RT COM4

All,

When you use the virtual com COM4 on a RT system port:

1. can I send data to the RT via this port?

2 is this port for playback only?

I can see the boot data so I know that I speak of the RT.

Thank you

Hi Carmine,

Yes, that's to be expected. The virtual COM port allows to receive also the real-time system debugging strings as well. You can use the "RT Debug String.vi' to write messages on the virtual COM interface.

The reason for which you can provide only one entry to this console is because the underlying operating system in time real (Pharlap in this case), does not have the ability to input because it is pilot of the series, and he finds that virtual COM interface is owned by the kernel Pharlap. To summarize, Pharlap based real-time systems never try to read any input on the console serial interfaces.

Overall, you can use the interface to virtual COM to the party real time status updates and might find particularly useful for debugging your application (if applicable).

A flat note on the "RT Debug String.vi" is that it is not empty not until he meets a new line or until its buffer is full. What wants to say that if you want a status on the virtual console for each iteration of the loop, you'll want to concatenate a new line character to the string in the Debug String VI RT entry. Otherwise, you will see nothing for the number of iterations, followed by a large output on the virtual console (after filling the buffer).

    I believe that I have configured all the hardware including: usb 6251 DAQ connected to a SCC-68 with a load sg24 cell conditioner.  Also configured an actuator of PI - PZT E-516 as well through the MAX Series and the parallel section.  The new processor is not a slot r-232 if Im using a usb-r-232 converter.  I therefore appearing as COM4, which is fine.  When I run the vi associated with installing and configuring the PZT I get NO error, the settings are changed accordingly.  the problem is when I run my program r-232 parameters return to COM1.  The program calls the function of setting of PI which does not take into account user of com1 to 4 switch and just, he takes back when I run the program.  Of the reasons why this happens?  How to reconfigure hardware in combination with a previous program?  Is it possible to check if the program or if it's just my lack of knowledge of the configuration?

    In your main VI where you call the Subvi, right click on the entry in the Configuration Interface and select 'create a constant '. Change the selection of Com1 to Com4.

  • T400 modem com4?

    My laptop shows the above modem in the list of hardware.

    How to use the modem?

    Where can I connect my phone line to the modem/computer?

    My most old laptop had a dialup connector, but it does not work.

    PS: I tried a StarTech USB fax modem, but it sent my computer in never, never land and I had to return it.

    Oh, I see now that it's the left side of the laptop.

    Yes, I have the T400s - the link to the review that you sent me shows a picture of the back that looks just like mine.

    I wonder if the 'standard modem Com4' that appears in the list of hardware (Control Panel, phones / modems) is excess when I got fax modem StarTech USB installed - that I went as it doesn't.

    So, I guess I'll just order a $50 US Robotics and try that. I saw a post that said that worked.

    Thanks a lot for your help.

  • Problem with module 3G Tecra R10 - 10W

    Hello

    I got a new Tecra R10 - 10W a month ago.
    Until yesterday, the 3G module worked fine. This morning I got a blue screen on the end of Windows. After the computer restarts I heard the tone of conecting/disconecting some USB device several times. After the short survey, I found my 3G module enabling / dissabling every few seconds.
    In the control panel/phone options and modem, I found two modems broadband TOSHIBA is on COM3/COM4, 'away', or 'Non-functional '.
    I installed all the new software up to date, as it was shown on Toshiba TEMPRO, bur after that restart the computer got the same result.
    Later, I had Windows termination screen again.

    Please let me know what is the problem and how to solve?

    Best regards

    Hello

    Something seems to be confused at the top on the system
    Maybe it was a new update reported by Tempro. Who knows.
    Always is it that there is an error in device (3G) in Device Manager

    I think you should simply remove the 3G (high-speed modems) module from the Device Manager and reboot the laptop.
    After the new reboot the operating system should recognize the deleted devices and should install it again
    In most cases, it helps to solve these problems

    But if you're not going to succeed, I recommend uninstalling the software from the 3G module, then you must clean the BONES and the registry with a free cleaning tool (i.e. CCLeaner).
    Reboot several times to ensure that everything has been properly cleaned and finally try to reinstall this software again

    Mate good luck

    This error almost always occurs because the computer cannot hear regular ringing when it picks up the phone line to dial through the modem.
    Unfortunately, there is no standard solution for this problem.
    Did you check that the modem is plugged into a phone point in the wall?

    Hi Mikey,

    as a first step, it would be good to know which model you have.

    Then we can compare it with other models and perhaps a driver XP modem to another model fits!

    For the first time, here is therefore a standard modem installation oder.

    1. check if the modem is entered in the Device Manager
    2. check if the modem is configured and that it works?
    The Control Panel must be open and go to the phone
    options of modems and. It should be your modem!
    If it is not shown to you, then you must install the
    modem driver.
    3. double-click on modem and go to the Diagnostics. The
    modem query button queries the commandments with
    check the return signal. This will give you some additional information
    the modem works properly.
    4. then set up a standard dial-up connection to your

  • Ports COM1-4 'missing' Satellite M30

    Hello, communication ports (COM1-4) series of my sound of portable Satellite M30 suddenly "disappeared", or, at least, Window XP (Home version) is unable to detect them - through the management of resources or similar tools of surveillance - only parallel port (LPT1) is reported.
    Problem is that the modem (internal standard) (by default on COM3) is unable to work. Modem seems ok - at least according to Windows - but, as you can guess, it cannot accept AT command (and therefore start up).
    Everything else seems to work fine - including the Infrared Port, which should work, by default, on COM4? and mouse Touchpad. No problem i/o and IRQ address is detected on the other peripherls.
    Only the system serial port driver (serial.sys) is alarmed that unable to boot because.
    ..??? .. Even thought a hardware problem - ex.electrostatic discharge or similar? - but a couple of days ago the modem starts unexpectedly and worked correctly for long enough - even if with the COM ports still without being detected by Windows - but after connection went down and modem could not start (Error 633: modem, a device already in service or other problems of configuration...).
    .. Before proceeding to more annoying (and probably expensive) actions - such as reinstalling Windows?... or looking for a repair center - I wanted to try to replace the driver (serial.sys) series, but I was unable to find it-in the CD provided with the product or on the Toshiba site. Where can I find it?
    Other suggestions?
    Thank you

    Hello

    Don t look for serial port drivers. These ports are using simply common Microsoft Windows drivers!
    According to your description there are different problems with different internal devices.

    If all goes well it of not a hardware problem?  :|

    So in my opinion we must first know if it s a software or hardware problem.
    In this case you take your original Toshiba Recovery CD and must be reinstalled the operating system.

    Note; the whole HARD disc will be fomrated and you will lose data. So, don t forget to back up your data.

    If the new installation of the operating system didn't help any, and you will always receive error messages the technician must check the laptop!

  • Problem removing battery bluetooth / hidden devices / unpublished COM ports

    Hello
    Having problem completely remove Toshiba Bluetooth stack / hidden devices / unpublished com ports

    I uninstalled Toshiba BT s/w...

    But:

    (1) peripheral BT Toshiba hidden appear again and I can not remove (get the error)

    (2) the COM ports occupied by Toshiba BT not out (so they cannot be used by another pile of BT) and always appear in the registry
    ex: friendly name Toshiba BT Port (COM4) always in the registry

    (3) these new com ports do NOT appear in Device Manager

    What COM ports are actually used (must be used) by your current system?

  • Get information about the physical location (serial) Visa (slot) in PXI time real (Pharlab)

    Hello

    I PXI system with controller time real (OS Pharlab) and many maps series (about 6 cards).

    The maps in the series are two different models, which each contain several (8431/8 and 8421/8) serial ports.

    And the COM Port enumeration mix and I would like to know the link between COM numbering where it is linked.

    I have already dealt with a few methods:

    1. I've tried using the node property of Visa but he cannot know which card port COM belong

    2. I tried to use the Configuration Library system and don't manage to get general information of the card and not what ports have this card.

    3 try to fill you with the VisaConf.ini, but discovers that ASRL and COM Auto-enumeration is the same.

    4. I tried to look in NISerial.ini, NISerial.dbs and NOR - RT.ini and did not find any help here.

    Application engineer or support suggest to look in the registry of the operating system Pharlab because it is windows based and material information must be stored in the registry

    Further explanation on the problem of PXI enumeration:

    PXI produce enumeration auto for the ports series (COM3, COM4, COM5...) according to the card slot, but when there is a mix of the two models of the system would then list a model (8431) from 3 to 50 (6 cards and 8 ports) and the other model (8421) 51 to 98. so if I have 8421 in 2 and 8431 slot number in the slot number 3 it would list 2nd slot COM59 to COM68 and 3rd slot COM11 to COM19.

    Why not just use NOR-MAX to manually configure the ports?

    The system is essential and can not be stopped for a long time and he operated by people who are not very technical, so the customer who wishes to be able to exchange business cards without futher configuration.

  • How to read the Serial Arduino data using labview VISA?

    Hi =). Im a beginner work reading data series from an arduino but im facing... Lets do it step by step

    I built a voltage divider circuit which gives from output
    from 0 to 5V. The output of this circuit is sent to a 0 analog input pin
    of a Committee of Arduino Duemilanove.

    (1) Firstly, I connected the cable to connect to my laptop USB the Arduino.

    (2) I went to start-> control
    Control Panel-> system-> hardware-> Device Manager. Check the Ports (COM
    & LPT). In my laptop I can see USB Serial Port (COM4). Now I know only in
    LabVIEW that I must read the data series COM 4.

    (3) to the side of the arduino, here's the code to read changes in voltage
    entered to analog pin 0. The last line of 'delay' determines the sampling
    Rate of how we want to taste the output of the voltage divider:

    int potPin = 0;    Select the input pin for the output of the voltage divider
    int val = 0;       variable to store the value from the probe

    void setup()
    {
    Serial.begin(9600) (9600);    Opens the serial port, establishes the rate of 9600 bps data
    }

    void loop() {}
    Val = analogRead (potPin); read the value of the voltage divider
    Serial.println (Val);
    Delay (10);
    }

    I slightly modified the basis series reading writing VI... I have
    attached the block schema used with comments. Basically, I tried to read
    data series, divide by 1023 and multiply by 5 to graphic voltage
    variations of the voltage divider circuit.  But Im not getting
    the correct voltage output values. The value of the tension just keeps go
    0 and coming again, as shown in the photo.

    Could you guys please guide me on what went wrong?

    Thank you!

    -you read the data, even if there is no data on the port. If 0 bytes are read => «»

    -in the case of false, you resources VISA wired for the output of channel tunnel?

    -There is no close VISA at the end of the VI resources

    -you're not a loop this VI reading bytes

  • How can I use 2530 b and 4065 to measure the resistance between two selected pins?

    I want to be able to select 2 corners on a test with 2530 b set-up and measure the resistance between them with a 4065 DMM (PXI all). Ankles in question are each in blocks of 32 different poles, so I can match them in a double configuration 32 x 1 four or 64 x 1 if necessary. I can measure the resistance between several different pine sets as 0 on 33 pine pine, pin 0 at pin 34 pin 0 to 35 pin and pin 1 to 34 pin, pin 1 pin 36, etc.

    I understand how to measure resistance between a given pin and Earth using the the 2530 4065/b using the wizard OR-DMM/Switch Express, but it is unclear if I can measure the resistance between the two pins of selected by different user. I am a newbie of labview, used to write things in c#, so it may be something very trivial (I hope).

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    -Russ

    Hey Russ,.

    I recommend starting with the following example (located in the Finder the example ('Help' to find examples):)
    "" Material input and output"Modular Instruments ' OR-Switch" niSwitch Dmm Switch Handshaking.vi

    Because you use a scan list, you can simply drag the two connections to the same entry and then the switch will wait for the two to settle before you send a trigger of the DMM... problem solved.  For example, to connect the CH1 to Com0 (DMM +) and CH93 to Com4 (DMM), then take a measure, then connect CH38 and CH120 to the DMM, you would use the entry list of scan to the following address:

    CH1-> com0 & ch93-> com4; CH38-> com0 & ch120-> com4;

    Note You can have as an entry in list of switch module scan.  In addition, you can only have a single advanced analysis and a measure full per switch module.
