  But if you mean an external HARD drive or USB key I think that it s is not possible.

  You can try it out and post your result, but I tried it on my Toshiba laptop and I can say s is not possible.

  The card on a laptop drive can t be upgraded. As far as I know it s soldered onto the motherboard and so it s not possible to exchange it with another model.

  So if you want to read cards that they are not supported for the internal card reader, you need to buy an external drive. I also have such a player external card of Kingston. It was very cheap and may read all available maps.

  Thanks for your post.  Vostro 3550 has a maximum of 6 GB taken in charge by the factory.  However, I have seen other users say that they have upgraded to 8 GB without problems.  The part number for 4 GB memory modules is A3558401-BD.  Because Dell is no longer manufactures the Vostro, you watch 3rd third party sites to, like Crucial.com or Parts - People.com for memory.
