Safari causes freezing requiring a hard restart

Safari OSX 10.11.4 my iMAC started recently causing many freezes a day which could only be corrected by a hard reboot - power button. After you run disk utility and reset pram - no change. I stopped using Safari & switch to firefox and the problem did not appear for 3 days.

The reason why was that I switched from PC to mac to get away from these boring system hangs. I've seen a lot of messages from people with similar problems, but I don't know how to decide which of the hundreds of different suggestions will actually solve the problem. I hope someone can give me advice. Spending countless hours trying to fix software problems are not my cup of tea. Maybe it's time to give a PC another try.

Safari is the gel on a particular site or it freezes after a certain amount of time on any site?

Are you running a mac Anti Virus or 3rd party cleaning or the management software (clean my mac, guardian of mac, etc) - If yes remove immediately, AV Mac is not as flexible as Windows AV and especially it is not necessary and the management software is not compatible with the integration already has OS X and it will cause serious problems.

have you removed your external devices (except keyboard and mouse) to see if there is a mismatch?

If the problem persists report post and etrecheck here for the volunteers can analyze it

I'm running a machine oldest, but with a new installation of Windows 7. Until the last update, I have not had any problems with versions of Firefox since my last OS install. Now, when I'm in the latest Firefox 23.0.1, I sometimes get gel that blocks the whole machine and need a hard reboot. I'm always diagnose, but so far the only constant I know is Firefox. I have not experienced the same freezes using IE.

Sometimes I think that freezing that happens when I lose control of the keyboard or the mouse during a session of Firefox, but after 1-2 seconds, they both return. Usually, it just freezes. Most of the time, it so happens that I'm away from the keyboard get coffee or something. It is so transparent, the only thing that tells me that the gel is produced (other than the loss of the mouse and keyboard) is the time of the system is still a few minutes ago.

    Hello

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. As this feature has been added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there are still some problems.

You will have to perhaps restart Firefox for it to take effect, so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.).

    Then perform the following steps:

    • Click on the orange top left Firefox button, then select the 'Options' button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to tools > Options.
    • In the Firefox options window, click the Advanced tab, and then select 'General '.
    • You will find in the list of parameters, the checkbox use hardware acceleration when available . Clear this check box.
    • Now restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6s

    Hello

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any problem. After the upgrade, I can't click on links when you search something on Google in Safari or by clicking on a link in the E-mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried to wipe data/cache of Safari history, close all applications and restart the phone (ordinary and now the two key power-house), by disabling form of all sorts of settings settings of Safari, but no luck... Anyone with an idea how to sort?

I have the same problem with Safari, mail and messages. The links work with the app gmail links work in Chrome, but only with a long click to get the option to open in a new tab. It seems that this already happened with 9.2.1 but I couldn't find an answer that solved the problem. I don't think that has begun until 24 hours after the update. iPhone 6 s + 128 GB 9.3.

AT & T has had a wide spead failure last week that caused an interruption of 27 hours of my Uverse cable - int. - phone. You can restart all - everything connected to the AT & T bits and which includes the Modem and your box AT & T U-Verse, too, if you can't stand to do.  The problem with the U-Verse stuff is that he doesn't like outages of electricity and stuff tends to miss a bit catastrophic subsequently.  I realize your computer and your printer are not connected to the U-Verse box is said by the way.  The smile.

  • Adding RAM causes freeze or blue screen. RAM works well with Win XP

I upgraded from Win XP to Win 7.  I had problems with the installation so I removed all non-essential equipment and was able to complete the installation.  When I add more RAM, I had emoved (two DIMMs of 512 MB) to the current 1 GB DIMM, Win 7 either freezes or I get a blue screen after boot up (it does not boot up to the desktop computer).  Even RAM works very well with my old XP OS (I did a disk clone before moving to Win 7).  The card motherboard BIOS is up to date (according to eSupport) and DIMMs are the same characteristics (a 1 GB DIMM and two 512 MB DIMMS for a total of 2 GB).  Windows 7 works very well with just the 1 GB DIMM in memory 1 of 3 location, but any combination of causes freeze or blue screen.  Is there something on the way Windows 7 manages RAM which is causing the problem?  If so, is there something I can do to solve the problem?

try running Memtest86 +, which runs from a floppy disk or CD and should eliminate or
confirm whether your one or more of your sticks of memory are bad or the values of the SPD in the BIOS are correct.
Let it run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or several hours, so no errors at that time then your ram is OK.

    Hi Robert,.

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. Sorry to hear that you are having these problems with your iMac. I'm a little unclear on the exact nature of the issue you describe (how many times it happens, if there is some kind of trigger, etc.), but if the freezing of the whole system seems to be linked to Safari, you can try to reproduce the problem under a test user to see if it happens again. You can find information and troubleshooting procedures described in the following article useful:

You can also see if what you are experiencing is a question of depletion of resources (memory/RAM pressure, high utilization of the processor, available disk space, etc.). If so, then this article can also be useful:
