Computer automatically "wake up" and unable to wake up mode standby when left idle

original title: screen saver does not work, the computer automatically "wake up". Computer regularly become inactive and cannot be stopped! Forced to pull the plug.

We have a Vostro 200 with windows vista. The computer still works very well except for two major problems. The first: the screen saver does not work. The screen goes black minute before the screen saver, but when it needs to switch to screen saver mode, the fan in the computer is a thud and the screen turns back on. The second: If the computer is not alone for extended periods of time (hours to end upward in a weird semi-off state). The monitor becomes completely black (the power light goes from green to orange) and the power of the Tower light flashes continuously. If we move the mouse or the keyboard, nothing happens. We are not able to easily to "wake up" the computer. If we hold the power button down for 10 seconds, the round ends. If restart us the breath fan aggressively, but the screen will not display anything. The only way to get the computer working again is to turn off the switch that powers the computer for ~ 1 min and then put it back in again once. After a time abnormally long start-up, the computer goes to the exact same State it was when he went to the black start (the documents are always opened ect.). Does anyone have a similar experience? I am baffled and could use some help. Thank you!

Hello

I would guess that you have a hardware driver that is not fully compatible with the sleep mode function. I would check with the manufacturer and system of the various devices for driver updates (do not use Windows Update to do this). If this fails to solve the problem, you can turn off "sleep" (Control Panel/Power Options, check the settings of the engine at idle) or reduce the State of "s" that the system tries to get into the BIOS system (if available).

Two days ago, restarted my computer, which worked very well for a few hours, (& a few years) suddenly automatically.   He then ran fine for about 4 hours when it restarts again.   He has now made that ~ 20 times, some time to restart after 5 minutes.   It also does if I connect on behalf of my wife, or if I boot in safe mode and log on as an administrator.   As much as I know I have no virus problem, but I can't be sure that it didn't stay on long enuf to run my antivirus program to the end.   Malwarebytes and Superantispyware both showed no problems two days ago, but now they also will not work I tried to backdate the system (System Restore) to last week, but failed, perhaps because I removed an old Norton SystemWorks program two days ago, when I got hurt, because I thought that maybe that's the problem.

    Hello

    1. have you made changes on the computer recently?

There is a possibility that another application is at the origin of the conflict with Internet Explorer. Let us check in safe mode with network and then we can check in clean boot to find the root cause of the problem.
    Step A.
Please check if you are facing the same question when working in mode safe mode with networking.
    a. restart your computer.
    b. when the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information tap the F8 on your keyboard key repeatedly until you are presented with the screen Windows Vista Advanced Boot Options.
    c. using the arrow keys, select the desired option of Mode without failure.
    d. press the Enter key on your keyboard to boot mode safe mode of Windows Vista with networking.
    e. when Windows starts, use check and Internet explore if the problem persists.

  • Why my computer won't start, and where to go safe mode?

I had nothing but problems since then tried to switch to Windows7.  Several attempts over the past two weeks, none worked. Then started getting the blue screen of death at random times. Today they came more often until it got the point where computer should restart and go straight to the blue screen of death.
Tried to reinstall Vista, I have had to do in safe mode, because I couldn't have what. Did not exist then. Now, I can't find it. Don't ask me why. If I knew, I wouldn't be here.
Vista has been subject to half way through installation when SURPRISE! Blue screen of death. After that, he says that there is no disc in the drive, then no player, then not whatever. I remember even now, I'm so frustrated. Changed the CMOS to boot from the CD Rom settings, did not a thing. Can't find safe mode more. Never heard of that one before.
What he does now is during startup, it happens at "Verifying DMI Pool Data data... ", and then says"disc error occurred, press Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart. " So now, it's in this endless loop.
So, is he dead? I'm afraid to change other parameters, because it's a white box. He got 2 readers of DVD, which now seem unnecessary. It is also a RAID configuration, and I never dealt with more than 1 hard drive before. At one point, I got to a screen (no idea how) that allow me to achieve a memory check. If I remember correctly, he said that memory was fine, but there was a hardware problem?
Any ideas?... Anyone?... Beuller? ... Beuller?

Thanks for the reply. I finally get it working again. Find an old email of the person who built it, and fixed it without delay. There is nothing wrong with the hard drive, it was fine. In fact, 'they' were very good. The problem is in the bios settings. After I changed it to boot from the CD drive and it did not work, I put in some way something to the default settings. Big mistake with a raid system. He apparently wanted to a single hard drive, and this computer has four. Or is it 5? How long I forgot. The user then, stupid mistake.
I will, however, never try to reinstall Windows 7 on this computer. If someone wants to give me an old, used computer, I'll try, but I got to risk it.

  • Windows 7 automatically wakes from sleep mode

I had problems with Windows 7 64-bit Professional automatically wake sleep mode. If I put the computer to sleep then come back a few hours later, he is still awake. I tried to disable the ability of the network card, mouse and keyboard to wake the computer, but he always wakes up alone. I also ran 'powercfg - devicequery wake_armed' cmd and it does not display a single device. Is it possible for a current program reactivate Windows, and if so, is it possible to understand that one? I want Windows to wake up only when I push the power button.

  • computer randomly goes into mode 'sleep' when typing

I have a new Acer Aspire 4820 t running windows 7 Home premium. I have a problem with the computer will randomly in mode 'sleep'. This seems to happen especially while I'm via remote desktop, although not entirely. The computer does not heat and I turned off "sleep" mode completely or at least thought I have.

    Dear Mike,

Try this by the solution of the box. It worked for me:

    Dear mn2rgorillaz,

I am a computer repair technician, and suddenly one day I started having the same problem, 12/09/2011 in fact.  I tried everything, reboot the computer, the bios flashing, change all settings to never sleep and none of them worked.  I always had the same problem with my computer go to sleep in the middle of my typing, all random, of course, I could type a paragraph or a letter and PAF suddenly that he would go to sleep.  I was very frustrated, I sat for an hour and has thought of everything that had happened that day to try to understand what it might have been.  I didn't think the worst (bad mother).  It took me a little bit, but it finally hit me.  I bought this pretty new braclet that day, one of those magnetic which is supposed to help with arthritis and carpol tunnel syndrome.

As a computer tech, I felt really good because as all of us in the field will tell you computers + magnet = cloudy.  I do not think that anything of it when I bought and had already forgotten that I was wearing it.  Bingo, it took off about 10 minutes ago and I was seized as a crazy for woman.  No problem what so ever.  Just thought I'd throw it out there in case you might just wear the said kind of braclet.

LARGE Leah, I think you nailed!

My acer as3810T started with this mysterious behavior also and I have also updated the BIOS, update of office, ran several optimizers system, etc that does not.

Now that you mentioned the magnets. I hurt my hand and my mother recommended to put a few small magnets the base of my thumb which should have the effect of acupuncture without needles.

Now I type with one hand (the one with no magnets) and of course the PC never sleeps in the middle of the sentence.

Great shot! That's what I call thinking out of the box! I'd never get one. Thank you so much for sharing your insight.

    Cheers from the Brazil

  • Computer goes to sleep and won't wake up

A few days ago my computer started not to wake sleep cycle.  It goes into hibernation and don't wake up with a jerk of the mouse or by pressing the buttons on the keyboard.  I put the display to sleep for 4 hours and 30 minutes, but she falls asleep before 4 hours are rising and then don't wake up upward.  I have to press the button for a few seconds to do to turn off and then restart.  If I press a button on the screen when the computer is in standby it gives me a message that the signal of the computer has been lost.  Anyone has any ideas how to solve this problem?

    Hello

Look at all the features associated with sleep and ensure that it is only sleeping and not hibernate.

Some computers sleep mode will not let you wake up mouse etc. You have to push short s to the power Witch (as mentioned above by WillTel).

It is possible that your computer never before slept and was just to go off the screen.

  • Wake Hibernate mode computer system using Task Scheduler

How can I set schedule using the windows Task Scheduler?
I am using windows 7 Ultimate.

A lot of PC may wake up only from hibernation while they are plugged into current alternative.  Task Scheduler alarm setting can, in these cases, only the reactivation of sleep.

I got this restriction when I checked the explanations allowing reactivation in my BIOS.  The manual of your PC, the PC manufacturer's Web site & their user forums may also have explanations of this.

The key to enter the BIOS during the boot can be displayed on the screen, while the PC manufacturer name and can also be included in the manual of the PC.

    Hello

Please provide information for a better understanding of the issue.

    1. what was the recent change in hardware or software performed on the computer before the question?

    2. are you having the same problem when you Hibernate the computer?

Check the display driver for power management problems.

    Method 1

Check if allow this device to wake the computer is checked in the Device Manager.

    a. click Start, type Device Manager in the start search box and press ENTER.

    b. Select graphics cards, it will display your display driver, right click and select Properties.

    c. Select the power management tab.

    d. check the allow this device to wake the computer check box.

    e. repeat these steps for the network adapters and the mouse as well.

If the problem is not solved then continue to.

    Method 2

Remove both power on your computer and check to see if that fixes the problem.

    Reference:

Change, create, or delete a power plan (scheme)

Try to create another plan of the power of your computer and check if the problem persists.
