Samsung Evo 850 and mid 2012 MBP
I tried every way to get this macbook to boot from that disk of 250 GB samsung evo 850. He sees it as a disk, but cannot boot from it, can't take it apart during the partitioning, etc. I can connect via an external USB SATA connector, format, install 10.8 or Yosemite and it works perfectly, but when I move the drive to the HD connector internal and try to start it, I get a circle with a line through it. He sees the player when I hold down the option, but cannot boot from it.
Is this a configuration unsupported or I do something wrong? I need to find a 840, which seems to have specific firmware mac and use it? I ran all the updates that are available via the USB SATA connector. I thought it was an update needed at first, but none was available.
Any guidance is appreciated.

My Machine: Macbook Pro retina no Mid 2012
What I wanted: install win 8.1 pro 64 bit on a second SSD completely (without Partition) / replace the optical drive
My problem: everything works fine, but no sound. Drivers seem to be the cause:
1. I put the own ssd in the main Bay + optical drive with disk 8.1 win
2. Windows disk initialized and installed windows 8.1 64-bit without errors
3 install the drivers for bootcamp support
4 returned the Mac ssd go back to the main Bay and put the ssd of windows in the caddy and then in the optical Bay
5. starting is by holding alt and choosing between mac os, recovery and boot efi (which contains windows)
What I tried (all of the following are ineffective):
1 reinstall/repair drivers bootcamp support from different sources (of the download on the website of apple and the bootcamp assistant application)
2 reinstall the realtek drivers
3. how to install intel drivers graphics hd 4000 (found a source who said it would do the trick, there is no)
4 uninstallation of controller high definition Audio (it always seems to come back)
5. manually download and install the drivers http://www.stuffedcow.net/files/CS4207_WinVista_Win7_32-64-bit_6-6001-1-30.zip cirrus
I get the following error:

That I need clarification on:
I found found some sources say that installing windows via EFI mode causes no sound, but I'm not sure if the way I installed it is considered to be the efi mode as I have never had an option for efi mode. However when I start upward and hold option the name of the windows disk named ' BOOT EFI. Efi mode is how I installed windows?
What I need instructions on:
Some sources claim that I need to install windows in hybrid MBR mode however I do not know how I would install windows any differently than the way I did above. How can I go about installing, not in start efi mode, if I want to spend the whole ssd for windows / that I would do anything differently than the steps I listed up there?

Windows must be in the main Bay and must stay in the main Bay after installation. You can either use the wizard of BC and create a USB installer which will also create a legacy BIOS/MBR W8.1 (default value for your specific model) or if you choose to do it manually, make sure that the icon of Windows from the installation media, not EFI Boot.
If you start from the DVD W8.1, the default value is Boot EFI. BC Assistant did a bit of work for you, in order to avoid the is not a good idea.

Does anyone else have bad WiFi reception on 15 mid-2012 "MBP with screen high resolution?"
Tried a new card from the airport, no difference. The WiFi reception is half, at best, of any other Mac. Get my wife of twice the reception of mid-2010. Like the hundreds of other Apple devices I have my mini iPhone and iPad Pro service.
Is there something on the antennas in this screen? It's in this way that I bought it. Madding simply as a tech. At least I know if my laptop can connect to WiFi, just about anything can.

Can I use stock RAM since the mid-2012 MBP aluminium end-2008 MB?
This is my first post so I apologize if it is not posted in the right place.
I have a late 2008 aluminium MacBook (2.0 GHz) with 2 GB of RAM and a mid-2012 MacBook Pro (2.5 GHz) with 4 GB of RAM.
I want to upgrade the RAM of these two laptops, but in the most effective way possible. I wanted to buy an upgrade to 8 GB for my Macbook Pro for mid-2012, then use 4 GB of this machine to upgrade my end-2008 aluminium MacBook.
Is it possible to use the RAM from mid-2012 MacBook Pro aluminum end-2008 MacBook? Would be great, if so.

With cable of HDD to SSD Macbook Pro mid-2012
I've recently upgraded to SSD (Samsung Evo 850) of the HARD drive on my Macbook pro mid-2012. However, the installation of the SSD has been very painful. I tried to use in recovery mode disk utility, several times but it fails to remove or mount the SSD drive. I thought it was the faulty SSD. Then I hung the SSDS via a USB port and proceeded to install OS X on it (using my HARD drive). The SSDS works very well with the USB key, so I put it in and hooked up with the flex cable that was previously used for my HARD drive. However, this does not work, the operating system sees that there is a reader hooked, sees the name, size and etc, but does not charge, gives me the sign of question mark folder, which means there is no hanging drive. So I think it's something with the HARD drive, SATA cable. But the cable works perfectly when used with the HARD disk. So I was wondering if the HARD drive cable that comes with Macbook Pro mid-2012 is compatible with the SSD. I watched several videos of people the SSD HARD drive upgrade, but they all seem to be using the same cable. Any ideas what could be the problem or if I need a different type of cable? Thank you.

Your MacBook is looking for initial start-up by car but can not find.
Power on the Mac and hold down the 'option' at the same time, and then manually select to boot from the drive of choice.
Also, try this first:
I have a MBP mid-2012 13 inches and I did an upgrade SSD with a Samsung Evo 850-series (500 GB.). However, I had no problem.
I used Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the original disc for the SSD via a USB-to-Sata adapter.
My first start was slow because I don't have the SMC / PRAM reset my MBP was looking for startup disk.
However after my MBP starts very quickly. I got no problem with Samsung Evo SSD. They work very well with Macs.
Don't forget to activate the "pad" your non - owc SSD support.
Open "terminal app" and enter the command 'sudo trimforce activate' select YES, YES... and restart after completing

I know that apple says that 8GB is the maximum RAM.

I would avoid the Samsung SSD. If you analyze these forums, many users have experienced difficulties with the Samsung SSD. (Some are not) Note that Samsung is unable to talk about Mac compatibility on their web site. I think what to say.
I can recommend Crucial SSD based on my experience in the installation of three of them in my Mbps. OWC SSDS have an excellent reputation.
I support the Crucial RAM. I have 16 GB of Crucial RAM installed in two of my Mbps. 16 GB of RAM should present no problems for your MBP. OWC is also a great salesman of RAM Mac compatible.

M17x R3 using Samsung Evo 500 GB SSD
I tried all Intel drivers I can think of to get the Wizard software to recognize the Sata for my Samsung Evo 850 500 gb SSD interface. The drive is recognized by the software and said it is authenticated, but it does not recognize for the SSD ACHI or Sata interface. So I can't activate fast mode. Is there anyone who can tell me what driver to use with Windows 10 64-bit? The device manager says that it is properly installed and working properly. I have a Nvidia GTX 460 M and 3D display.

Although Dell does not support upgrading Windows 10 for the Alienware M17X R3 they provide Windows 10 drivers if you are looking for on their support site for a generic Alienware M17X R3. After a week of reading and trial and error, I got to work. Samsung told me it is plug-and-play and would work fine with my system. They refused to help me with the configuration of Windows or their software. If you try to add the 850 Evo to your system and you use Win 8 or higher it will not work in mode rapid on the Alienware M17X R3. It keeps to a red X for the operating system on the control of compatibility for fast mode. The Evo, even after switching to AHCI mode in the latest bios Dell (A12) for the M17X R3 would not recognize the new interface Sata to 6gbts per second. That's what I did to make it work:
(1) resettled bios A08 to leave the interface of the motherboard with the hard drive by using the updated drivers Sata III. A10 A12 & BIOS would not recognize drivers Sata3.
(2) select ACHI to the interface on the configuration of the Bios screen.
(3) boot to a CD to install a clean version of Windows 7 on the new Samsung 850 Evo 500 gb SSD after updated the bios A08 and switch to ACHI mode. Install Windows 7 - I used Windows 7 Professional, because I had two copies of it with licenses.
(4) I installed a dual-band wireless card from intel the 7260. I downloaded the Intel file named "wireless_18.20.0_e164.exe" to install the driver for the wireless card to add to the network.
(5) download the .net framework 4.5 from microsoft and installed first. It can save a lot of time.

This SSD will fit in my MBP 13 mid 2012
Just got a second hand Macbook Pro 13 "mid-2012 (not retina)." The guy upgraded to a 250 GB SSD and it is simply not enough room for me. I would like to double with a 500 GB SSD. I was looking for in Samsung SSD. Does anyone know if it would be compatible with my MBP?
Also has 12 GB of ram. It has a key of 8 GB and a 4 GB stick. I would like to just throw a full 16 GB. Will this work?

Let me discourage you to install the Samsung SSD. There was some problems with Samsung SSD (in addition to success). noticed on these forums. Note also that Samsung does not Mac compatibility on their web site. I can recommend the SSD from Crucial and OWC based on my experience and that of others.
Your MBP will support up to 16 GB of RAM. However, the best sources for RAM compatible Macs are also OWC and Crucial. When it comes to RAM and some brands simply do not work even when the specifications indicate they should the Mac are very selective. Long time lurker, first time poster.
Hello everyone. I own a Macbook Pro, mid-2012 model (101), processor intel i5. Last summer, I upgraded the RAM 16 GB and 2 TB HARD drive. Earlier, I noticed my MBP ran hot and strangled more often than usual. I searched online for solutions, and I read on the application of new thermal paste. I bought the kit ArctiClean as well as the Arctic Silver thermal paste from Amazon and took care with the process of cleaning and application using an iFixit guide how apply the paste. I reassembled the Macbook Pro and the display came on well, the fan was noisy out of control, and research also indicated that I didn't apply enough thermal paste, so I still once disassembled, added a little more dough based on the suggested amount and put it back together. This time, however, when I cut off the computer, the sound the chime that's happened and everything but the screen was black! I sat there for a while and the fire of backlight and the keyboard is come (which means the computer started), but there was no image, just black light. I double and triple checked all the connections the card logic to ensure that everything was good and safe, but there was no luck. I have reset the SMC and the PRAM again, no luck. I know that my warranty is void so I'm not the penalty to take it to an Apple store, does anyone have any suggestions?
PS - There is no drop or to the computer water damage
Attaches the MBP to a monitor. If the monitor is also black, which indicates a GPU problem. If there is a good image on the monitor, the disply or display connection is defective.
Don't be reluctant not to take the MBP to an Apple store genius bar. All appraisals are FREE, regardless of the status of the guarantee. Then, you'll know exactly what you are dealing with.

Turns out that the hard drive that I got this laptop when I bought it is not really meet my needs, and I'm looking to upgrade. I looked around, and the EVO of 850 SSD Samsung 500 GB seems a good choice for what I'm looking for.
I just wanted to check if my cell phone is compatible with this ssd. My initial assumption is 'yes' but before I drop money I wanted to confirm this. For reference, I went to the start with the 500 GB SATA hard drive, and I'm looking to upgrade the 500 GB Samsung ssd 850 evo.
I can provide the SN of my laptop for reference, if needed.

Currently, I discovered an old camcorder (Samsung VP-D371) that uses a DV IEEE 1394 cable entry. I have an old cable, but does not support the USB or firewire 800 appropriate.

FireWire converts freely back and forth between its various forms, simply by using the correct conversion cable (which differs from the others only by the provided number of pins and the link shape.
Most digital camcorders use the variety 4 pin, fireWire-400 without the supplied power cords.
Older Macs use the Firewire-400 variety with power, which converts directly to your camera with a cable from 6 to 4
New Macs using FireWire 800 varieties which has additional pins for drivers to push - pull on the data lines, so it has the connector 9 pins and can instantly transform 400 with a 9-6 adapter cable, or your camera with a cable adapter 9 to 4.
Some separate adapters are also available, but these should only be used in an installation permeant, because (based on anecdotal evidence) "they grow legs and disappear.
