Sam 2710XDVD, memory upgrade problems

Hi all

I just bought a 128 MB dim for my knees, but it recognizing only 64 MB, I think that I did everything as told in textbooks, but I can't find "Toshiba Hardware Setup" link for updating memory. I have Win XP. Any suggestion?

Hello

in a first step, you buy Toshiba memory Modules'ed?

If so, check the Partnumbers below:
128 MB PA3005U
64 Mybte PA3004U

Secondly, this laptop is preinstalled with Windows 98, Windows XP no!

If the information contained in your manual are based on Windows 98.

And with this operating system is a Toshiba tool, called "Toshiba Hardware Setup".

But this tool does not work with Windows XP.

But, no matter, as a first step, I would check the memory you buy' ed.

But beware: this notebook can handle just 192Mo!

Good bye

Recently saved this PC of my friend tries to throw it. Everything is fine with the PC. It works perfectly and there is no material visible failure wihtin the PC either. He just bought a new and had no need for this one.

Before turn me this into a House mutli-purpose server, I decided to upgrade the RAM.

So I did some research and found this page: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01883661

DDR3 240-pin DIMM 1333 MHz non - ECC, Max 4 GB per DIMM slot, Total Max 16 GB module.

I went and bought RAM Corsair. Link to the product: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/cmv4gx3m1a1333c9

I decided to get 2x4gb and upgrade later if I felt the need.

I was happy to install in the PC. one in DIMM 1 slot and the other in the DIMM 2 slot.

    BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!

I thought that maybe the slots are wrong, maybe they have to odd numbers then numbers.

So I changed the RAM of DIMM 2 DIMM 3.

    Once again, the annoying ringtone.

I even tried leaving just the 4 GB DIMM 1 and tried to start the PC, but nothing helped.

I tried a lot of different combinations with the end result is 5 annoying beeps.

After that I thought that maybe, just maybe, an update of the BIOS can change things.

So I installed Windows 7 (I can't stand Windows. Arch Linux FTW) and performing a BIOS update.

I then installed the new RAM again. Yes... frickin 5 beeps AGAIN.

I am extremely disappointed at this point. I spent already $ 70 on a computer with free access.

I read the forums here, but I couldn't find a thread with a solution for me.

Is there anyone on this forum who could lend me a helping hand?

Any information would be gladly appreciated.

PS Please report any stupid error, I did. Stick and stones could not curb my bones.

  • Veriton M498G memory upgrade problem

I'm trying to age 5 years Veriton M498G memory upgrade my son of 4 GB to 12 GB now when I upgaded to Windows 7 64 bit.

The original 2 GB key still works fine and the 2 GB key that I added back a bit works very well too (4 GB total).

But when I remove all the sticks and put in a new 4 GB stick the computer crashes in the POST just after the BIO 1024Mo of RAM (!). Looks like that the BIOS does not like the 4 GB stick! Compensation of the BIOS did not help.

Back original memory makes the computer works perfectly.

I am well aware of the memory manufacturer/type compatibility issues.

I tried 4 different memory of 4 GB sticks from 2 different sources with no luck.

    My questions are:

    1. the Veriton M498G motherboard or BIOS has any limitation on the size of the memory card?

2 I missed a setup or configuration to let the BIOS see the 4 GB memery stick?

    3. a more recent BIOS help? (the computer uses the original BIOS from 2011)

    4. is there a solution runs the endless trial and error of purchase and return of USB keys?

    The system is:

    Acer Veriton M498G

    Processor: Intel i3

    S/N: PSVAQ03005 *.

  • X201i 8 GB memory upgrade problem

I want to update my RAM X201i 2 x 4 GB. I tried second pair of memory chips, but I always get the same result: memory is recognized in the BIOS, memtest86 falls down after a few seconds and restarts and boot OS also fails.

I tried without success after fleas:

    • Kingston SO-DIMM 8 GB KIT DDR3 1333 MHz CL9 (2 x 4 GB)
    • 2 x Crucial SO-DIMM 4 GB DDR3 1600 MHz CL11

Faster Crucial chip theoretically should slow down at the required speed, but it has apparently not so. Lenovo memory compatibility info for X201i explicitly suggest PC3-10600 DDR3-1333.

What could be wrong? Can someone show its configuration of 8 GB?

  • Satellite A105-S2051 memory upgrade problems

Sorry for the huge block of text...

This is not my computer, but a problem I need to fix nonetheless.
I use a Toshiba A105-S2051 and I want to upgrade memory.

When I have the original 512 and a 1024, it works perfectly, and I can move them to a port without problem.
I also have a PNY 1024 that I can replace the other 1024 with and it works perfectly even in the two ports, but when I put the two 1024, it does not work (starts and stops quickly and repeatedly).

Similarly, even if I let one of the 1024 in but remove the 512, computer does the same thing.

Is the computer laptop for any reason + need + 512 to work?
This is no logical sense in the PC world, but I have no idea on laptops...

  • Inspiron 15R 5520 Memory Upgrade problem

I have upgraded my laptop from 4GB to 12GB (4+8). After the upgrade, the laptop boots and runs very very slowly. My laptop came with 4GB ram 1600 single stick. I upgraded the RAM by adding another stick of 8GB same bus and same manufacturer. The BIOS shows the total memory as 2288MB instead of 12288MB. Windows detects total RAM of 12GB but boots and runs very slowly.

I have updated the BIOS from A06 to A07 trying to resolve the problem but with no luck.

When installing each RAM stick alone (4gb or 8gb), everything works fine, but the issue comes back again when both sticks are mounted together even when switching the places on the sockets.

    Looking for your kind support!

After the splash screen of the BIOS, attempts to result in video starting Windows of interlocked block repeated altered in system and model freezes.

F5 MASTS fails with graphics corrupted after several minutes. System is not responding.
Memtest 86 + fails almost immediately (permanent or not) with a splash of black character cells

These characteristics seem to be compatible, but do not work.
Suggestions of compatibility (ideally based on real experience) would be appreciated.

The problem is simply that the Vostro 3300 (and probably 3400) require low-density parts, and all samples tested were pieces of high density.

The distinction of high-density/low-density is not explicitly stated in any literature I can find.

For critical parts at least, the two latest les deux derniers chiffres figures product code indicates the density.

For example, CT51264BF160BJ is a high density of part (BJ ends), while CT51264BF160B is a part of low density (ends in B). It seems that G-Skill and many others can use parts of high densities.

According to specification for laptop, that your computer can be upgraded up to 32 GB of RAM.
Compatible RAM modules (verified by Toshiba) followed part numbers:
    2 GB DDR3L-1600-PA5104U-1M2G
    4 GB DDR3L-1600-PA5104U-1M4G
    8 GB DDR3L-1600-PA5104U-1M8G

Check it please these part numbers and use them to order of RAM.

In the past I ve used memory modules RAM Kingston for upgrade and there is no problem at all. Maybe you're trying to use Rams with different specifications.

  • G62-407DX portable computer memory upgrade problems

According to the documentation on my laptop, it supports up to 8 GB of DDR3.  It is currently installed with a key 2 GB of Kingston and a 1 GB of DDR3 Micron as it was configured by HP.  I tried to improve it up to 8 GB of memory PNY last night and met with complete failure.

When starting the BIOS detected that 8 GB of RAM was installed like Windows.  However, Windows indicates that 3,79 GB of RAM was usable and 8GB has been installed.  About 2 months ago, I got this exactly the same problem on a desktop computer.  The question is not in Windows because it is the 64 bit version of Windows 7.  It's actually the BIOS that is to blame.  On my desk, I had to contact the manufacturer to get a new version of the BIOS (the version I needed was not available on their website).  The problem with the BIOS, is that he lacks the feature "remapping memory."  Without the parameter, Windows will not be able to use all of the memory installed in the system.  The BIOS on this laptop seems to have basically all normal BIOS settings deleted, which is strange, but I can understand since it is a laptop and not a desktop computer.

After having the problem with memory, I checked my BIOS version and went on HP website to see if there was a newer version.  To my surprise, the version in my laptop (F.25) is newer than the version on the website (F.23)!  It seems that all the drivers and utilities on this laptop HP support page are old.

Can someone help me find a BIOS with memory remapping?  If there isn't one, I hope that HP sees that their BIOS has a problem...

    Hello snike3,

Sorry to hear about your memory problems. I came across your post, shortly after the purchase of 8 GB (2x4gb) of new memory for the same model specifications, and I started to worry that I would have problems too. I installed modules and all the 8GB are recognized and usable. I bought the laptop (HP G62-407DX) last week. Running the version of BIOS F.25 with InsydeH20 Setup Utility Rev. 3.5 and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, like you did. The new modules passed the test of the memory configuration utility (I'll run it through something more rigorous later).

I know that this does not solve your problem and I apologize, but I hope that it provides an overview. Maybe you received a module of memory of buttocks, or it is not fully inserted into the slot of memory? Maybe the PNY memory modules play well with these laptops? If it's any consolation, the memory that I use is model G.SKILL F3-10600CL9D-8GBSQ:

If possible, you might want to consider RMA'ing your PNY memory and buy memory, that I linked above. He has been working for the last two hours firmly. Please reply/re-post when you have a solution to your situation.
