Running a Labview VI automatically enforcement in TestStand

I try to have a VI run immediately when the step is called in the TestStand sequence editor.  Basically, I don't want to press the button "run" on the VI and have it start loading the inputs connected to be called by the Publisher.

Are you even scroll through the sequence?  The only time where I have seen this problem is when I'm alone walk and I hit step by detailed step.  In this case, I don't want it still works.  Sometimes, I need to change the entries because of a stupid programming error.

  • How to check if an Excel Application is open, and if so to close before running a labview VI

    Hi all

I have a VI that takes measures and store them in one worksheet Excel after a few digital manipulations. I was very careful to close whatever it is in the correct order before making a "Quit Application" at the end of the Labview VI

The VI works well and as many times as we want as long as no Excel application has been left open (open hand to check the data for example) before running the labview VI.

So currently, I have to be careful that no Excel application is open before starting the VI.

Someone can tell me how my Labview VI can detect (at startup) If an Excel application is already open, and then close in case Yes?

    Thank you

  • Running a Labview VI illustrated alongside Teststand

This sounds like it could be a good use case for synchronization objects. I enclose an example that uses a notifier to do something similar to what you described. I wouldn't recommend handle like that serial numbers, but it gets the point across. You can also find a better example on notifiers here.

    I hope this helps!

  • How to with Labview startup window hidden when Teststand start loading

I have Teststand development enviroment and Labview development environment installed on my computer, my use of Labview teststand adapter applications. It is every time when I start the application being Teststand, Labview, window pop auto-start - up, I wish to customize this behavior to let Labview just show in the taskbar.

When you distribute applications, everything has to run in the runtime engine (RTE). It should not require development environments (Dev Env) must be installed on the machine at all.

That being said, I recommend you configure the TS LV adapter to run the screw into the TEN. Which will automatically get rid of dialog to launch like this is part of the Env of Dev of LV.

  • LabVIEW does not listen to teststand while that connected to telnet

    Hello

I have a telnet open to some hardware connection and I'm passing in variables my LabVIEW that speaks to this telnet.

The telnet runs from my command prompt (which I run as an executable at the beginning of my teststand sequence).

My problem is when the command prompt is started, and the connection is made the variables being passed to teststand to labview are ignored (this is perhaps due to being of labview single thread to the telnet session?). I can't stop the connection to the command prompt at all (if the connection is lost the test fails) I am looking for a solution where I can leave the session running telnet as my labview is always listening to what is spent to teststand.

I know its what invite telnet session the origin of the problem because as soon as I close my variables can be seen at the entrance.

    Any ideas are appreciated

Sort my own problem, I think.

The example provided by labview has a while loop in it. This means that it ends just place locked in this while loop, the first time his name. Sort by removing the while loop (and a little bit of editing) teststand which gives a chance to talk =)

  • Features VI DAQmx differently in LabVIEW that it does in TestStand

I particularly have a VI that generates a square wave signal to control the movement of a motor. When I run the VI in LabVIEW, after a certain time, it stops (a timer is also included in VI). When this same VI is executed as an Action (or boundary Test or pass/fail Test) in TestStand, the continuous PWM signal generating indefinitely after the VI terminated and (if necessary) results were returned to TestStand. If I followed this VI with an another VI which generates a square wave and a 0% duty cycle, the motor stops, as expected. However, I cannot rehabilitate the TestStand sequence without resetting the cDAQ chassis - and even in this case, every other time only. LabVIEW reports an error-200474 (expired timeout) and TestStand reports an error-200088 (task invalid or non-existent) on other tracks.

My questions are: why? and what can I do about it?

    Hey Nessalc,

After watching your program, I think I understand why you don't see a signal on your oscilloscope.  The test1 VI opens a reference to your task of meter output configures synchronization and then starts the generation time and again and more, without ever giving the working time to generate impulses form.  Generally speaking, you would do this with a DAQmx's task made a Subvi wait until done (according to if it is a continuous or finite pulse train).

If you attempt to run a train of pulses for a period of time, see the example called Gen dig Pulse Train - Finite.vi, which can be found in the Finder for example of NOR (material input and output"DAQmx" Generating Digital pulses).  Based on the value of the number of pulses and frequency controls, you can set up your device for a pulse train of output for a certain period of time.

I also noticed that you are not clearing your task at the end of the program.  It is necessary to free up your resources before attempting to create another task for this resource.

The following image is a screenshot of the example program block diagram (Gen dig Pulse Train - Finite.vi).  I have marked the key subVIs that I found missing in your application.

I hope this helps.  Let me know if you have questions related to this issue.

  • LabVIEW cDAQ automatic selection of the device?

First off, I want to say that I am in no way a developer for LabVIEW, but I'm competent with as applications and have done a little with it.

    That being said:

We have a vi that runs to collect data using a NI 9215, we took that vi and converted to an exe file using the application builder. When deploy us the exe on your laptop and you connect the cDAQ-9171, the vi works well and collects data. The problem comes when we pass the cDAQ to a new unit OR is looking for one last that has been installed and will not run the vi. It should go in DAQmx, remove the old device and refresh it, then run the vi and it works fine.

Is there a way that we can modify the vi to automatically choose any module CDAQ instead of trying to cDAQ1 or cDAQ2... etc. Is this possible or is it more on this point that I don't see. We need to make it easier for technicians do not have to do a lot of configuration of the computer as sometimes they are not competent in this sense.

    Thank you in advance.

Specify the default value in the business structure means that the case run for any entry that does not already have a separately defined cases. Your "NI 9215' case also includes the default value in the same case. Thus, if the first element of the array of device is your chassis (cDAQ5), the code in the "NI 9215', default always runs because there is no other cases defined for"cDAQ5. " This means that the loop stops and the device name "cDAQ5" will be sent to the output of the loop, which causes the error that you see because the DAQ assistant need the full name of the module. The structure of your business must have two cases: one for 'NI 9215' and a case by default to manage everything that isn't a 9215:

Also, by putting the nodes property and the loop inside your loop time like you did, you say it to run this code on several occasions, when you really need to get the name of the device once. Put these items outside the while loop and wire only the name of the device in the loop, as I did in my example.

  • is there a minimum set of windows services that can be run under Labview?

I need more cpu resources to perform my VI, is there a list of Windows resources that I can disable that will not affect the VI?

    Hello

I would like to know if there is a minimum of services set in really need of LabVIEW. Not because my VI needs more CPU, but because I don't see why I should have 10 services OR running in the background even when LabVIEW is not working.

The list of services OR that I have running on my Vista 64 bit system when LabVIEW is not running is:

    national instruments tagsrv.exe 1 k 9 996 variable motor

    2 nisvcloc.exe NOR 0,920 k service locator

    3 NOR-PAL 3 492 k nipalsm.exe service manager

    4 NOR-Pal 7 468 k nipalsm.exe service manager

    5 nipalsm.exe service manager OR-Pal 21 356 k

    service of National Instruments Zeroconf nimdnsResponder.exe 6 k 1 924

    7 niLxiDiscovery.exe National instruments LXI Discovery Service 1 592 k

    nidmsrv.exe 8 nidmsrv 3 492 k

    lktsrv.exe 9 iktsrv.exe 3 480 k

    10 lkads.exe lkads 3 124 k

    TOTAL 56 844 K

Anyone know which of these I really need? I do not connect any equipment data acquisition on this machine. It is purely used for writing vi which are then transferred to another machine where they are tested. I have installed DAQmx and LabVIEW 8.6.

    Thank you.

  • Applications with the same resources of project running in LabView

    Hello

is there a way how to force LabView running screws (apps) that share resources (screw controls etc.) as independent.

I have a project with TCP/IP networking, it is better being debugged localhost, and two applications share a reusable code that I use (report errors, typedefs), synchronization of threads

If I run both as screw, she eventually of course dysfunction, because both applications share a memory, which is supposed to be the current process.

Now I have to build these Apps with debugging turned on to solve this problem, it's a lot of your time, because every code change must be to rebuild

You have both of your applications in the same project?

If so, try to put in different projects.  LabVIEW will create spaces separate memory for them.

  • Cannot run executable LabVIEW on desktop connection remote

I have a couple of executable files, which are compiled using a LabVIEW 2011 development system, installed on a Windows XP computer.  These programs run fine when I double-click the icon while sitting at the computer.

If I connect to the phone remotely from another Windows XP computer using Remote Desktop connection, I can use the remote computer normally except for the executables LabVIEW.

When I double-click on one or the other, I get the error message displayed in the attached file. The part of the text of the report has no useful information, just two lines that seem to be field for e-mail names.

    What gives?

Remote debugging is not a good substitute because it requires the executable file already be running.

I was able to run two executables LabVIEW on desktop connection remote to a virtual machine of Windows 7 with 2 GB of RAM, running on a MacBookPro using Parallels Desktop.

This confirms that the problem was insufficient for memory resources.

  • Can we run a LabVIEW VI and downloaded at the same time on Arduino code map Arduino?

If we use LabVIEW to write data in series to an Arduino, can send us on the Arduino code before you run the VI so that the Arduino has something to do with the signals it receives from LabVIEW? Specifically, we want to use the digital IO pins to read into a signal on the Arduino (provided in series by LabVIEW) and do something with the signals as a LED lights up. Is that what most people do?

Our project includes a parking meter and we want to use the Arduino by itself, but first we want to simulate the code using some signals that we want to move through LabVIEW. Basically, the meter said the Arduino, if they are paid, and if there is five minutes or less remaining on time. Based on this information and data from a PING sensor, we will determine which exit to turn off (a flashing LED to different frequencies to designate two different messages).

Sorry if my question is not clear or if it is trivial; my partners and I are very new to LabVIEW and the Arduino, and we try to get this working soon.

The LabView VI Arduino library is designed to work with the Arduino as a USB DAQ/DIO.

This isn't really what you're after...

I don't really know how LabView would be useful in this project.

  • Best way to run a LabVIEW VI, written for Windows in a MAC OSx environment

I've written a VI in LabVIEW 8.6 Windows XP and it compiled into a .exe.  Now, I want you to run this executable on a MAC OS x computer.  What is the best way to do this without having to buy a LabVIEW for MAC license or machine virtual Windows for MAC software?

    Thank you

    CJL

    CJL,

Yes, that should run.   Except... Your show is there any material?  To use all the functions that are specific to Windows (from the platform folder)? It relies on a video driver specific or sound card? It relies on mouse right click action?  All these kinds of things may or may not work because they are closely linked in the Windows operating system and the underlying hardware.  While the software itself will problaby execute, the programmay does not work as expected if some of these dependencies are handled differently by the Apple hardware.

I have not used VM but native running under Bootcamp works fairly well, again allowing the issues mentioned above.

  • Running a LabVIEW application on a MAC without LabVIEW yosemite

    Hi all!

When you compile the code LabVIEW on a Mac, you create a ".app" instead of a ".exe". I would like to run my ".app" to another Mac running with Yosemite (OSX 10.10) NI LabVIEW on it.

I downloaded the latest RunTime for LabVIEW on the Mac engine in order to make the application run, but it doesn't seem to work...

Someone there already is such a thing and would have a method to follow? :-)

    Thank you in advance!

    gvanhoeke wrote:

LabVIEW VIs are always compiled. You are probably talking about building stand-alone executable.

    gvanhoeke wrote:

Instead of the 'later', you need the runtime engine that matches the version of LabVIEW used to develop the program.

(Sorry, I have no direct experience with the Mac)
