening of session, he said that my copy of Windows was not authentic.  I manually turned off and tried again today.

    Of course, I'm on, but there is a message of 3 lines in the lower right corner of my screen that says "Windows Vista (TM) Build 6002 this copy of Windows is not genuine".  I wrote down the product key on the sticker on my PC and went into the system.  The current key was "89578-OEM-7352477-22174.  I clicked on "Change product key" and put in on the side of my PC, and it said that the activation was successful.  However, the product key is always '89578-OEM-7352477-22174' and the message is still on the bottom right of my screen.  I'd appreciate any help.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Windows Vista problems wireless on laptop

    First of all thanks in advance to anyone who can help me solve this problem. It really starts to drive me crazy. I have a laptop HP under Windows Vista Home Premium SP2, I built in adapter wireless and until a year ago it was working fine. I used a public WiFi access point, and I honestly think it crashed my adapter because it has never worked since. At the time I didn't it was something important.
    I can be right next to a wireless router (at home) and a laptop shows excellent signal and my HP link see the strength... until I hit... Then he throws a "Windows cannot connect to"
    I click on diagnose the problem and told me "Wireless association failed because Windows did not receive response from the access point or wireless router.
    I am looking for the extra wireless and it shows the same thing but this time one that I want to connect to is now the low signal strength... I tried a signal booster and I have tweeked every setting I can think. I'm lost. Here is a partial of my ipconfig and my all in the event log. (btw, this is the same event log whenever I try to connect to the same wireless connection)

    I ran ipconfig/all and my share wireless is as follows:

    Hi DJGabby,

    • What is the only computer that is connected to the wireless network?

    Try to power cycle the router and the computer and check if it helps.

    On the PC:

    1. Save your work and restart the machine.

    On the router or modem (if wireless printing):

    1. Unplug the router and the modem.
    2. Wait 30 seconds.
    3. Plug in the modem and wait for it to come to the ready state.
    4. Plug in the router.

    After you put cycle check the connection between the router and the computer wireless.

    If the steps above do not help, try resetting the stack TCP/IP go to this article and either click on "Fix it for me" or follow the instructions to fix it yourself:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357

    Disable the IP helpdesk:
    1 hold the Windows key and type R, type "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press enter
    2. scroll down to the IP assistance service, right-click on it and select Properties
    3. in the drop-down list box that says "Automatic" or "Manual", set it to disabled and then click 'apply '.
    4. then click on "Stop" to stop the service from running in the current session
    5. click on OK to exit the dialog box

    Disable IPv6 and remove IPv6 virtual cards:

    Try to uninstall IPv6 on all interfaces, the removal of virtual cards of IPv6 and reset the TCP/IP stack. To remove the IPv6, go to the properties for each network adapter, and deselect the check box next to the Protocol "Internet Protocol version 6 (TCP/IPv6), which will turn off, or select it and click on uninstall, which withdraw power off the computer.» Then go into Device Manager and remove any 4to6 adapters, adapters miniport WUN or tunnel adapters.
    NOTE: You should do this for each network connection, even if they are disabled.

    Disable the DHCP Broadcast Flag:
    Link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/928233
    Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756.  How to back up and restore the registry in Windows

    Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or some non-Microsoft DHCP servers

    To resolve this issue, disable the DHCP BROADCAST flag in Windows Vista. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, type regedit in the search box, and then click regedit in the list programs.
    2. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
    3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    4 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\ {GUID}
    5. in this registry path, click the (GUID) subkey that corresponds to the network adapter that is connected to the network.
    6. on the Edit menu, point to new, and then click DWORD (32-bit) value.
    7. in the new area #1, type DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle and press ENTER.
    8. right click on DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle, then click on modify.
    9. in the value data box, type 1 and then click OK.
    10. close the registry editor.

    By setting this registry key to 1, Windows Vista's trying to get an IP address using the BROADCAST flag in DHCP Discover packets. If that fails, he will try to obtain an IP address without using the BROADCAST flag in DHCP Discover packets.
    You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver for the wireless card.

    I hope this helps. Let us know the results.

    Thank you and best regards,

  • Cannot right click Windows 7 Explorer of files to generate the copy of the file names in a Notepad or Excel-compatible file. HELP REQUESTED!

    I struggled for several hours to restore the service right click that I used to have XP to Windows 7.  I need to save lists of file names such as displayed in the file Explorer. Allowing you to right-click and save files in Notepad. This option has been removed in Windows 7 and anything put in place to restore it.

    I have lists of items in the inventory and need to copy and paste the image corresponding to a transfer sheet to allow the server names to match images in article SKU.  The file names are long and typing is a complete waste of time.

    I used to be able to find them in the Windows Explorer, right-click on the directory and generate a txt file that I could open in Notepad or Excel.  -Easy.  Now right-click only allows an export in an uneditable image in ONE NOTE. This is useless for me. I can't do anything with an image file - I need the editable data.

    Is there a solution?  I need only the file name and extension, not the full path, in a text or spreadsheet document propagation.

    I had used the Microsoft solution to install their dose without knowing the final format was a NOTE image file format and not a simple txt file. I try now too write the batch file:

    %windir%\Printdir.bat

    or edit it in order to keep the file in Notepad and do not make the final conversion into a single Note.

    The problem is that the fix from Microsoft, designed to fix this problem, has placed the conversion file in the root directory and it cannot be overwritten.  I refused the possibility to delete, edit or write the file due to the requirements of administrative privilege mandated by the security of Windows 7 too much.

    So if anyone has a solution to every problem - that would help - I am very tired and frustrated and not happy with Microsoft.  Their zealous concern with security made their unnecessary programs for me and have further discouraged me to convert to the windows 10. frustrations and nightmares are waiting for me there I can't imagine.  What I really want to do at this point is to go back to XP.

    He ate five hours of my day. I don't have the time to fight like that. I am trying to be productive, but all I got are monumental technical walls and roadblocks - often designed into the system. Frustrating doesn't begin to describe it.

    Found a solution on a Web site:

    http://www.watchingthenet.com/how-to-print-a-directory-tree-from-Windows-Explorer.html

    They said it was for VISTA, but worked for me under Windows 7. You will need to use Notepad to the command prompt and select run as administrator to save the file in the root directory.

    Thanks for the help.

    Cheers.

  • Update for Windows Vista problem

    I had a virus on my computer and I rebooted just my Dell Dimension 9200 from scratch with Window Vista.  Everything worked fine until I went to Windows Update and installed updates.  Now, I don't see any of my CD ROM drives listed.  When I go to Device Manager it shows CDROM drives (2 of them), but it is said that they cannot be used because the information in the registry is damaged or missing.  I tried to restore the computer to a restore point before installing the updates, I did, but the system restore no longer works.

    After wringing my hands and trying to find and install the drivers without success, I have completely reformatted (AGAIN) and reinstall Vista reinstalled the printer Dell discs (AGAIN) and he did exactly the thing again.   This machine has no new material and ran Vista successfully for about a year before the virus got it.

    On a second note, almost half of the updates do not give an error code that indicates that the computer uses a proxy server.  This is not the case.  I use a DSL line to a medem then my router / switch that I have used for years.  This computer is connected to the router / switch with an ethernet cable.  I use the router so my laptops can connect wirelessly.

  • Windows Vista problem... Help!

    I recently had an automatic update install and reboot (sort of), but when the computer went to restart the operating system starts, so I have no idea of what is happening with my computer. So can someone please help me with my problem

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If the above does not work, try to make a Bootable ERD to do a Startup Repair:
    As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.
    As your falls into the above category: download the ISO on the provided link and do a repair of the disc.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista repair disc.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    There is not a disk of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
    See you soon.
  • Windows VISTA problems with ".exe" files
    I'm on Windows Vista Home Premium, 64-bit, SP2 on a HP Pavilion desktop computer. Recently developed a problem when you try to run any file with an ".exe" extension results in a window asking to "choose the application I want to use to open the file" or "this file has no program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the control panel to define the Associations. " Any ideas?
    Hello
    This problem occurs when your .exe file associations are broken. This is usually caused by a virus/malware that changes the default file associations in Windows. Follow these instructions to resolve this problem:
    Download exeHelper from one of these two links: link 1, link 2 double click on exeHelper to run the fix. A black window should appear. Once the patch is finished, press any key to close.
    Then try following the steps in this virus/malware removal guide: http://www.selectrealsecurity.com/malware-removal-guide
As soon as I plug the monitor HP it will take the Office to this monitor automatically. I put the monitor Acer on the right side, but not the laptop screen.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Hello
    First of all, make sure that the graphics card you are using is not limited in support of two screens.
  • Window 7 will erase all Windows Vista problem?
    Currently I have Windows Home Premium in my PC and laptop.  I have a problem with my PC, it's when I do a reboot of my PC hangs at "shutting down." To solve this problem, I remove remove the AC cord from my computer, I have reinsert HQ again to get back on my system.
    Second, my mouse cursor does not move after disconnection for the day.  In other words, when I'm ready to use my PC, I'm in the newspaper with my password to access my desktop.  But I can't manever than my mouse cursor because it is suspended - cannot move.  So I repeat the above operation, remove and insert my AC cord to my PC.
    These are my two issues.
    Question: When I install my Windows 7, all my above problem will be disappear?
    Question: When I install my Windows 7 Home Premium to replace my Windows Vista Home Premium, is it advisable (because of the questions above) to do a "clean install"?
    I suggest updating the drivers for your hardware, such as the video card, Sound Card, mouse/keyboard, update BIOS, network card, etc.  That will usually fix most blue screen / system restart issues and may solve your problem of mouse as well.
    If you are REALLY interested in fixing problems, back up your data (Documents, photos, music, bookmarks, e-mails, etc.) and do a fresh install of Windows 7.  Then go through the steps to update all drivers for Windows 7 drivers, and you probably won't have problems.
    I hope this helps.
