Rule of the Tomcat host State

Alarms Tomcat host unrecoverable state and Normal are now show the following:

"'UnclusteredTomcatHosts' / 'localhost'": Tomcat host unrecoverable state "and"Tomcat host 'localhost' in 'UnclusteredTomcatHosts' cannot run. " "Please use the following URL for details of the alarm:

"UnclusteredTomcatHosts/localhost: host Tomcat Normal State" and "the State of Tomcat host 'localhost' in 'UnclusteredTomcatHosts' is normal."

I tried to figure out where the variable is bad. Here's my setup.

Additional accessories:

That's what I was afraid of, all servers exist as localhost.

Check the release notes http://edocs.quest.com/foglight/562/files/CartridgeForJavaEE_574_ReleaseNotes.html it seems that this has been officially corrected in version 5.7.4 but I see that some of your agents are 5.7.1 and 5.7.3 so I'm not 100% sure what version you are using on your FMS and what are your upgrade delays.

The release notes mention the name of the server in the server.xml file, you can try to set this value in the file server.xml for one of your test/dev servers, restart the JAVA virtual machine and see if it does the trick (if it isn't that, to change the name of the server in the file server.xml can be a good solution in the meantime.

Article corrected one thing, it seems that the version is optional and that there is a lot of flexibility with the settings.

  • rule of the VM host affinity Vcloud managed cluster.

    Hi all

I have an automated DRS Cluster in which we want to create a vm host affinity rule. This cluster is added to Vcloud Director. Can we create a rule of VM host affinity on the cluster added to the Vcloud directory?

    Kind regards

    Vikram kumar.

There is nothing you can do that.  But they only persist as long as this specific VM exists.  for example if you copy this catalogue, the resulting virtual machine will not have the same affinity rule.

So yes it is possible, but it may be best to use some sort of automation to perform the task for 'remember' If you happen to have more than 1-2.

I know that people have done that to save on license of operating system/Application fees.  The only downside to know is that pass by the maintenance mode could violate the rule of the DRS.

  • Unable to ping the remote host IP address

I have a home network with 2 desktop computers, printer, TV and BlueRay attached.  The PC is both XP and members of the same workgroup.  I can't get the connectivity between the PC 2.  With 1 PC, I ping successfully all connected devices, with the exception of 2 PC.  2 PC, I ping equipment successfully connected, including 1 PC...  I get the same information using a different router and a different network on 2 PC card.

I tried the following steps of the Article 314067:

    1. check on two PC's TCP/IP configuration.  Result: good on both PCs.

    2. use the ping tool to test connectivity.

    • Ping the loopback address.  Result: good on both PC
    • Ping to the IP address of the local computer.  Result: good on both PC
    • Ping the IP address of the default gateway.  Result: good on both PCs.
    • Ping to the IP address of the remote host.  Result: bad on PC 1, good on PC 2
    • Ping other IP addresses on the network.  Result: good on both PCs.
    • Ping the host name of the other PC.  Result: bad on PC 1, good on PC 2

    Article:

If the ping command fails, the remote host may not be responding, or there may be a problem with the hardware of network between computers. To the rule

on a remote host does not respond, use Ping again to a different remote host.

If you cannot use Ping successfully at any time, verify the following configurations:

    1. Make sure that the IP address of the local computer is valid and that it is correct on the

Tab general of the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties dialog or box when it is used with the Ipconfig tool.  Result: good on both PC

Make sure that the default gateway is configured and that the link between the host and the default gateway works. For the purposes of troubleshooting, make sure that this gateway by default is configured. You can configure multiple default gateways, gateways after the first gateway is used only if the IP stack determines that the original gateway is not working. Diagnosis is to determine the State of the first configured gateway. Therefore, you can delete all the other gateways to simplify your task.  Result: good on both PC
Make sure that Internet Protocol security (IPSec) is not enabled. According to the IPSec policy, Ping packets may be blocked or may require security. For more information about IPSec, go to method 7: Verify Internet Protocol security (IPSec).  Result: good on both PC

Thanks for your suggestions you may have.

    Hello

  • vSphere high availability 'Élection' fails at 99% 'operation timed out' to 1 of the 2 hosts

    Hello

We had a system with 1 host ESXi 5.1 with local disks.

Now, we install redundancy by adding a 5.5 U2 ESXi host and a device of vCenter 5.5.

After having installed and any addition to vcenter, we went the ESXi 5.1 to 5.5 U2 ESXi. The SAN works correctly (vMotion works on the own NETWORK card).

Now, if I try to activate the high availability, both servers will install the HA Agent and start "Election".

All the warehouses of data (4) on the SAN are chosen for the HA heartbeat, response of isolation is "keep it turned on" by default.

A server will always be this process done, and the other will keep "elect" until it reaches 100% and errors on the operation "election timed out.

I've seen this problem on both servers, so I think that the 'master' elected does not have the problem, only the "slave".

I have checked these items and executed, but not worked:

VMware KB: Reconfiguration HA (FDM) on a cluster fails with the error: operation timed out

    -The services were running

VMware KB: Configuration HA in VMware vCenter Server 5.x does not work, error: Operation Timed out

-All the MTU has been set at 1500

VMware KB: VMware High Availability Configuration fails with the error: unable to complete the configuration of the ag of HA...

-the default gateway is not the same on the two hosts, but I fixed that. There is no itinerary changes. HA the setting is "leave power." After correction and deactivation/reactivation HA, the problem is always the same.

VMware KB: Check and reinstall the correct version of the VMware vCenter Server agents

-J' ran "Reinstall ESX host management agents and HA on ESXi" agent of HA, and I checked that it was uninstalled and reinstalled during the reactivation of HA.

    CP /opt/vmware/uninstallers/VMware-fdm-uninstall.sh/tmp
    chmod + x /tmp/VMware-fdm-uninstall.sh
    /tmp/vmware-FDM-uninstall.sh

I did this for two guests. This fix makes the problem of the election and I was still able to run a HA test successfully, but when after this test, I turned off the 2nd Server (in order to test the PA in the other direction), HA has no failover to 1 and everything remained low. Or the extra things that I can check or provide?

    I'm currenty running options.

    Best regards

    Joris

P.S. I had problems with cold Migration during the implementation of the SAN. After setting up all (vMotion, ESX upgrade), these problems have disappeared.

When you search for this error, I came to this article: KB VMware: VMware vCenter Server displays the error message: unable to connect to the host

And this cause could make sense, since the server vCenter changed and IP addressing has been changed during the implementation.

However, in the file vpxa.cfg, the < hostip > and < serverip > is correct (verified by using https://< hostip > / home).

Tried this again today, no problem at all.

P.P.S. I have set up several of these systems from scratch in the past without problem (if it is an 'upgrade').

OK, so the problem is solved.

I contacted Dell Pro Support (OEM offering the license) and they checked the logs (fdm.log) and found that the default IP gateway could not be reached.

The default gateway is the ip address by default host isolation, used by HA.

Because it is an isolated production system, the front door provided proved only for future purposes.

Now, I've changed the default gateway address of management on the switch plugged into both hosts, namely the ping requests.

    This solved any problem.

  • How to report the current time on the ESX host in to a csv file with the following

    Hello guys

    foreach ($esxcli in get-vmhost | get-esxcli) {"" |} {Select @{n = "Time"; e = {$esxcli.system.time.get ()}}, @{n = "hostname"; e = {$esxcli.system.hostname.get (.hostname)}}}

    Add-Content - Path '$hostVC, $hostCluster, $hostHost, $hostNTP, $hostTime' $hostInvFile - $ hostTime is where I want to get my host right now.

I'm vcenter, esx name, name of the cluster, host of the ntp server address, but I need the host thus present.

Try changing the line where the script retrieves the VMHost to this

    $vmhosts = get-VMHost-State connected. Name sort

This way the script will be only to ESXi nodes that are "connected".

  • I can't 'upload to the ftp host'

Hi, I can't download my site in the "upload to ftp site' I already downloaded by export HTML, but I want my client to use in the browser edition!

My Web host is HOSTGATOR and when I put 'public_html' in the folder on the server says "public_html" section does not appear to point to "ifrance.com. I tried to public_ftp, public_html/mysite.com, / public_html, and they do not work all the say server don't seem to point to "ifrance.com.

I was still able to download the site via filezilla, so I don't really know what im doing wrong can somebody help me please?

There are still a lot of confusion about these last steps. Mainly because all hosts have different rules, although they all will tell you that they adhere to the 'standards '. sure Yes...

Some general explanations might help to understand what is happening and why sometimes will not work.

Your website uses probably under a domain name like "'samanthasplace.com ', with the 'www.' " being the obvious prefix for your Web site. But it is for HTTP, the display of the site, what your web visitors will do. They can't change the files. FTP is the process you use to copy your web files to and from this same server, really, adding and deleting them.

Your hosting provider has probably little server space for you, but just like with a theatre, entrance to the artist (FTP) is not always on the same address as the public entrance (HTTP). Then the FTP address of your hosting space on the server is not necessarily "www.samanthasplace.com." It could be 'ftp.samanthasplace.com' or 'ftp.thebestprovider.com' or even a number of cryptic IP as '12.234.192.104 '. All depends on how your Web host has decided and set to allow you to work with their services.

And of course the FTP entry is closely watched, so you need your FTP login name (sometimes an email address, sometimes a short or long name, everything is allowed) and a password. These are sometimes identical to the login and the password of the e-mail services (if you have the same hosting provider), but once again: there is no rule.

Within this hosting space, the root of your Web site is often a separate file name given, so that there may be other things on this as well hosting space, outside of this folder (as auxiliary scripts, backups, and others). The name of this folder is dictated by the hosting provider. It is often something like 'public' or 'public_html' or 'www' or ' something ' they came with.

Do not confuse or simplify these parameters and credentials while waiting for them to be 'standard '!

A last typical aspect of Muse : Muse invite you to mention the field (Sire URL) of your website, linking the Typekit fonts to it. Otherwise, the policies won't work. If this parameter is actually nothing to do with the process of FTP download.

  • Create new vCenter and move the ESXi hosts

    Hello

I created a new vCenter vCenter apparatus using ISO 6.

The deployment went well and I have all the installation program. I would now like to move hosts our old vCenter to new ESXi.

I was reading this article to start the moving process.

When I try to disconnect the host I get the message below

    vcenter6_hostmove_001.png

In the article in the link above it is written that it will not affect the State of the virtual machine running on the host.

If I click on 'Yes' here, it will automatically put the host in maintenance mode?

I prefer not to do it if I can avoid it because I don't want to have to evacuate all virtual machines running on the esxi host.

Wouldn't it be better if I disabled it HA first? Then try to move hosts? Or I'm sure to sign-out and the subsequent removal?

    Thank you

    See you soon

    Hello

You must put your server in maintenance as a first step mode, then unplug and remove the server. It will work.

If it doesn't work, disable temporary HA and remove your host of the VC.

Has anyone ever experience this problem?  Any help towards a solution would be appreciated.

    Hello

I would say that it is somehow related to the fact that the VM was converted from physical server. Here are a few questions you should ask yourself:

Type of CPU on the computer old physical host and VM match? At least seller of CPU? It goes the same for the chipset: are there different chipset vendor on the two hosts?

What type of card NETWORK VM uses?

Has uninstalled the drivers card mother/CPU specific converted VM? The VM tools are installed?

Uninstall the old drivers of VM, currently they are not visible in the Device Manager here some is read: http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/virtualization-pro/removing-old-hardware-after-a-p2v-conversion/

I would also check the BIOS of the server - maybe there is some sort of option for active energy that interfere with the VM?

Something similar with affinity / anti-affinite DRS rules (but not through the DRS enabled on vCenter).  My focus is on the affinity. In case this happens, I need vMotion one of them on an another ESXi host(manually or automated).

What I have done until now is the following:

    Get - VM | Select Name, @{N = 'Cluster'; {E = {Get-Cluster - VM $_}}, '

    @{N = "ESX host"; {E = {Get-VMHost - VM $_}}, '

    @{N = 'vCenter'; E={$_. "(ExtensionData.CLient.ServiceUrl.Split('/') [2]}}, '"

    @{N = "Datastore"; {E = {Get-Datastore - VM $_}} | `

    Export-Csv - NoTypeInformation C:\Scripts\file.csv

That becomes all the VMS and export a CSV file information:

    NameClusterESX hostvCenterData store
    test2cluster_testESXi_test1vCenter_test1:443datastore1
    Test1cluster_testESXi_test1vCenter_test1:443datastore1
    For1.localcluster_testESXi_test1vCenter_test1:443datastore1
    VM1.localcluster_test2ESXi_test2vCenter_test1:443datastore1
    VM2.localcluster_test3ESXi_test3vCenter_test1:443datastore1
    VM31.localcluster_test3ESXi_test3vCenter_test1:443datastore1

    Thank you.

    Try like this.

    $tgtVM = "test1", "test2".

    Get-VM-name $tgtVM | Group-object - property VMHost | %{

    if($_.) County - gt 1) {}

    $vm = $_. Group | Get-Random

    $esx = $vm. VMHost

    $tgtEsx = get-Cluster - $vm VM | Get-VMHost | where {$_.} Name - not $esx. Name} | Get-Random

    Move-VM - $vm - Destination $tgtEsx VM - confirm: $false

    }

    }

  • Using the cmdlet Get-stats for the problems of performance of ESXi

I need to detect the bottlenecks (if any) causing poor performance with a (free) 5.5 ESXi host.

I see that if I use the cmdlet Get - stat PowerCLI I get dozens of meters, such as "mem.usage.average" or "'rescpu.maxlimited1.latest ', just to give two samples. "

Can I identify a subset of the counters I should follow to identify possible bottlenecks in the fastest way possible?

    Concerning

    Marius

    Everything depends of course.

There are several positions which list a number of key counters to watch.

The Hosts of ESXi monitoring - a deeper on the what and the why look , you will find a good starting set.
