Satellite 1400 enters standby after 30 minutes when it is not in use

Hey all.

I just installed a module of 256 MB of RAM, so I now 384 of RAM. He moved, the computer between stand-by mode after about 30 minutes when it is not being used. I tried to change the power management settings, but when I click on power management in the Toshiba console, nothing happens! Even when I use the power management of the Panel (in windows XP), it tells me to use the Toshiba console! Help! How can I change the time before the computer between the stand mode?

See you soon

Hello

First of all if the Toshiba power saver is installed on the laptop so the electric windows options doesn t work.
All power settings should be changed or set the energy saver.
You must choose the energy saving mode, and then click Details
You should see 3 tabs.
Check the second power saver tab you can change some settings, also the stand by time. After this procedure, you must apply the change.
Also check the 3rd mode of the system power tab

    Hello

    What to say...

    Regarding the automatically close downs;
For me, it looks a bit like overheating. Maybe you should check if the temperature is not too high and check if the cooling modules are working properly and it can cool the laptop properly. Sometimes the dust inside the laptop could have a bad influence on cooling.

Regarding the system BIOS checksum bad - default configuration used:
Try to access the BIOS and set the default BIOS settings. Then save the changes and restart the laptop.

    Regarding the MS patch:
I found this Microsoft Knowledgebase document:
The STOP Error Messages troubleshooting 0x0000009F DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE in Windows
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/246243

It is said that this problem occurs when drivers do not properly handle power state transition requests.
The error message most often occurs during one of the following actions:
    -Closing
-Suspension or out of standby mode
    -Suspension or out of hibernation

Check solution proposals in the document of Microsoft.
If this does not help, I guess it's a hardware problem and you will need to contact the ASP in your country.

  • Satellite 1400-104 crashes after the MBR softwarepackage

    Hello

It is of a Toshiba Satellite 1400-103 (512 MB of memory). On startup, the Satellite works very well, no problems with surfin or broadcast, but when I run a main softwarepackage (such as Macromedia Dreamweaver or MS Word Excel), the PC freezes after a minute or two.
I feel that the fan suddenly starts turning and the computer crashes. The only thing I can do is turn off taking the startbutton about 10 seconds, then turn it back on.
I have already reinstalled Windows XP, but the same problem occurs after two weeks. My Antivirusprogramm works very well and I check every week on spyware and software malware.
Does anyone have an idea about this problem?

    Thank you

    Hi emoreau

Can you please tell me if there is the same problem without using this software package?

The cooling fan usually begins to work if the processor speed increases and run under full power. Is this software that you use a complex and superior application?

  • Satellite X 200 freezes after 15 minutes of inactivity

I'm tired of this problem: my laptop freezes after 15 minutes of inactivity and I can get it going again to reset. The problem was solved when I reinstall Vista, but after several months my laptop started hanging up. And my laptop is unable to install Tempro 2.0.3.

Please, help me to solve this problem and I don't want to reinstall Vista again.

    Hello

For me it sounds like that a 3rd party software application or is causing this problem because you wrote that after Vista reinstall, the problem has been resolved.

I put t know this software you have installed, but you need to remove all unnecessary applications as shareware or trial versions.
Then use CCleaner to clean the registry.
Visit the Windows update website and install all the updates that are available for your Windows.

In the worst case, you will need to reinstall Vista again. In my opinion a reinstall from time to time is normal and I have reinstall my laptop every year. So I often have good performance.

I tried to change the settings for toshiba power management, but they will not work any ideas?

The laptop turns off automatically without display of error messages?
This can be caused by an overheating problem!

How old is your laptop and you clean the cooling fans in the past?
If this isn't the case, I recommend you this doing.

To clean the fans, you can use the jet of compressed air that can be bought in most computer stores.
The problem is that dust and debris inside of the laptop prevents cooling modules works properly, and so the temperature increases to a higher level. This leads to the farm automatically from the bottom.

In my opinion, fans of cleaning might help with this problem.

more his game to power saving in power management and am making sure that the ventilation is not covered.

    > I know is not that it is a new laptop from dust. Should we do this?

Laptop overheating not even if some strong performance running applications or everything at stake.
You use the preinstalled Toshiba system?

You should test the laptop with system preinstalled Toshiba and published by Toshiba display driver.
The driver can be downloaded from the European pilot of Toshiba page!

Remember that this driver is already installed, because this driver supports the GPU overheating protection. This keeps the temperature low and decrease the performance if the temperature rises.

This is necessary because the laptop cooling modules are smaller than the cooling modules in desktop computers.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question on the Forums of community of Microsoft.

I would be grateful, if you can provide us with the following information to help us better understand the question?

    1. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

2 you receive error messages or codes to the computer restarts?

I suggest you to follow the below methods and check.

Method 1: perform the clean boot.

Place your system in the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. Check this question in the clean boot state.

Reference: How to perform a clean boot in Windows

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, read the sections "How to reset the computer to start as usual after a clean boot troubleshooting" in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

If the problem persists, try Method 2.

    Method 2: System File Checker.

You can run the System File Checker tool and check if it helps. SFC scan will scan system files corrupted on your computer. You can read the following article to use the appropriate System File Checker tool.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us

If the question did not resolve, try Method 3.

    Method 3:

You can view the steps proposed by cavehermitt in the following link:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-performance/Windows-7-computer-restarts-automatically-after/daeb457a-3509-4BE9-a85b-2935c8c3e108

Important: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    Hi Mark,

It seems to me that this is a problem that occurs when a powersaving/screen saver function is triggered.

I tried to disable any screen/Powersaving saver and see if the blue screen is.

You will find an article on how to disable powersaving features in vista here >

  • FF 8 stops downloading after 15 minutes when you don't surf not actively on the net at the same time. What can I do?

Everything works fine except when downloading more large packets of data. Se is not a problem, but when I let the computer itself, downloads stop after a short time. FF8 and Internet still work. Never had this problem with previous versions. Help, please. I really don't like to spend hours in front of the computer, clicking every few minutes on an internet page just so that downloads are not interrupted.

Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

See "basic troubleshooting: a new profile:

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "tools > Modules > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If this new profile works then you can transfer files from the old profile to the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.

    See:

It is possible that your antivirus software is corrupt downloaded files or otherwise interfere with the download of files by Firefox.

Try disabling analysis in real time (live) files in your software anti-virus temporarily to see if that makes working download.

See "Antivirus disable in Firefox preferences - Windows."

    Hello

The forum already contains these discussions where notebooks will freeze after 5 or 10 minutes of play. Have you read them?

Now it s not easy to say what causes this problem but first of all you need to install the latest driver of Toshiba display. Don t use non-Toshiba drivers, as they can cause the overheating!

Also make sure that you use the latest version of the BIOS and it s useful to clean the laptop time using a jet of compressed air.

    Hello

I think overheating is the problem. First of all, you can try is to clean the machine properly. I guess the CPU and graphics card works very intensive and produce a lot of heat. If the equipment cannot be cooled properly the laptop stops suddenly.

    Clean it up.

  • CC of Photoshop seems to hang for a few minutes when you import Lightroom CC using the Spot Healing Brush.

Recently updated Lightroom LR CC and CC updated Photoshop. When I "edit a photo in Photoshop CC", Photoshop seems to crash shortly after the image is loaded. Using the Spot Healing Brush just seems to hang the system for a few moments. Sometimes, I left the window and comes back only to see the large tracts of "to be edited" trails on the image. When they came, I have no idea. After an eternity, these trails are published. I have no idea where Photoshop is going and what is the cause.

It doesn't look like we'll be much help then, but you use a similar thread in the LR forum?  No, I see that it is the only wire you have anywhere.

This looks more like a LR problem, so go ask there as well:

  • How to restore a previous session after a crash when it is not available?

We had a power outage, and when my computer is back she just opened a blank session. Restore previous session was not offered as an option - it is greyed out. I tried (probably foolishly) closing and reopening.
Now, I read a lot of ways to restore them, but many of them that I don't really understand.
I found the profile folder and a copy of the sessionstore.
Instructions say to right click and hit properties and then select "previous versions". That's where I come off. I don't seem to have this as an option. There are "General" tabs, "script" of 'security' and 'details' all with several sub-options. I can't seem to find anything that says than previous versions. I even followed a statement that says to do on the record and not on the file, but there is no option called 'previous versions' on either.
    I'm (unfortunately) using windows 8.

To use an old sessionstore instead of the current file, first of all, close Firefox. Rename sessionstore.js sessionstore.old file, and then rename the sessionstore.bak -datetime sessionstore.js file. When you start Firefox, if it is set to restore the tabs and windows of the previous session should only pick up. If it is set to start with your home page, use history > restore previous Session.
