Satellite 1400-503-fire flashing orange

Hello

I decided to try to fix my old laptop, but I'm stuck on something.
When I'm trying to turn the machine on, it flashes right in the following order of morse code:

-long =
. short =

*. - . . - - - .*

That could possibly say? I really don't want to not spend money fix at some point of service. Suggestions?

Hi qtong,

This means that your mobile doesn t start more, you get only this blink code, right?

Well, in this case, it seems to be a serious hardware problem and only an authorized service provider can help you because they have special tools to check what this flashing code means.

For now, I guess it has something to do with the motherboard itself but that of just my personal opinion.
Motherboard Exchange is really expensive, as you probably know, so I doubt that it would be useful to fix

    Hello

Yesterday, I turned on my labtop Toshiba Satellite 1400-503 model: PSI40E-03CSR-SW (on industry) but the screen was dead.
I removed the sector and put it on another taken decision-making and the screen turned on telling me the battery is low.

I removed the power and reconnected it. It worked.
Today, it's the same (dead screen) I removed the battery (always on the area), but nothing happened.

I replaced the battery it lit and the screen lit up for topic a minute, but then the screen died.

    Issues related to the:
-A labtop can always run on sector with a dead battery?
    - Or if the battery must be good to work on the sector?
-Can you remove the battery, and still works the labtop on food?

The computer is old about 6-7 years and the only time I use the battery is to be market even if I plug it into the sector.

    I hope someone can advise!

    Thank you

    Answers to your questions:

    1. Yes, a laptop can operate on sector, even with a "dead" battery

2 No, the battery doesn't have to be good, but it would be desirable to have a good state of market batt. installed.

    3. Yes, you can remove the battery and only work on sector. It makes no difference, but be careful when you remove the power to the machine. ;)

Simply by typing the reference battery in google, you can google for a new battery. The partnumber begins with "PA" and then a number.

  • Replace drive combo 2212 sd - r on the Satellite 1400-503

Hello world. I have a Satellite 1400-503 through the 2212 mixed sd - r drive that makes the problems on reading and writing of cd and dvd. I want to replace but freezes when I tried to boot the laptop with other devices. The same problem also came with the replacement of the hard disk. When I handed the former parts Notepad starts. I did a bios update without any results. The local representative in Greece (where I live) wants 400 euro to replace the drive. Any suggestions please?

    Thank you George Fazakis

    Hello

Unfortunately, it is easy not exactly to say why the laptop freezes. Maybe you used unsupported devices. You reinstall the Windows operating system after the replacement of the device?
If this is not the case, try it.

  • Satellite 1400-503 with a DVD + R problem

    Hello

I have a problem with my dvd - rom. family have burned me a dvd + R. Now I can't play it on my laptop. So I tested a dvd - R and it works well.

A friend of mine told me that I can change some configuration of something like that, then I can play both formats. Can someone help me with this?

    Hello

I don't think that it is a parameter to change. The reader must support the format.

It's not very often if the machine is not very very new. If you get this problem with the player integrated to your Sat1400-503, and it is not replaced by someone not supported, so I'm very sure that it does not support the DVD + R format.

  • Satellite 1400-503: what kind of RAM should I use?

It is pre-installed with 256 MB of RAM (I think) and I would like to enhance it with additional 256 MB in the free location. What kind of RAM I need? the preinstalled is a samsung with the inscriptions on it: Korea 0228 pc133s-333-542-81 L7A M46453254CT

    Hello

I want to clarify that you can upgrade the memory to 1024 MB.
As far as I know Toshiba recommend using these memory modules:
    PC133 512 MB (PA3108U - 1 M 51)
    PC133 256 MB (PA3086U - 1 M 25)
    PC133 128 MB (PA3085U - 1 M 12)

But as you mentioned the laptop supports modules SODIMM 144 pin PC133 .
In this case, you use modules with these properties.
But I prefer the modules Kingston or Toshiba. You know that no names module performance is not very good.

    Hello
Sometimes my l750 stop automatically (like if I removed the AC adapter) and power light and battery indicator two begin visualized in amber but still white Indicator DC IN and that while the battery is not connected to my pc
I saw this case once when the battery is connected and the AC adapter also, the same indicators blink and DC IN still white but the system still works and the pc doesn't stop. and when I shut down the operating system, only power light continues to blink at the slow pace.

Note: since a long time, I have a problem in the AC adapter cable, and I have to plug it in a way for the cable won't move or try not to touch or move the cable do not cut the power source. I think it is jailbroken at some point within the cable.

Looks like a hardware problem, maybe mainboard or cable DC.
    An FSL can fix.

  • Satellite S1400-503: 16-bit or 32-bit Cardbus type?

    Hi all
my PC Satellite S1400-503 (INTEL Celeron 1.33 GHz) has two PCMCIA slots: they are "16-bit" or "32-bit" Cardbus type? Are there commands through which I can get this information in the PC?

I ask this because I bought a card D - Link USB-2 must be used in a PCMCIA location and use it with a scanner (Canoscan 8400F) it seems that the data transfer speed is not very good: in fact, the scanner works by intermittent, stop and restart several times in order to transmit the image it seized in pieces; so, it looks like a problem of speed in data transfer and bandwidth of the PCMCIA slot may be involved in this.

Thanks in advance. Hefte - Bologna - Italy

    Hello

CardBus 32-bit is the satellite 1400-503/PC-Card supported 16-Bit interface and you can use two cards PCMCIA Type II or a PCMCIA card type-III.

  • Re: Satellite A105 - seeing of power started flashing orange/battery not charging

I have a satellite A105-4054, which gave excellent service. Yesterday, the orange started power light flashing and ceased to charge the battery. I had a second freshly charged battery, that I used instead and the power led still flashes in orange.

I checked the Original Toshiba charger that came with the device, with a voltmeter and it shows 15 volts, which is correct. The laptop starts normally with a freshly charged battery, but it does not load when it is plugged and the power light flashes orange constantly. If I remove the battery and leave the laptop plugged in, continually amber power light flashes and nothing happens (no voltage). I'd be happy to run just the laptop on AC, but it is not possible now

The toshiba power utility system icon, when the laptop is started on the new battery, flushing back and forth between the load and the battery, and the battery does not seem to charge. Previously, the power utility would show current alternative continuously when the unit is connected and the power light stay blue.

I love the laptop, because he rendered services superb and would like to keep. All reasonable solutions, please?

    Thanks guys (and girls)!

On this virtual path, no one can say with certainty what the problem, but after reading your detailed ad, I think there is problem with electronic power supply on the motherboard. Technicians with tools only special diagnostic can say with certainty what the problem is here.

In my opinion there is not a lot you can do about it, and in this case, entire motherboard must be exchanged. If you want to contact the nearest authorized maintainer, explain the situation and I hope that they can tell you more.

I can't boot from external USB cdrom to install windows as its internal DVD does not work

    Help, please

    > Ok I fix the battery problem was feeding me to change.
    Nice to hear that! :)

    > But I still can't start external USB cdrom
Have you checked if your laptop computer (BIOS) supports booting from an external USB drive? I doubt it would be possible on old Satellite 5200. If you exchange your CD-ROM drive. You can look on eBay for the part of second hand, they are a little cheaper. :)

  • Satellite Pro A120 - DC-in is flashing orange, why?

My Satellite Pro A120 DC - in flashes orange once I plugged my universal charger.
I read my user manual. It is said it can be caused by an abnormal voltage or a power problem but I don't know if my charger is the one bringing or there is a power problem.

The voltage is correct and I tried to plug in charger everywhere but still DC-flashes orange. In fact, I can t use my laptop when the charger is unplugged because its battery lows down so I can t use my laptop at all when he can load t.

It makes me think that maybe the battery is the problem. In any case, what is the problem at the start of DC-in flashing orange.

Please help me what to do. Thank you

    Hi jane18.

And what happens if you use the AC/DC to original Toshiba adapter that came with your laptop?

  • Satellite 2805-S201: AC power light flashes orange 8 times

    Hello

I worked on a Satellite 2805-S201 and everything was fine until I put a PCMCIA wireless with 3, 3V power.
After that, the AC power light flashes orange 8 times and recycle.

It comes with power supply, battery, AC and no battery installed, etc. If I pull out the power plug and the battery and then put both when AC is green and the battery may charge. As soon as I push the power button, I hear a light click on the right side of the device and then it goes into the amber cycling power.

Bulletins of support mentioned that the card could get damaged, but did not mention the unit itself.
No, the PCMCIA card is not always connected

    Any thoughts?

    Hello

The flashing provides a micro code which refers to the hardware failure.
But please don't ask me what might mean this code because in my opinion, only an authorized service provider can be read and can check in his manuals and documentations.
But it is of course, in most cases, it s a hardware problem of motherboard! ;(

Perhaps the external PCMCIA card was not totally compatible and damages of something on the map but it's only my personal suggestion to ensure what s bad hardware fault diagnosis would be necessary.

  • Satellite Pro M10 cannot start properly - AC LED flashing orange

    Hello

    I have a weird problem that I can't solve.

    (1) when my Satellite Pro M10 the plugged AC adapter and the battery, the AC led is green and battery led is orange.
    (2) when I try to turn it on, several times it not light and the dissepear of leds for 1 or 2 seconds and my AC led flashes orange. Sometimes it lights up as it should be.
    _________
When this problem occurs, it will take a lot of time before it turns normally. I searched the internet for a solution, but I couldn't find one.

I already removed the battery and try to turn it on, but it does not solve the problem. Or when I remove the AC adapter and try to start it on the battery itself.

I also removed the two of them and you press the button power on for 60 seconds. After that, it will sometimes start with mains or battery adapter.

My bios is updated to the latest version. (I've done this when he started only five minutes ago, but the problem is not resolved). I also believe that when the m10 is enabled and when I close it, it crashes also.

Do anyone know how to solve the poblem? Thanks in advance.

    Hello

These problems are very rare and shouldn't t happen if hardware or software is ok.
Power LED blinking orange means there could be a hardware malfunction.
It is a code flashing microphone and a technician can be read.
This code must be translated into the hexadecimal digit.

But for ordinary users it s not able to know what it means. In my opinion a power electronic malfunctions and must be verified by an ASP.

  • Satellite 1800-712 does not start - DC IN flashes orange

    Hi all.

My toshiba laptop Satellite s1800-712 has suddenly stopped working. Whenever I try to turn it on, I get the following blink code that repeats on the DC-IN power icon.

The icon flashes orange in the following diagram. 1 short, 1 long, short 5, 1 x long. Anyone know what this means?

If it helps, I use a TPA90DC APC travel power adapter PSU (as my original toshiba one broken. The APC unit is located at 15V.

I think it's a hardware failure, but that's all that can be easily fixed? I opened the laptop a few times to replace the CPU and clean, but I don't think that the fault is negligence on my part because I always open it in an antistatic environment. To be honest, this laptop to cost me too much money in modernization and if this fault is something that requires expensive repairs, I can just sell it for parts.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Mary,

The blink code is used to locate the real failure so that the repair technicions knowing where to start checking for problems. Unfortunately these codes are published not generally then I suggest that you call a Toshiba authorized repairer and ask their opinion on fault. This way you do not have to engage in costly repairs until you know how much they are likely to cost.

    Kind regards
