I even tried the manufacturer's website and nobody says what version of the SATA it it. That suggests to me 2.0, but I don't like to assume.

Hello

All providers, not only HP, when they are nothing new, they shout louder and put it on their products. When they don't yell, you know what I mean.

Kind regards

Hi, I would like to know if my laptop (HP G4-1202AX) would support SATAII/SATAIII interface, if I put in an SSD? I checked Sisoft Sandra if my SATA Port is compatible with any SATAII/SATAIII Interface.

    Here's a screenshot of it.

Download and run theutility CrystalDiskInfo freeto identify the current disc and see what are the available transfer speeds.  If the speed.

SATA is a compatible specification down. This means that a SATA3 SSD will work on a notebook of SATA specifications, but only to technical SATA transfer rates. Your mobile phone is supported SATA disksso the answer he's suppost a SSD drive.

Crystal disk is a utility open source. I suggest doanloading the version without ads.

  • version SATA sr1500nx

I am considering the purchase of a 120GB Kingston SATA III SSD that is compatible with SATA 2.  I know that there are two SATA connectors on the motherboard, but I can't find information on what SATA version they support (hardware and bios).  Original SATA? or SATA 2?  The BIOS of the PC is a version of 2005 which preceded the introduction of SATA 3 and I do not think that the SATA2 spec lead until possibly early 2005?

Here are the specifications of your desktop Compaq Presario SR1500NX and its card mother A7V8X-(Kelut). According to this information, this model uses a VIA KM400A northbridge and VIA VT8237 southbridge chipset. VIA VT8237 southbridge is responsible for the communication of the IDE/SATA and is limited to SATA revision 1.0 with data rates 1.5 Gbit/s - 150 MB/s.

Please post feedback would be interesting to know what details SATA controller would be declared by these tools.

  • Controller SATA or SATA2 in Satellite M70-192

    Hello!

Did anyone here know what sata version is used for satellite m70-192? the toshiba product specifications web page has no info about it (ie http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=EU&BV_UseBVCook = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 111925 #0).
    Thank you!

As far as I know the laptop supports the SATA HDD controller.
You can also check using a software of free hardware diagnosis like Everest home edition for example.

But SATA2 hard drives are compatible with SATA controller, so in both cases, it should work.

  • Satellite L850-117 - support SATA III

I have a plan to change my old hard drive with the new SATA III SSD.

I searched Toshiba homepage on spec if it supports SATA III, but it is very difficult to find this kind of information. If I understand correctly, we must support SATA III for the full implementation of the DSS.

The laptop is Toshiba Satellite l850-117, Sandy Bridge (32nm Technology), by Googling it I found a few answers that if I have a Sandy Bridge, I also have SATA III support.

From the BIOS I can only change 'best performance' or 'better life' for HDD/SDD, nothing on the SATA versions.

It's the best spec I found so far

I have USB 3.0 support, I guess that's a good sign, but I want to make sure I get full performance out of it, if spending a lot of money on large SSD.

Can someone give me an advice?

    Hello

Why you n t install some diagnostic tools material like Everest Home Edition or another tool like SENECA Sisoft.
The two would be able to provide all the details and all information about the properties of material and pieces of equipment.

The L850 series is equipped with different material parts, but usually the ODD controller and the HARD drive is connected to the chipset (Port of Cougar / Panther point) and the chipset is connected to the processor (Sandy Bridge / Ivy Bridge)

However, in my view and from my own experience, the SATA ODD interface would support 150Mbyte/s max. I don't know about the HARD m drive but I guess it could be 300Mbyte/s (SATA II)

But please share the results provided by one of the tools mentioned.

    raks12345,

By design, all the newest SATA standards are retro-compatible with older SATA standards and will return at low speed as they go to work. So no matter whether a controller SATA 1 with a SATA 3 drive or a SATA 3 controller with a SATA 1 drive, or any combination with SATA 2 so, they should all work together very well.

The only exception in my experience, it's that some old SATA drives require a 3.3 volt, while most of the readers work fine without it. It is a power supply problem not a problem of SATA version.

  • "Reading DMA Ext" SMART error reported for a 27 "Mac (model end 2013)

    Hello

I have experienced a strange behavior in last week, where my iMac starts upward normally, but directly obtained subsequently very slow and lazy. Each program showed the wait mouse cursor und switch between programs by using the Task Manager did not work. If available, I could click through the mouse on a different program of an application window, but only to bring in the und before then the wait cursor shown here as well.

I had to reboot several times, until all behaved as usual.

I checked the State of the disk hard und SMART monitor indicated failures during the power on unit (UNC at LBA). And it seemed that this error has occurred several times (once at the start of the iMac, I retried several times).

I installed the tool console smartctl to get more detailed information and it reported an error count of 534 where were the last 4 errors of this type (history does not seem to store more errors). The last error reported was of type READ FPDMA queued (global error at LBA UNC).

I ran a SMART long test, which passed without error.

And if the system boots properly, there is no indication that the hard disk has a problem.

Someone knows something similar and has a suggestion, what to do? Is there something wrong with the hard drive, controller, plugging in the cable?

I really appreciate your thought and suggestions about this strange behavior.

Thank you for your support in advance!

  • ADED 2nd HD in 810 Elite HPE but now won't start

    Just bought a 135qe-810 w/Win7.

I'm moving my HD 300 GB Maxtor SATA existing my HP hpe-150ff to my new 810-135qe.  This isn't a bootable hard drive.  Data only.  Hung but now computer won't start; system goes into recovery mode.  Ouch.  I can see the drive in the BIOS and everything seems good.  Shut down and unplugged the HD Maxtor, reboot and the computer starts very well.  Brought back the HD in the older hpe 150ff and 150 boots and HD works very well.  Why can I not use this HD with the new computer.  If I buy a new HD, will it work?  Can I use more than one HD on this computer?

    Hey DocCoder...

I agree, adding a second disc, especially in this PC with 2 open housing should be child's play.

No matter how lucky you have another HARD disk, you can try? I have a similar PC (configure to order) same motherboard and one bunch of others in my lab here and they all work without a hitch.

As a test, I tried the disks SATA version 2.0 and 3.0, with a number of different manufacturers go all the way in 2007. Each of them appeared very well (some even had an OS bootable on them and has not caused any problems since SATA looks like for the first bootable hard disk from SATA 0).

There is no settings on your PC to change, it should just plug and play so to speak... So before you return the PC, find out if it could be the drive you want to put in it.

    Good luck.

  • 2000-2106TU HP: upgrade of the system for Hp 2000-2106TU

I want to update my laptop.

Please help me with the following information from Hp 2000-2106TU:

    (1) SATA version

    Frequency of the RAM 2)

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

The frequency of the RAM-DDR3-1333 and DDR3-1600 downclock speed 1333.

The chipset is HM70 Express is a low range for the Celeron and Pentium chipset double processors only. Intel has designed to allow a port SATA-III but often HP implements all the capabilities of the chipset in the actual design. The only way to know for sure what you have is to run a program like CPU - Z or Sysoft Sandra to tell you what the SATA speed is in the implementation. Even if the SATA is SATA-II it will not limit what you can do. A HARD SATA-III or SSD drive works perfectly.

You could evolve into the B970 processor but not a Core i3 or i5.

  • HP Pavilion dv8t-1000 CTO Notebook

I have the laptop with a GB HDD 7200 RPM SATA 500 that I try to resurrect by installing an SSD.

Before that, I need to know how to determine which version of the SATA this product currently supports. No sense in buying an SSD that is a newer version of SATA than the system can take advantage o, even if the SATA versions are retro-compatible.

I looked everywhere in the HP and Intel web sites, and they make it difficult or impossible to answer this simple question.

Information system MS do not return level SATA, nor does nothing from HP or Intel.

    Any ideas?

  • HP elitebook 8570w: advise the hard drive upgrade

    Hello

Recently, my hard drive stopped with the work. I have a HP elitebook 8570w. The current hard drive that had a 7200 RPM. Now, I noticed my laptop starts heating fast enough. I was wondering what hard drive, I could choose to prevent this from happening so fast.

Should I choose a SSD driver?

They are faster than a HARD drive?
They produce less heat, less power?

Should I choose a hard disk of variable?
I read that they are mainly used for NAS servers, would also be a good choice for a laptop?

I am looking for a new drive hard and then I'm picking why take an upgrade.

I hope you can answer my question and may have a few speculative.

    Thanks in advance

SATA 300 is SATA II SATA 150 SATA-I and SATA 600 is SATA-III.

Do not place too much emphasis on the difference. A SSD SATA-III is compatible with any computer laptop SATA version.
