RV180 share a printer between VLAN

I have a RV180 that I'm trying to setup in a church with 3 VLAN, I use the default VLAN 1 (10.0.0.xxx) for employees of office and all resources. VLAN 2 is for Voip phones and works perfectly. Then VLAN 3 (10.0.3.xxx) is a network of comments. I would like for the feedback network to have access to a printer with a static IP 10.0.0.50 (a Xerox WorkCentre) which is located on the VLAN 1 but not to have access to other resources on VLAN 1.

How could I go to set it up? I thought it would be a static route? But I was not able to run.

Hi Eric, I do not think there is a set of features to make a new access rule for the INTER-LAN communication. Access rules are built only for WAN LAN and LAN to WAN.

I suspect you could get to communicate without problem, but I suspect not, you would be able to limit a host specific to that resource, unless the WorkCentre Xerox had some sort of firewall/access.

    Hello

What security software is installed on your computer?

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

Try the steps in the following Microsoft article and check if it helps.

Sharing files and printers with different versions of Windows:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/help/sharing-files-and-printers-with-different-versions-of-Windows

    Method 2:

Disable the security software and check if it helps.

    Disable security software: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Disable-antivirus-software

Warning: If you need to temporarily disable the security software, you should reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

  • How do I share my printer between my two systems of Windows 7?

Some users find that they have a printer that is not connected to the network that worked well in a mixed Windows environment, but their two printers on Windows 7 (a host and a client) are not able to share the printer.

Windows 7 manages networks differently than previous versions of Windows.

The best way to start with sharing printers between several Windows 7 computers is to set up a homegroup. A homegroup is a way to allow different Windows 7 computers communicate with each other and share resources. Microsoft has a good article on the residential groups that includes links to various guides.

Once the residential group is installed, the next step is to set up a host of the USB printer.

This Microsoft article details how to enable files and printers, sharing, printer sharing and the main steps of adding the printer.

The first two sections are fine as they are, but I would like to expand on adding a printer shared on other computers to Windows 7.

This process tends to have the greatest success with printer sharing in Windows 7. Most USB printers only have a driver available in Windows.

    1. Select start > devices and printers.

    2. click on add a printer up.

3 if it is a network printer, it is not the standard current network printer. Select Add a local printer.

    4. Select create a new port with a local port for type.

    5. enter------------ without the <> symbols. The host name is the name of the computer on which the printer is connected to it. If you don't know this name, go to the host computer and click Start > right click on computer > properties. The name of the computer appears here. Share name of the printer has been selected in a previous step in the Microsoft article.

    6. click on Ok and the printer driver appears. Click Windows Update to ensure that it is the most recent list.

    7. Select the printer model in the list.

    8. follow the rest of the guests.

At the end of these steps, the printer must be shared from the host computer to the other computers on Windows 7.

A few important notes this configuration:

    1. only impression will be functional.

    2. the host computer must be on for printing to work.

    3. the host computer may enter sleep or suspension. This interrupts the shared printer on other systems.

With these steps, the printer must be functional on Windows 7 computers once more.

I hope this information is useful for some.

    Hello

    Maybe this can help.

Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.

Group residential network = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.

Working network = fundamentally similar to previous methods of sharing that allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.

    Public share
= network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks.

  • RVS4000 routing between VLAN static?

    Hello

I was wondering if the RVS4000 allows a static routing between the VLANS. I would like to have three VLANS, one for my cable system, one for my wireless network and one for my print server. I want the two VLAN Wi - Fi and to be able to get to the virtual LAN print server, but do not want the Wi - Fi and VLAN to react reciprocally. Is it possible to put up with this router without the need of additional routers or a layer 3 switch. Thanks in advance for any advice that anyone can give.

By default, the VLAN is entirely routed. You do not have to configure routing between VLANs. What to put in place the filter. You must filter the traffic, which you don't want to pass between the VLANS. Set up the ACL according to the needs.

  • Sharing a Kodak printer between win 7 64 bit and vista 32 bit

I have a kodak esp 3 printer connected to a vista 32 bit desktop pc. I share this printer on a wireless network in my house. I try to print from a laptop 64-bit windows 7, but failed to add this network printer to the computer windows 7. I think all I need are the x 64 drivers and add them via the systems vista printer properties.

We now print by saving the document in the "Shared Documents" folder of mobile access and then print from the vista machine.

After three long chat, phone and e-mail conversations with the technical support of kodak, what they say is this printer can't print wireless.

They do not understand, it is a shared network printer, and I'm not trying to print directly to the printer via wi - fi, because I know that that does not support this printer.

Any help, advice or where I could get a kodak 64 bit print driver would thank you very much

Hi, I had not checked on this for a while, I couldn't get anywhere with x 64 drivers for Kodak for us would simply send documents on the Vista desktop, and then print them. So finally last night I upgraded the Office to Win 7, the upgrade price on Amazon is great-now $89, all problems are solved, put in place a homegroup print, share files and listen to music and video. Big difference in the performance of old desktop of 3 years. I should have done this 6 months he is a. sorry I have no solution to the original problem. Thanks - Matt

  • RV180W ping hostname between VLAN & different subnets

    Hello

I had a RV180w with 1.0.3.10 closes. According to the name of position, I'm not able to resolve host names between different VLANS which affected to different subnets, for example, allows said I have the following hosts:

    CASA:

    192.168.241.100/25 (wired - VLAN 1)

    Router: 192.168.241.1

    DNS: 192.168.241.1

    XBMC: 192.168.242.100/25 (Wi - FI - VLAN 2)

    Router: 192.168.242.1

    DNS: 192.168.242.1

If I try to ping from two sources to one of the two destinations, the only one I get is a message 'impossible '.

Authorized additional information routing between vlans & proxy DNS and if I try to look at the hostname under the 'nslookup' command, I could not resolve the host name, but if I do a "ping - a 192.168.241.100 ' it is said ' response from CASA (192.168.241.100) blah blah blah."

    So what I'm missing here?

Hi Bruno, you can usually solve different subnet host name because the host does not know the subnet that treats it as a security measure.

Disable the firewall feature on your computers and which must fix, otherwise you will probably have to change the lmhost files.

  • How to share a printer Canon MP 970 with a WinXP Dell laptop and a Dell of Win7 desk top?

I recently implemented a Dell PC in Win7 professional desk top which is ethernet connected to Verizon FIOS router home. This configuration has replaced a desktop Dell 7 years under Win XP computer. In an adjacent room, I have a Canon MP970 USB printer connected to an old Dell Laptop for six years under Win XP and connected wireless to the router home. I was unable to configure the latest desktop computer Win7 to share Canon printer. Older Dell/WinXP (replaced) desktop has been configured to share the printer Canon with Dell laptop, WinXP and did successfully...

In the laptop, I selected control panel > printers and faxes > sharing > drivers additional > environment, but can find no list for Win7. My thought is that the laptop must have the appropriate driver that allows it to recognize the request of Win7 Office to share the Canon MP970 printer. Thank you fo all help and advice from the community can offer.

    GrampyH

    Hi GrampyH,

If you have a printer connected to your computer, you can share it with anyone on the same network. No matter what type of printer you have, as it is installed on your computer and is directly connected with a USB cable or other type of printer cable. The people from that your choice to share the printer will be able to use it to print, as long as they first locate your computer on the network.

Printers that are directly connected to a network and not connected to a computer are available to anyone on the same network. These printers must have a network port or wireless connection that allows them to connect directly to the network.
