Satellite 1900-803 runs on battery only

My 1900-803 satellite only works on battery PWR. When AC pwr device connected, correct lights and AC power icon appears in the systray. But system turns off automatically when the battery goes down. Air conditioning unit seems to be ok and charge the battery as well as to show good indicators when connected to the led system.

The good people of suggestions? :)

see you soon
Ally

Hello Ally

In my opinion there must be some problem with electronic power which controls the supply. The strange thing is that the battery can discharge while the unit is connected to the power running.

In my opinion, you should also check power management settings. Is it possible that disable HDD is set to low balance time?

Good bye

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba satalite s1900-303 (model number-ps192e-00g1n-en) and I'm not.
I have somehow locked myself out of the laptop. I used to haver a password to use the laptop. This password is not only for the bios, it is also necessary for the operation of the laptop.

Somehow the password has changed and that's why I can't use the laptop at all. I contacted toshiba store and theyu said to use a loopback serial cable to fix it somehow and he also mentioned in an attempt to crush the bios with a new.

I would like to try this, but I can't find the Bios or drivers. I was wondering if someone can help me solve this problem please.

PS: When regestering on the toshiba site I had to enter the serial number for the laptop.
The model under my name says 1900-803 when the sticker on the laptop clearly said 1900-803

    Hello

    > I have somehow locked myself on the laptop. I put a password for the laptop. This password is not only for the bios, it is also necessary for the operation of the laptop.

I think that you have set the BIOS password.
Unfortunately, the BIOS password can be removed from the laptop if you n t know the old password.
You can not remove also the BOS password by updating the BIOS. If you would try to update the BIOS while the password is set then the ROM module flashes not properly and you laptop will not boot! It s dangerous!

Only Toshiba authorised service provider can remove the BIOS password. Ask the technicians!

  • Satellite 1900-803: Hi-Speed USB 2.0 card does not work

I have a portable satellite 1900-803. I recently bought and installed a Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Notebook Card, but it does not work. Manual of the card says that after the successful installation, I'd see a second 'USB bus controllers' heading which I did not. I even it was replaced by another one thinking that there could be some problems with the drivers, but it still does not work. whenever I plug in a device such as an mp3 player, a digital camera or a usb storage device, windows locks all of a sudden upward, won't move the cursor, the function ctrl-alt-del does not work and the worst of it, I can't turn off the machine!

the map shows that it runs on any 32-bit location.

I have the manual and the Device Manager to see if mine is a 32-bit, but I don't really know. This is probably the reason why it doesn't work? or is there another reason to make it work not? If this is the reason why, is there a way where I can upgrade my laptop's pc card slot to make it work?

    Help, please.

I posted this question yesterday morning and did not get a single response. is it because it has to do with an older laptop? Please, someone, help...

    Hello

Have you checked the Bios? I guess that the Bios Toshiba was preinstalled on your laptop. Am I wrong? There should be an option to change the PC Card controller mode.

Here, you can change the mode of the automatic selection, CCIP compatible controller or card bus/16-bit.
If the card supports 32-bit so you should use the 16-bit option.

I think you should play a little with this option and possibly that the card will work.

  • Satellite 1900-803: how to install a USB 2.0 port?

How to install a USB Port of 2.00
    Where can I get a?

    Hello

As far as I know Satellite 1900-803 supports Cardbus 32-bit/PC-Card 16 - Bit interface and you can use cards PCMCIA Type II (x 2) or Type III (1 x)
Before you buy the PCMCIA card to USB you should check if it's compatible with your laptop.
But I agree with Quad. The PCMCIA card is a good solution to use USB 2.0

  • Can external CD-ROM, I use it to restart my PC (Satellite 1900 803)

I have a Satellite 1900 803, my CD internal Rom cannot read the recovery disk, I think I have an external CD-ROM to use it for my recovery disk. Has anyone tried this before and I have to install a driver. My laptop has a USB port. Appreciate the advice and comments. Thank you

    Hi André,.

You will find that you will be unable to boot your laptop using a USB attached CD. I have yet to find a usb device which will start successfully.

I suggest you to check the recovery disc in another computer first to check if the problem is with the CD itself or your existing internal CD.

  • Advice on which new battery for Satellite 1900-803

    Hi all

I am looking for a spare battery for my 1900-803 Satellite. The battery is PA3166U-1BRS, and when I get on a popular auction site I get a number of different opt, Li - ion:

    1:14, 8V
    Capacity: 6600mAh
    2: 14.80V
    Capacity: 6000mAh
    3: 14.80V
    Capacity: 5850mAh
    4:14, 8V
    Capacity: 4300mAh

So who is the most appropriate? As I understand it, they are all compatible. I suppose that more 'mAh' best, is that correct? Price is not a problem, just performance!

    Thank you all very much!

    Pablo

JohnnyS if you're out there you could make it three out of three for me!

The battery that provides a higher mAh value is much better, because the performance is stronger and you can run much longer Notepad using these batteries.

This is why I advise you to buy a battery that supports a capacity 6600mAh

  • Satellite 1900-803: what are the specs of the PC card slot?

I have a 1900-803 satellite. can someone tell me where to look whether its pc card slot is a 32-bit or otherwise?

    Hello

I think that information that you might find in the manual of Toshiba which must be preinstalled on the laptop.
On my laptop, I found manual and there is lots of useful information about my unit.
But as far as I know this laptop supports 32-bit/PC-Card 16-Bit interface Cardbus and PCMCIA Type II (x 2) or Type III (1 x)

    Additional information:
In the BIOS, it should be possible to change the settings of PC card.

  • Satellite 1900-803 goes out, often during the movement of the screen

Hi all, any help on this would be GREATLY appreciated.

I've had my laptop for at least 5 years and she has been a wonderful servant, despite a few minor problems (fan necessary replacement, battery kaput). Recently, I thought I have rewarded it with a upgrade and I bought 512 MB of RAM. After missing two easy access memory locations, I opened my poor baby upward, practically to dismantle everything.

I was delighted to learn that he worked at a speed of nearly-ideal and seems happy as ever, she was re-Assembly. Once that XP had started I thought would run anti-virus and spyware (to see how fast she could go) and adjusted the angle of the screen that I am comfortable. Disaster struck. She died. Just like that. All the lights went out. No beep, no nothing.

In order to get her started again I had to remove the power cable, plug it in again (seeing how to power lights) and press the power button / stop. I went through this process a few times before a process of elimination has taught me that if I try to set the screen it turns off. I disassembled, reassembled to him. Saw nothing wrong. All his bits were in the right place.

Soon, I came to the conclusion that she would never be the same again. I got simply avoid touching the screen. However, trying to put this post a few minutes ago it off again. This time I'm not sure if it was my typing which has transformed its judgment or if there could be another problem? My hunch is that it is a connection problem.

The only time that that such a thing has happened in the past was when the fan was not working and that the processor overheats it would be closed. The fan now works well.

I could just claim on home insurance, however, it's a good laptop and I owe it to him after so good service to fix him up to my best.

OTHER POSSIBLE CAUSES: It has not currently a working battery, I recently installed 512 MB of ram (although now, I take what it make no difference. Problem remains.

Thank you very much for your suggestions polished!

    Pablo

I followed this post and can I just say that I am happy that your machine is to life. Good that there are some users who keep some attention on their babys...

  • After the upgrade of RAM Equium A100-338 runs on battery only 30 min

I've had my laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-338 for over 2 years now and the other day that I upgraded the RAM to 4 GB to 1 GB, I noticed that the battery level is low and I can't get to the 30-40 minutes out of the battery max. There generally has 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours of life on a battery fully so far

I thought that adding RAM more would make the battery last longer, but I don't know she s RAM that of done

    Any help appreciated, thanks!

In my opinion RAM upgrade cannot be responsible for the lower battery capacity. I've updated / downgraded memory on my notebooks and I didn t notice something like that.

That means when you reuse the 1 GB of RAM you can use the battery run for too long?

    EMP

    Hello EMP25,

You are using a wireless connection on the battery?  In addition, you are streaming media through the internet or is it saved locally on the hard drive?

If you are on a wireless connection, check if your wireless network card has a built in save option.

    • Click on start.

Right-click on computer and choose Properties.

    • Select Device Manager on the left side of the screen.
    • Double-click network adapters.
    • Right click on your wireless network adapter and select Properties.
    • Click the Advanced tab.

See if there is a list for the power saving Mode or something similar.  If it is, turn it off.

Go ahead and reboot the system and test the video and the audio again while on battery.

  • Get the best out of Satellite 1900-803 processor / upgrade possible?

    Hi all

Well, this forum has been great for me up to now, thanks JohnnyS!

I was wondering if there might be someone out there who can help me with the following problem:

When I right click on "My computer" (current running winXPpro) I can't see what follows.

    line 1 * Intel (r)
    line 2 * Pentium (r) 4 CPU 1.70 Ghz
    line 3 * 1.69 Ghz, 768 MB RAM

I guess that the two readings of the CPU speed indicates the maximum speed of the processor (* line 2 *) followed by the actual speed (* line 3 *). If this is the case, can I shake the extra 0.1 Ghz out of it, it is better to it and if the answer to each of these questions is 'yes' then how do I do it?

Secondly, if I wanted to update (/ replace with a slightly faster) processor would be possible?
So how high I can go and where I could get such a thing? Should I be careful?

A big thank you to you experts helping beginners all out.

    Pablo

    Hi friend

How you´re? Good hope, today I give you another clue (which, I hope, could perhaps help you... or not ;)))

Your CPU is already underway to * 1.70* Ghz but windows often displays with a few mhz more or less. If you want to know if your CPU is really clocked 1.70 Ghz then download 'CPU - Z', which is a good reliable tool measures on the CPU.

There should also be a tool that shows the frequency of the processor in real time and you'll see that the frequency of the processor performs constantly at 1.70 Ghz, it s more like a clock generator (which is a CPU) who will * autour * 1.70 Ghz.

Surely, you can try to upgrade, but here in this forum person won't give you instructions or advice. If you want to know what capabilities can check which chipset is installed, and with these specifications, you should be able to know what CPU probably would take it or not. Research a little bit is never bad ;)

    Here´s a useful link (I hope) for you: http://www.irisvista.com/tech/

Otherwise, my advice is to 'never change a market system'

    Welcome them

  • Update the BIOS on the Satellite 1900-803

I just tried to update my bios on the recommendation of Microsoft because of reported serious CPU/bios conflicts.

The routine bios flash downloaded seems to work well from the disk for about two minutes then suddenly shut the computer laptop everything without warning. The machine has restarted but only with a screen empty and not yet start either from floppy disks or hard drives.

The front panel LED screen display the infrared icon in solid red without any Flash (there is no reference in the instruction booklet).
I tried several keystrokes on re - boot from information obtained via google searches on the internet. None of them seem to make any difference. Supplied with the machine recovery CD does not work either re-boot when it is used with the recommended C more switch button power switch.
I thought you are trying to reset the password using one of these parallel port fixers described on the net?
Other ideas on a way forward?
I guess that Toshiba offers no guarantee with their routines in the bios even if I lost a considerable amount of important data?

    Kind regards
    James

    Hello

You are right. The guarantee only if no coverage of this misfortune.
It seems that the laptop does not start because you have updated the BIOS with the wrong version or the wrong update procedure.

Most of the time it's not easy to estimate what might be the problem.
Maybe you are a lucky man and the BIOS chip be flashed only once again using a special procedure.
In the worst cases, the jury is dead and you need a new

  • Upgrade memory on Satellite 1900-803

How do you get the keyboard on this model to upgrade memory?

    Why keyboard remove?
To my knowledge, memory expansion module housing is placed at the bottom of the unit near the fan.
The cover must be secured with a screw. Simply remove the screws and the cover and you will be able to improve memory.

    Please could you explain?

If you can't answer, Toshiba have own customer support contact e-mail address?

    Hello

I guess the battery is dead! How old is it?
The laptop seems to be a little old and if the battery has never been replaced, then I m 100% sure this could be a reason why laptop run on battery for an extended period.

The solution is replacing the battery ;)
Either you go to google a bit to find some online dealers that sell compatible batteries for this laptop or you will contact the ASP in your country and will be stopped the right battery.
